New York City. The City that never sleeps. The Big Apple. Composed of five boroughs and home to over eight million people who speak more than 200 languages, hail from every corner of the globe, and, together, are the heart and soul of the most dynamic city in the world. For most a perfect place to call home but for a certain Contractor it never truly was.

On the upper west side of the city as a calming breeze blows by Y/N gently lands at the front door of an exotic-looking manor his hands in his pockets.

"Well, this definitely looks like the right place." He said and goes to knock on the door before it slowly opens to an older-looking gentleman tiredly standing there "We've been expecting you, Mr. Yagami, please follow me." He says softly, Y/N nods and follows behind as he leads him to a large room where a man and a boy roughly his age with ash blonde hair and brown eyes sat and discussed back and forth, the latter of which's eyes instantly widen as he saw Y/N a faintly familiar singeing wind wraps around him as he stares back unvarying.

"What the? Y/N, it is you why are you here? wait a minute don't tell me you're the other person Mr. Sakamoto hired to exorcise his house you've gotta be kidding." He says, Y/N stares back blankly

"So, who gave you permission to come back to New York?" He asks mockingly

"No one I was never kicked out of the state genius, no that it's your business." Y/N fires back calm and cold, the boy glares at him before the man curiously jumps in

"Shinji you know Mr. Yagami then?" He asks "Yeah, but Yagami's not his real name, this is Y/N Kannagi the black sheep and disgrace of the Kannagi family." He answers and Y/N scoffs

"I missed you too thanks, cousin." Y/N says sarcastically

"Why are you here anyways, trying to worm your way back in?"

"I'd rather burn in hell." Y/N smirks

"Well, I can arrange that loser." before the two of them could go any further however the man jumps in again "Gentle man please stop this bickering at once, I don't care who you are just as long as you can rid my house of this ghost, but please keep in mind my antiques here are very valuable worth far more than what I am paying either of you so I ask that you use your abilities with discretion." He pleads and Shinji walks over to Y/N

"Don't worry sir." He says as he leans closer to Y/N smirking arrogantly who simply smirks back at him casually

"Now pay attention you idiot you're about to see a master of fire at work."

"Yeah, where is he? A branch family punk is all I'm seeing." Y/N said wholeheartedly his signature smile crawling onto his face as Shinji grabbed his collar furiously "You bastard the hell did you just say to me?!" A vile and ominous wind quickly wraps itself around Y/N whispering a horrid song in his ears as his smile fades.

"Heads up, it's time to go to work." Y/N said before an unearthly presence began to converge and spread throughout the manor, directing its focus to one point in the room. Y/N casually stepped back as the presence finally manifested into a smoky ominous figure forcing Mr. Sakomoto to cower in fear and Shiniji moved to protect him forming a small ball of flames in his hands.

"You picked the wrong house ghost, now eat this!" Shinji yells before firing his flames at the creature enveloping it in the fire as it roared in agony...before laughing demonically

"Oh no." Y/N said, The creature instantly expanded absorbing the flames before doubling and redirecting them throughout the mansion as it exploded blasting Shinji away and leaving everything like a scene from hell itself. The creature quickly reformed laughing hysterically as it loomed over Shinji's body, Y/N simply looked on completely disinterested as his winds shielded him from the flames.

"That's not a ghost you idiot, that's a demonic spirit." He says insultingly and goes to leave before feeling a pull on his legs, he looks to see Mr. Sakamoto begging at his feet as the fires rage on all around them.

"Please save me I'll pay double what I promised you I swear!"

"If that's all you don't put much value on your life."

"I'll make it ten times as much, no fifty!."

"Have a nice day old man." Y/N takes one step

"One hundred times!!!" He cries out and Y/N turns back flashing him his signature smile "So you do wanna live huh?" Y/N calmly walks towards the demonic spirit the flames in front of him extinguishing instantly as he moves closer and closer, Y/N stood before the demonic spirit and calmly closed his eyes, and took a deep breath, as hundreds of azure blue particles gathered all around him, almost as if knowing its very existence was in danger the spirit charged at Y/N as he opened his eyes once more.

"Jackpot!" In an instant, a massive and powerful blast of wind exploded from Y/N's body immediately extinguishing all of the flames throughout the entire manor and completely obliterating the demonic spirit entirely.

Y/N quickly turns to Mr. Sakamoto smiling while he sat there in complete shock and awe at what had just happened as well as the complete ruin of his home.

"Welp looks like my work here is done, you got three days to get me the one."

"o...k" He shockingly accepts and Y/N turns to the body of Shinji on the floor and does what any respectful person would do to someone like him, kick it.

"Don't you have any respect, I don't know what happened between you two but to kick a dead man it just isn't r--" He goes to finish but Y/N quickly cuts him off "Relax old man he's not dead." Y/N says and kicks Shinji again only harder this time for good measure "Hey, wake up how long are you gonna pretend to be unconscious?" He says and Shinji quickly starts to sit up much to Mr. Sakamoto's shock

"But how?"

"The Kannagis are an ancient family of outcasts who can summon and control fire at will. Every Kannagi is protected by the spirits of fire, so even a member of a branch family like this dumbass here can't be hurt by flames." Y/N answers and Shinji looks at him in disbelief

"No way, you can control the wind." He asks, Y/N chuckles.

"Sure can I am the black sheep remember."

Later into the night, a girl with crimson red hair and hazel brown eyes desperately runs home through the city's busy streets.

"This is bad really bad, I'm two hours past curfew if father finds out I don't even wanna think about what he'll do!" She thinks to herself completely freaking out as she runs faster and faster, eventually, she dashes through the main entrance of her large estate and is almost home until...

"Ayano!!!" a voice calls out and the girl immediately crumbles apart in fear as her head darts around frantically in a panic "Father, this isn't what it looks like I wasn't late on purpose, I just got stuck studying at the library and lost track of time please forgive me!"

"Why did you call me father?" The voice asks Ayano quickly realizes who it was and sighs in relief as Ren runs up and hugs her.

"Ren, you really scared me there what's going on?" She asked, Ren, flashes a very familiar smile completely ecstatic

"He's here, I can barely believe it but after all this time he's actually back."

"Back? who do you mean?"

"Who else my big brother of course, I told you I went out to go find him a few months back he's been attending Nevermore Academy this entire time, but he told me something happened so they ended the semester early and now he's come back." He explained elatedly and Ayano looks at him lost and confused, Ren rolls his eyes and sighs before snapping his fingers.

"How about this to jog your memory, he fought you for Enraiha at the ceremony of inheritance." He says dryly and Ayano finally seems to piece it all together.

"Enraiha? OH! now I remember he was the guy I knocked out with a single blast of my flame, but it was so fast I wouldn't call it much of a fight you know." Ayano boasts and Ren just ignores her remembering what Y/N had told him the last time they saw each other about keeping his new...abilities between them. The two of them walk together to the Kannagi estate, inside Shinji kneels in shame to the head of the Kannagi family alongside Y/N and Ren's father discussing Y/N's dramatic return earlier today.

"So then, he defeated the demonic spirit using the winds. Shinji you have brought shame upon our family, you will double your training and I expect you to act more professionally from now on."

"Yes sir I'm sorry, please forgive me master Jugo, cousin Genma." Shinji begged, Genma smiles softly showing him mercy "Now raise your head there's no need to be so formal here." He says before the door to the room opens to Ren and Ayano.

"Father did you--" She goes to finish but freezes and she and Ren see what was going on "Cousin Genma what are you doing here?" The both of them enter and Jugo proceeded to explain everything regarding Y/N's arrival leaving Ayano shocked and Ren anxious sitting there as his father scowled at him.

"Unbelievable, so he can control the winds now?" Ayano asks, Jugo nods

"We had heard the rumors but had written them off as just that until now." He says and glances at Ren "You had found him quite recently adding Nevermore Academy didn't you Ren, why didn't you bother to mention this at all when you returned."

"I was just wondering the same thing, out with it Ren. Now." Genma glares at the poor boy who quickly shivers in fear as burning pressure bears down on him, he clenches his fist tightly as he shakes and desperately tries to avoid his father's eyes.

"He...He asked that I keep his new abilities secret f-father because of his feelings... toward the family. I'm very sorry father, Master Jugo but if I was given the choice..." He bravely looks up and meets their eyes as tears begin to form in his own "I would keep it hidden all over again, for my brother." He says wholeheartedly, the two men look at the boy and nod, and Ren breathes out a sigh of relief as he relaxes again.

"Wait so let me get this straight, my second cousin Y/N Kannagi who was banished from the family four years ago is back. Are you serious? a member of the Kannagi family has actually trained himself to control the winds, I can't believe that it's so—" she goes to finish but Genma happily cuts her off "It's embarrassing and shameful." He states coldly and harshly, Master Jugo looks at him and sighs sadly

"I pity him despite myself, he's not had an easy path in life if only he hadn't been born to the Kannagi family then he wouldn't have anything to be ashamed of."

"But he was, and he didn't have the ability to control fire the Kannagi family has been practicing the sacred art of fire for countless generations, it has no place for those that can't master it. Therefore Y/N has no connection to us at all, and as far as I'm concerned I only have one son, Ren."

"Father" Ren said sadly

"Perhaps it's for the best, the wind and Nevermore may allow Y/N to achieve true happiness." Jugo said and Ren smiled slightly "I think he already has..." Ren began as the three turned to him "When we last saw each other Y/N told me that even though he could never forgive the family for what happened to him, a part of himself wishes he could thank the family as well because if it hadn't had happened, he would never have found his real home in Nevermore or the friends...and a special someone to share it with." Ren finishes and smiles remembering his time with Y/N and Wednesday.

"Either way, I hope one day he can be a member of our family again too." Ren said hopeful, The silence of night and slumber soon sweeps over the Kannagi estate as a powerful and restless breeze blows through silencing the sounds of death and terror as the bodies of four Kannagis laid out before a dying and begging Shinji as a being shrouded in wind stands before him

"Please forgive me, that is you isn't it Y/N?! I'm sorry I didn't help you back then, please forgive me..I don't wanna die!!!" Shinji desperately cries before a blade of dark and demonic wind slashes through him. Y/N's eyes shot open and he leaped from his hotel bed as an ominous and vile wind wraps itself around him whispering a horrid song in his ears as he looks out the window.

"Guess a storm's coming, just my luck."

The morning quickly rose the next day, Jugo, Genam, and Ayano stood outside the home where Shinji and the other four Kannagi members were murdered, an older man wearing red robes emerges from the scene of the crime and kneeled before Jugo.

"What was it, Yuri?" Jugo asks

"Due to the severity of the cuts on their bodies, I've concluded that only a wielder wind could have done this, not only that but a type of wind far more powerful than we in the Fuga family could even imagine to control." He states and Jugo nods

"It appears so, though the boys were only members of the branch family to think that they could all be killed so easily is-" Jugo goes to finish but Genma quickly cuts him off "Unbelievable, I'm afraid it's much worse than that it's humiliating for them to be slaughtered by a wielder of the winds." Genma says matter of factly and Yuri's fist clench ever so tightly which he quickly notices

"Sorry Yuri, I hope you'll forgive me"

"Yes, we of the Fuga family have lived only to serve the Kannago family for generations." He says, Ayano looks past him towards the bodies of her fellow Kannagis and clenches her fist tightly as she wonders only one thing.

"Just who the hell would attack us like this?" She thinks, nearby four other Kannagi members angrily gathered near the entrance of the estate the culprit already in their minds.

"It's Y/N how much more evidence do we need, he's back a day and members of our family are dying give me a fucking break."

"It does look like a grudge slaying, and the killer did use the winds so I'm gonna have to agree with you that he does fit the bill."

"If you ask me, he murdered them out of revenge for getting kicked out."

"It wasn't their fault he got disowned it was his for being weak, power is everything in this family he should know that."

"It doesn't matter either way that outcast is gonna pay for what he did, my brother Shinji will be avenged I swear it."

Inside the Kannagi complex Ayano sits and discussed with her father about Y/N

"Father everyone is saying that Y/N is responsible for the murders, now that he's acquired the ability to control the winds they think he's using it to take revenge on the family." She says and Jugo sighs tiredly

"If it's true and he is the one who murdered those boys you may be certain that he will pay."

"Please let me I'll destroy." Ayano demands, and Jugo shakes his head "Ayano when will you learn that not every problem in life can not be solved by using force, you will lead this family one day so you mustn't act rashly." He says calmly much to Ayano's annoyance

"I can't just sit back and do nothing."

"But that is exactly what you're going to do, we don't yet have any proof of his guilt, and if Ren's words are anything to go by he has no reason to commit these heinous acts on our family. You will take no action until I deem it necessary is that clear?" He asks a commanding yet firm tone in his voice, Ayano sighs in defeat "I understand." She says before taking her leave.

Later into the evening Y/N casually walks along the busy streets of New York City the atmosphere of the people and winds around him provides a strange yet pleasant feeling of nostalgia, before a strange yet faint breeze brushes past his face guiding his mind to something behind him as he keeps moving forward in the crowd.

"So I'm being followed, but not by the same person I sensed at the hotel this morning the winds are all different but there's something familiar about it." Y/N thought to himself before branching off from the crowd and vanishing into the winds. Jugo and Genma stand beside one another and Yuri kneels before them.

"Your people have located Y/N?" Genma asked, Yuri nods

"The Fuga family's tracking abilities never cease to amaze me, send word that we must meet with him at once he might even agree to come willingly."

"And what if he refuses to, do we have permission to bring him back by force?"

"Certainly, decide who you want to send." Jugo said and Genma nods "Don't worry I know just the people for the job. Parked alongside a closed construction site Ayano alongside two other Kannagis get out and run towards Y/N's location.

"According to our spies, he's only one block ahead of us."

"Right." Ayano said before vanishing into the winds and landing somewhere else surrounded by a barrier of wind, one of the two Kannagis quickly notices she was gone as they continue to rush ahead.

"Hey, where'd Ayano go?"

"There here is, Y/N!!!!" He yells and Y/N stops dead in his tracks and turns back as the two of them reach him in the middle of the construction yard

"You murdering son of a bitch, you killed my brother!"

"It's been quite a while, remember us?" He asks and Y/N scoffs his hands casually in his pockets "Yeah the heirs to the branch families."

"Then you know why we're here?" He asks and Y/N shrugs

"Nope don't have clue, but I bet you're gonna tell me regardless."

"Last night five Kannagi branch family members were killed."

"And?" Y/N says cold and disinterested

"The cause of their deaths was wind control." He reveals and Y/N's stare softens slightly. Inside the wind barrier, Ayano plans her next move "Alright I know what will get rid of this, Enriha to me!" she claps her hands together as hundred of crimson red particles gather around her and a sword emerges from her flames she fires a massive blast of flames from the wooden blade towards the barrier that simply disperses under its power gusts. Outside Y/N stares down the two Kannagis as the tension around them builds more and more by the second.

"It wasn't me we're done here." Y/N says calmly

"No, we're not Master Jugo has requested to speak with you in person." He says and Y/N groans in annoyance

"Look, if he wanted to talk he should have come here himself I'm not at his beck and call anymore like some dogs or the rest of the Kannagi family, tell him I said that too." Y/N says flashing his signature smile before blasting a blade of wind at a nearby forklift completely slicing it in half as someone emerges from the wind and lands beside them.

"So it's the Fuga family that's been trailing me." Y/N says slightly impressed

"This is your last chance come with us quietly or else Y/N" He says as Shinji's brother forms a massive ball of flames in his hands beside him, Y/N just chuckles and smirks at them

"You know you could at least say please." He jokes and Shinji's brother officially had enough of him "You bastard burn in hell!!!" He yells as he readies to absolutely obliterate Y/N who smiles before launching a a blast of wind that cause the fireball to combust in his hands sending the two Kannagis flying and completely paralyzed as they hit the ground.

"What in the-what the hell did you just do?"

"Just a little trick I learned just in case something like this ever happened, you Kannagis think you're invincible you're immune to the heat from an explosion but its impact is another story." Y/N says confidently before a vile and murderous wind wraps itself around him and a powerful blast of dark wind fires from seemingly nowhere "How the hell did someone sneak up on me?" Y/N asks as the blade of dark wind slashes apart the construction sight sending all of the beams crashing down onto the two Kannagis killing them both instantly, Y/N just stands there in total shock

"That was...The winds." He says before a sick, twisted, and demonic laugh echoes from behind him, Y/N glances back as hundred of azure blue particles disperse into the winds.

"What the hell is going on here? Spirits of the Wind what the hell is wrong with you that's a breach of our contract!" He yells before a burning wind wraps itself around him and an immense heat begins to radiate nearby "Oh what now!" he turns to see Ayano standing there engulfed by flames of anger and hatred her sword clenched tightly in her hands as she glares at Y/N

"Enriha? Ayano is that you?" He asks but quickly leaps back as she desperately tries to slash at him with her sword and flames, Y/N quickly a wall of wind separating the two of them "Hold on a second dammit, this isn't what it looks like I didn't kill them I swear." He says trying to convince her but she simply burns her flames even hotter and slashes through the wall of wind and charges at him again

"You'll pay for this!" She yells as she unleashes a barrage of of fireballs towards Y/N which he easily manages to dodge before vanishing into the winds and reappearing in front of her as he knocks the sword out of her hand and holds onto her wrist with a vice-like grip.

"Wow look at you, you really have grown up."

"Flattery will get you nowhere you murderer!!" She yells as the sword ignites back into her hands and Y/N leaps back slightly confused "Flattery? Sorry missy but I'm happily spoken for by someone who could kick mine and your ass anytime she wanted to." He said and smiles thinking about Wednesday as he lands, Ayano ignore his comment as hundred of crimson particles form all around her.

"You have no idea who you're messing with Y/N"

"Actually I do you inherited the Enriha so you're the next head of the Kannagi family." He says and takes a deep breath as hundred of azure blue particles form all around him much much faster, Ayano quickly fires a massive fireball towards Y/N who easily counter forming a small whirlwind in his hand and launches it completely dispersing the flames as the explosion sends Ayano sliding back. She glares at Y/N as he just rolls his eyes

"I told you I didn't do it." He says much to Ayano's ire

"Do you really think I'm going to believe a word you're saying?"

"That's up to you, I don't give two shits if you believe me or not."

"Somebody killed them so if you didn't do it who did?"

"Someone else that can control winds genius you'll have to figure out the rest on your own, but I'll be honest with you based on what I've seen tonight I don't have much hope of that some future head of the family you are."

"Oh you've gotta be kidding me you're the last person on the planet who should be talking about family, I mean come on a Kannagi who controls the winds instead of fire aren't you ashamed of yourself."

"Not really, I got friends who like me, amazing powers, a girlfriend who tolerates me, and helped said girlfriend save a lot of people's lives not too long ago. Up until these past few days my life has been pretty great." He boasts as a wave of wind forms underneath him carrying him into the air "I'd love to stay and chat, but I gotta go we'll have to play catch up another time." He says before taking off into the skies and vanishing into the winds while Ayano yells at him from down below.

Eventually Y/N lands on the roof of his hotel enjoying the breeze as the winds whisper a pleasant song in his ears, he flashes his pure, contagious, and idiotic smile as he pulls out his phone and dials a dangerously beautiful raven-haired girl he waits for a moment before she finally answers

"You've better have a good explanation as to why you're calling me during my writing time Yagami or this romantic partnership of ours will be over very quickly." She says, Y/N chuckles the winds around him picking up happily as he hears her voice threatening or otherwise "Heh, sorry it's just been a long day and...I really just wanted to hear your voice, but I'll leave you to your writing no-" He goes to finish but she immediately cuts him off "It's fine I'll make an exception...just this once as seemingly my absence has made you weaker than you already are. So, mi furioso tornado tell me everything." She asks the slightest bit of intrigue in her voice, Y/N takes a deep breath and begins.

"Well, since I got here I've been hunted, haunted, and accused of murdering members of my old family so let's just say things are gonna be interesting while I'm here."

Well here we are people you guys asked for more of him so I'm bringing ya more of him the first chapter of Y/N's side story is officially done. I hope you guys liked it if you didn't I'm really sorry this is only a short little thing for world building and giving you guys some extra fun until season 2 comes out then we cann all return to our normal Y/N and Wednesday shenanigans.
