Chapter 7: She's like the Wind

"Eyes as blue as the azure sky...that is the symbol of The Contractor"
—————
Rain falls all across Jericho, the drops of rain are not unlike the drops of tears shed as the entire town mourns over the loss of Mayor Walker. Many Nevermore and Jericho residents are present for the funeral, Enid is comforted by Ajax, and Y/N stands beside them silently, his winds shielding him from the rain. Wednesday was away from everyone watching on alone, her focus on Y/N who seemingly could tell her gaze was on him as he glances over and meets her eyes, unable to flash her even the smallest of smiles under the circumstance he simply moves his finger slightly as a familiar gentle breeze wraps its self around her a message only he alone could give her which eased her slightly before she focuses on the crowd.

"I enjoy funerals. I've been crashing them since I was old enough to read the obituary section. Mayor Walker was murdered, and I know the killer is here, standing innocently among us, plotting their next move. And watching everything I do. I know I'm close to the truth. I have all the pieces of the jigsaw. I just need to slot them into place. I must look past the tears and masks of grief. Until now, I may have been outmatched and outmaneuvered, but the final gambit has yet to be played. The killer will make a mistake, and I'll be ready." Wednesday thinks to herself, before getting the feeling that someone is watching her, she tilts her head left to a shadowy figure who quickly vanishes into the forest. She gives chase, reaching a clearing Wednesday looks around. The figure suddenly drops from a tree behind her, Wednesday reacts instantly drawing a hidden sword from her umbrella, she thrusts at the man, who catches the blade easily before shocking it with electricity as she drops it. Wednesday for the first time smiles wide, instantly knowing who it is.

"Still as sharp as ever, my pig-tailed protégé." He says, Wednesday smiles happily at him

"Uncle Fester." She said, the man removes his hat revealing a bald man, with pale skin and slightly rounded eyes.

"How long have you been stalking me?" She asks.

"Just blew into town this morning and was hit by a wave of nostalgia."

"I thought you didn't go to Nevermore."

"I didn't. Your dad got all the brains. But I used to drop in on him. Usually from the ceiling with a dagger clutched between my teeth. Just to keep him on his toes."

"Of course." Wednesday smirks.

"He filled me in on what's been going on. Monsters, murder, mayhem. What fun! I told him I had a job in Boston, but I'd be checking up on you."

"What kind of job?"

"The kind that means I need somewhere to lay low for a couple of days." Fester said, thankfully Wednesday just so happened to know the perfect place. She takes Fester to the Bee Hive away from everyone and everything.

"This place belongs to a friend."

"You've actually made a friend. That poor kid will be going home in a body bag. Wednesday and Fester enter the shack, and Fester notices the container of bees.

"I like a hideout that comes with snacks." Fester says as he opens up the hive box.

"Those bees are hibernating. They're practically Eugene's children. That means do not eat them!" She says, and Fester frowns and puts the Bees back.

"You know, when you give me that death stare of disapproval, you remind me of your mother. Speaking of scary things, you know what kind of monster you're dealing with?"

"I haven't been able to identify it." Wednesday shows the drawing of the monster that Xavier made, faster examines it

"Ooh. It's called a Hyde."

"As in Jekyll and Hyde?"

"Mm-hmm." Fester nods

"You've seen one before?"

"Oh yeah. In '83, during my vacay at the Zurich Institute for the Criminally Insane. Where I got my first lobotomy. But you know lobotomies. They're like tattoos. Can't just get one."

"Tell me about the Hyde."

"Ah. Olga Malacova. Jeez. She had it all. Beauty, brains, and a penchant for necrophilia. Olga was a concert pianist, until one night she transformed in the middle of a Chopin sonata. Massacred a dozen audience members. And three music critics." Fester smiles at that last part

"What triggered her? Or did she just change on her own?"

"No idea. I only saw her in group electroshock therapy."

"There's never been any mention of Hydes in any outcast book. And Nevermore is reputed for having the best collection. Although they didn't have anything on what Y/N is either."

"Who's Y/N?"

"No one." She answers quickly and coldly, Fester just nods

"You try Nathaniel Faulkner's diary? Before he founded Nevermore, Faulkner traveled the world, cataloging every outcast community."

"How do you know this?"

"You think your parents can't keep their hands off each other now, oy vey. I showed up unannounced one night in Gomez's dorm room. Let's just say I wasn't interrupting a pillow fight."

"Uncle Fester."

"Right Right Yeah."

"The diary, where is it?"

"Nightshades Library. Your dad parked me there and said I should settle in for a long stretch. And that's when I found this nifty little safe. I was hoping for a stash of cash or jewels but instead, I found a diary." Fester explains, Wednesday processes this and nods.

"We'll sneak into the Nightshades Library tonight. In the meantime, lay low. If you are discovered, I will disown you and collect the reward tied to your capture."

"I'd expect nothing less." Fester responds, as Wednesday leaves, he goes to open the bee box again, and Wednesday storms back in.

"Leave the bees alone." She says, Fester, frowns and leaves them alone. Wednesday returns to Nevermore and to her dorm room to write her novel.

"My novel started out as a twisted fiction, but somehow reality has turned it into my own personal looking glass. My visit to the Gates mansion has left me with so many questions. If Laurel Gates died 20 years ago, then who's sleeping in her bedroom? Why do they have photos of me? And what is their connection to this Hyde? Whoever it is, they're clearly willing to kill for their secret. Goody predicted this quest for answers would become a lonely pursuit..." As she types a familiar gentle breeze brushes across followed by the sound of Y/N softly landing on her balcony, before she continues "...And although she was not entirely correct, even Goody's nowhere to be found when I need her. The dead can be just as annoying and unreliable as the living." Wednesday monologues, the door to the room opens and Enids awkwardly walks in.

"Hi. Sorry, I figured you were still at Mayor Walker's wake."

"As soon as the dirt hits the coffin, I'm out."

"I can't seem to find my bottle of silver moon nail polish. Do you mind if I look around? Yoko's hosting a mani-pedi party for her crew."

"This is the third time in 24 hours you've forgotten something." Wednesday said, folding her arms.

"So, how is everything going?"

"Solitude suits me. With no annoying distractions, I'm almost finished with my novel."

"Was I an annoying distraction?" Enid said coldly and defensively

"You definitely had some annoying habits."

"Such as?"

"You giggle when you text, which is a 24/7 addiction."

"At least it's not a migraine-inducing typewriter hammering into my head."

"When not grinding your canines, you growl in your sleep."

"As opposed to late-night cello solos?"

"You over-commit to activities, then complain about them."

"I'd take that over your obsession with all things creepy."

"You could gas an entire village with the amount of perfume you spritz. That's just off the top of my head."

"Guess I'm lucky with the new bestie that doesn't try to find ways to endanger literally everybody she comes into contact with. In fact, Yoko and I are so in sync that she's begging me to be her new roomie. Permanently."

"Don't let me hold you back."

"Enjoy your solitude, Wednesday."

"It's not solitude if you're still here." Wednesday says as Enid storms off slamming the door as she leaves, Wednesday looks to her Window as Y/N quietly enters through,

"Damn, I've never seen Enid that pissed off before, closest thing was with her mom you've got a lot of work ahead of you with her Wednesday." Y/N says, Wednesday scowls at him

"You were more than welcome to enter and mediate the situation at any time." She fired at him, Y/N chuckles

"And get between you two and whatever the hell that was, no thanks I may be a Contractor but that doesn't make me invincible, especially to both yours and Enid's wrath." He says confidently, Wednesday rolls her eyes at him "Then what are you good for then, blowing hot air and a decent-looking face?"

"Hot air, what do you think I am a space heat-- wait decent?" He says smirking. "You think I'm--" Y/N barely raises his arm just in time as Wednesday's foot slams against a barrier of wind "Not.Another.Word." Wednesday murderously fires back, Y/N flashes her his pure and idiotic smile for a moment knowing full well what she meant in his mind, he slowly lowers her foot down.

"Seriously though Wednesday, you need to try and make things right with Enid, and your winds are telling me that a part of you wants to as well." He says, Wednesday considers this silently

"...Perhaps at another time, but right now we have more important things to worry about, and we need to go." She says walking past him and grabbing him by the back of his collar as she drags him off

"Go? Where are we going?" He asked confused "The Nightshade library...to get answers on the Hyde."
—————
Wednesday and Y/N return back to the hidden library. They head down the staircase, and look around.

"Uncle Fester?" Wednesday asks.

"Who's Uncle Fester?" Y/N and Xavier ask in sync, the latter emerging from another room as he stares at the two of them.

"What are you doing here?" Wednesday asks

"Since I'm an actual Nightshade, I don't have to explain myself. What's your guy's excuse for creeping around in the middle of the night?"

"Research" They replied in perfect sync, Xavier's eyes shift between the both of them, and sighs

"On the monster? I'll save you some time. There's nothing in here matching that thing." He says matter of factly

"Isn't that convenient?" Wednesday says coldly, she turns around and begins to leave, Xavier gets annoyed and calls out to her

"You know what your problem is?" He says, Wednesday instantly stops in her tracks and turns back to him scowling.

"I would love to hear your piercing insight." She says, Y/N takes a step back watching the fireworks unfold.

"You don't know who your real friends are. I've been on your side since day one. I literally saved your life. I believed your theories when nobody else did--" Hearing that Y/N quickly jumped in "The hell do you mean nobody else did, check your fucking facts Xavier and get off your high horse." Y/N says proudly, Wednesday smirks slightly and Xavier just glares at him for a moment before continuing on "And what do I get in return? Just nothing but suspicion and lies."

"Fine. You want honesty? Here it is. Every time the monster's attacked, you've been right there. Starting with Rowan at the Harvest Festival. Then on Outreach Day, you arrived just minutes after the monster disappeared, yet you say you didn't see it. Then there's your drawing obsession. You have drawn the monster dozens of times, yet you've never seen it. Or so you claim. You even drew where it lived. Then when Eugene went to investigate, you tried to kill him so he wouldn't spill your secret."

"You think I would hurt Eugene?" He asks, Wednesday ignores him and keeps going

"Let's not forget your oh-so-convenient appearance after Y/N had been attacked at the Gates mansion." Wednesday finishes seemingly having him dead to rights in her mind, Xavier slowly moves closer to her

"If I am the monster, then why haven't I killed you?" He says before a dark and frigged wind wraps itself around him pressing against his throat like a blade as Y/N glares wind-filled daggers at him, his hands in his pockets "Because, you'd be dead before you could even try it." Y/N says coldly a burning truth lacing every word.

"And, because for some reason I cannot fathom or indulge, you seem to like me." Wednesday fires back, and Y/N smirks.

"What's to like?" He says coldly and goes to leave, "A lot of to be honest" Y/N says nonchalantly, Xavier stops and scoffs "You're joking, right? She lied to you, she almost got you killed, how can you just be ok with that?" He says and Y/N sighs

"Because, I knew what I signed up for the moment I fell for her I was all for it, and I could list all her negatives and all her flaws for hours, but I'm not trying to die just yet..." He says before glancing at Wednesday and flashing her his signature pure, contagious, and Idiotic smile, he turns back to Xavier

"And, despite all those things though, no matter how cold, violent, and heartless she can act sometimes, I'd never make her apologize for who she is, And that doesn't mean she can't grow, can't...evolve into a better version of herself while keeping true to who she is, and when that happens...I know I'll fall for her all over again. " He says wholeheartedly, Wednesday's face freezes up like ice, and her entire body stiffens as she stares at his back, a calming and gentle breeze wraps all around her as the feeling in her chest ignites once more, her hands clench tightly as small amounts of color crawls to her face wanting nothing more than to crush the feelings she was experiencing as she forced them down. Xavier remains silent for a moment and scoffs before taking his leave "Hopeless." He says coldly and walks up the stairs, Fester drops down.

"How long have you been lurking? Wednesday asks and Fester laughs.

"Long enough to feel the tension between you three, and the romantic spark between the two of you. Yowza! Reminds me of your mom and your dad, completely complementary to one another and oozing with emotion! I've never seen you this stunned!" Fester says smiling, Wednesday just stares morbidly at him. The thumping of fingers stops him and he looks over at a desk to see Thing, who's less than enthusiastic.

"I'd recognize the patter of those fingertips anywhere. Hello, Thing. You can't still be mad about the Kalamazoo job. It wasn't my fault." Fester said, Thing leaps at him grabbing his neck and strangling fester, they struggle against each other as he gasps for air. Y/N leans over to Wednesday smirking "Your family is the best."

"You said you could crack that safe in 30 seconds. Five minutes later, we were still there. You're all thumbs."

" Enough. Wednesday roars with her voice, and the two stop and turn to them. "Let him go. Show me the diary." she said, fester shows Wednesday a painting of a strange monster.

"Here we are. Iggy was Faulkner's right hand. Trained a generation of Nightshades. And behind Iggy Itt..." he says and yanks on the painting to reveal a safe hidden behind it. Thing crawls over to it and cracks his knuckle and starts trying to crack it open.

"Do I have time for a snooze, or can you crack this quickly? This is turning into a replay of Kalamazoo." Fester watches until the safe clicks, Thing opens it, and inside was the old diary. Wednesday takes it and they head back up to her dorm room.

"These are some sweet digs. How'd you swing your own single?" Fester asks as Wednesday was reading through the diary.

"My former roommate couldn't handle my toxic personality. Here it is" Wednesday shows Fester and Y/N the entry

"Faulkner describes Hydes as artists by nature, but equally vindictive in temperament. Born of mutation, the Hyde lays dormant until unleashed by a traumatic event or unlocked through chemical inducement or hypnosis. This causes the Hyde to develop an immediate bond with its liberator, who the creature now sees as its master. It becomes the willing instrument of whatever nefarious agenda this new master might propose."

"Anyone willing to unlock a Hyde is a next-level sicko."

"That means we're not looking for one killer but two. The monster and its master. Y/N said, suddenly there was a knock at the door. Y/N vanished into the winds as Wednesday made her way over to it, the door opened to Thornhill

"I didn't mean to startle you." She says apologetically, Wednesday glances back to find Y/N and Uncle Fester gone before turning back to her.

"I was just working on my novel." She says completely mundane

"Enid...has requested to room with Yoko for the rest of the school year."

"She did?" Wednesday said

"When there's a falling out, I like to get both girls' perspectives on what happened. You two seemed as thick as thieves."

"Ultimately, thieves turn on each other. I've seen it with my own eyes."

"Deflect all you want, but you and I both know that you care about Enid. And you have to admit she managed to bring out a spark of warmth in you. Oh, don't worry. Just a tiny spark. Barely perceptible to the average eye, but... I noticed." Thornhill says, Wednesday crosses her arms annoyed

"Part of the dorm experience is making friends with people that you wouldn't normally connect with. And those friendships often turn into lifelong bonds. Take Mr. Yagami for instance

"Y/N has absolutely nothing to do with this, And I would rather buy a rope."

"Is it really so difficult for you to admit that you made a friend, and now that she's gone you might actually miss her?"

"I'll survive alone. I always have." Wednesday responds, Thornhill nods and gives up

"Well, if that's your decision, I'll submit the forms to Principal Weems." She says shaking her head as she walks back out the door, Wednesday waits for it to shut completely before calling out for the both of them.

"Uncle Fester, Y/N?" She calls out and in a gentle gust of wind Y/N reemerges beside her "I'm here, and your uncle's over there buried under all of Enid's plushies" Y/N said pointing, Fester stumbles out of the pile laughing.

"Hey! Being a solo lobo has its perks. You get to live by your own rules, do whatever you want. Just look at me." Fester said, Wednesday began to heavily consider his words before Y/N put his hand gently on her shoulder "My only argument to that Fester, Wednesday's not a solo lobo..." Wednesday glances up at him meeting his eyes as he does the same before smiling at her "...not by a long shot."

Early the next morning Wednesday, Y/N and Uncle Fester secretly follow Xavier towards his art studio seemingly talking to someone on the phone, while he's not looking Wednesday sneaks up behind him just before he turns around annoyed.

"Who're you talking to?"

"It's none of your goddamn business."

"I know what you are, Xavier." She says smirking

"Can you stay the hell away from me?" Xavier says before he brushes past her and enters his studio, the three of them wait for a short while until Xavier finally leaves riding off on his bike to who knows where.

"Did you place a tracker?" Wednesday asks, Fester hands her a handheld tracking device showing Xavier's location "Don't worry. Uncle Fester's got you covered."

"Okay. Let's hit the road."

Uncle Fester leads the both of them into a deeper part of the woods and towards what looked Y/N could only assume was a motorcycle underneath a heavy tarp, Fester yanked it back revealing the most ridiculous-looking motorcycle either Wednesday or Y/N had seen in their entire lives with a custom sidecar and painted to look exactly like a dalmatian. Y/N instantly burst out laughing while Wednesday looked at Fester with a blank stare that said everything she wanted to.

"What? I picked it up on my way out of town. You know me. I like to travel incognito." Fester says before tossing Wednesday a helmet making Y/N laugh even more

"Aw, it's even got little ears." He goes to grab it from her for a closer look but is forced to narrowly yank his hands back as Wednesday lunges forward almost biting him. He turns to her to see icy daggers staring back at him before she smirks slightly "Careful I'm rabid, now let's go." She says before they speed off to catch up to Xavier, Y/N follows slightly behind them from above until they arrive at his location, and stealthfully watch from the distance as Xavier meets up with none other than Dr. Kinbott before getting in her car with her before they drive off.

"Alright, so either Xavier's the Hyde and Kinbott's his master, or we need to get Chris Hansen on the phone right now." Y/N says half-jokingly, Wednesday glares at him and Y/N just shrugs.
—————
Wednesday and Y/N sat across one another inside of Weathervane discussing everything they know so far, Wednesday looks over the diary entry again.

"Kinbott has to be Xavier's master. The Hyde lays dormant until unleashed by a traumatic event or unlocked through chemical inducement or hypnosis. She must've figured out he's a Hyde and used hypnotherapy to unlock him. That would explain their secret sessions." She says, Y/N slowly nods not entirely convinced which she easily notices

"What?" She asks, Y/N sighs

"Nothing it's just...the more I think about, and the more I feel about it something in the winds just isn't clicking with all of this." He says and she looks at him slightly intrigued

"How so?"

"Well, don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of Xavier's by any means, and the wind around him has never been the cleanest or sounded the most pleasant, but it doesn't match the kind I've felt from the monster."

"Perhaps, the winds around him change once he has transformed?" She suggested, Y/N considered the possibility "Maybe, regardless it would just be foolish to ignore all the obvious signs and evidence just from that alone." He said, Wednesday nods and returns back to the diary, Y/N smiles slightly watching her focus so intensely on the pages, and decides to roll the dice

"Wednesday."

"What?" She says not taking her eyes off the book

"I like you. Will you go on a date with me?" He says whole-heartedly, Wednesday glances up at him for a moment before looking back down and continuing to read

"When I'm told and asked the same thing for an extended period of time, I feel less than I already do. The gesture becomes more annoying than anything." She said coldly, small traces of color on her face, Y/N fakely sighs in defeat

"I see. I've been rejected. I guess I'll have to look for a new romance, then. He says as he slowly gets out of the booth, Wednesday finally puts the book down and looks at him "Huh? wait..."

"Thank you for everything up until now." He says nonchalantly and goes to leave, Wednesday instantly grabs onto his wrist with an iron-like grip, completely cutting off all circulation

"I-I didn't exactly say no, why are you giving up so easily?"

"Then, will you?" He asks seriously, Wednesday meets his eyes for a moment before looking away annoyed and for the first time in her life the tiniest bit embarrassed, she slowly nods finally building up the courage

"S-Sure." She says, Y/N smiled so happily and nodded

"Great! Plus I figure after what happened last time, you kinda owe me. He says

"I can't sneak off of campus. All eyes are on me."

"Then we won't, Crackstone's Crypt 9 o'clock." He stands up and flashes her his signature smile before leaving, and a warm gentle breeze washes over her as she sighs "Idiot."

Night falls and Wednesday and Y/N stand before the crypt.

"Last time somebody threw a surprise for me here, it did not go as planned." She said and Y/N chuckles

"I know, but you do have to close your eyes."

"Are you serious?" Wednesday deadpanned, "When am I not?" Y/N gave her a little smile, Wednesday says nothing and closed her eyes.

Y/N slowly leads her inside, "Okay. Watch your step. Wait here. Close your eyes. Okay. Easy. Right here. Okay, you can open your eyes now." He said, she opens them to a Jet black blanket, an even darker basket of food, and what looked to be a projector with a makeshift movie screen. Wednesday looked behind her and met Y/N's eyes.

"What? No one's ever taken you on a picnic inside a crypt before? He said jokingly said before walking in front of her "Consider me lucky to be the first." He flashes her his signature pure, contagious, and idiotic smile and walks towards the picnic, Wednesday watched him and felt herself smile slightly as she sat down beside him

"I hope you like you're ready to scarred for life."

"As if I haven't been before already." She says, Y/N chuckles "That's the spirit." Suddenly the movie starts and happy, peppy music begins to play as the title of the film 'Legally Blonde.' pops up, and Wednesday's eyes slowly widen.

"Told you to be ready." Y/N teased as Wednesday looked over at him with wide and confused eyes. She looked back at the film and her reactions were nothing short of priceless, instead of watching the film Y/N happily watched her instead enjoying himself as he saw her normally adorable stone-cold expression shift so frequently and so drastically at so many points of the film. The movie eventually ends and the two stood up and walked to the exit.

"That was torture...Thank you." She says, Y/N sighs and they stop and turn to each other.

"Wednesday I--" He tries but Wednesday quickly cuts him off "Y/N...I'm not friend material, let alone more-than-friend material. I will ignore you, stomp on your heart, and always put my needs and interests first."

"I know."

"If I don't like something I get angry and annoyed right away, When I'm angry I'd much rather hand punches out first, rude, cold, heartless, ruthless"

"...Yeah, I know."

"I'm always causing trouble for others, I admit I can be frustrating at points, I...I almost got you killed."

"Hey, I'm a Contractor remember it'll take a lot more than some monster to take me out, plus you'd probably get me yourself before anything else can hehe."

"...I'm not the kind of girl, you deserve or should be reaching for you know? you're making a mistake, I am who I am, and that's okay with you..?" Wednesday said, Y/N looks down, every moment he's had with her rushes into his mind and he tilts his head up to look at her showing his signature pure, contagious, idiotic, and loving smile, and says the only words he needed to.

"...Yeah, I love you." He says with complete truth, confidence, and sincerity. She just looks at him completely shocked the feeling in her chest igniting greater than ever before, he slowly leans in ready to put a true mark on his feelings for her once and for all, Wednesday allowing the burning in her heart to take control does as well, their lips inches away from finally colliding with one another, but life has a funny way of ruining a good thing and someone bursts into the crypt, the sheriff. He sees the two teenagers and they quickly turn to him

"What the hell?" He says, "The school groundskeeper found a motorbike by the lake. It matches the description of the one the bank robber stole. There's a canoe missing. Figured he might be on Raven Island. I'm not going to ask what this is, but I never saw the two of you here. You got it?" He says before leaving them there. Y/N chuckles sadly as Wednesday pulls her hands from him.

"So...want me to fly you back home?" He asks.

"I'll be fine. I just need time to think." She said quickly before exiting the crypt leaving a flustered Y/N behind whose normally casual persona shatters completely.

"Holy crap did I really just tell her that! I meant it but---WHY THE HELL DID HE HAVE TO RUIN THE MOMENT?!" Y/N grabbed his head as he yelled out in annoyance and anger unleashing a powerful wind that snuffs out all the candles he set up.

Wednesday returns to her room to see the place has been completely ripped apart. "Thing?" She asks, and comes across him, stabbed pillar with a knife, and quickly removed the blade. She instantly ran for the bee hive and stormed inside.

"Fester? Fester, help! Help! Help! Thing's not moving. He was stabbed! Get him on the table!" Fester quickly begins to shock Thing to revive him as Wednesday can only watch in despair. But Thing's body stays stiff.

"...He's gone, Wednesday."

"No, he's not. Thing. If you can hear me...if you die, I will kill you. Go again. Now! Again, please!" Fester shocks him multiple times, but nothing changes, a wave of pain hits Wednesday as a single tear forms in her eye, until Thing's thumb began to move. A look of relief washes over Wednesday.

"For a minute, we thought you'd picked your last lock, buddy." Fester says.

"Who did this to you? Knife from behind the back. Cowards. I promise that whoever did this to you will suffer. And it will be slow, long, and excruciatingly painful. Wednesday brushes the tear from her eye. "I'll stitch him back up. They found your motorbike, so...the sheriff won't be far. You need to go. Maybe next time steal something a little less conspicuous."

"Where's the fun in that? All right. I'll lay low here tonight, keep an eye on the patient, and I'll skedaddle in the morning."

"I guess I'll see you at your arraignment or the next family reunion. You'll always be my favorite, Wednesday."

"Be sure to tell Pugsley that. It'll give him a complex." Wednesday smiles slightly at Fester before leaving to find Weems.

"I'm guessing it's not some kind of random prank."

"Whoever ransacked my room also stole Nathaniel Faulkner's diary."

"That's supposed to be safely locked in the Nightshades Library."

"So you do know about that diary, which means you also know the monster we're after is called a Hyde." Wednesday said

"Faulkner spent years studying Hydes. He wanted to determine if they were just mindless killers or conscious of their actions."

"What was his conclusion?"

"He was killed by a Hyde before he could reach one. Others tried to carry on his research, but the Hydes were too unpredictable and violent. They were officially banned from Nevermore 30 years ago."

"All of this time, you've known the monster was a Hyde. Why didn't you tell the sheriff?"

"Because then Nevermore is done. Over. Shut for good. And that's not happening on my watch. But I'm not the only one withholding. If you suspect someone, you need to tell me."

"Why? All you've ever done is gaslight and obstruct me. You don't care how many people die, as long as your reputation is safe."

"I am protecting our Nevermore family, which also includes you, Ms. Addams." Weems responds forcefully. The next morning Y/N was about to relax on the roof of Nevermore before being stopped by Bianca

"Come with me. I have information about Mayor Walker's murder." She says, Y/N follows to the library and sees Wednesday and Lucas the Mayor's son. He shows Wednesday some photos.

"Printed these off my dad's computer. Seems he was trying to track down someone. Laurel Gates? Looks like he started right after Outreach Day."

"Must have recognized her there."

"According to British police, Laurel was presumed drowned, but no body was ever recovered."

"The Gates mansion was purchased a year ago by a 90-year-old candy heiress. She then mysteriously died and gave all of her belongings to her caregiver, Teresa L. Glau." Wednesday said, "Who"? Bianca asks.

"It's an anagram." Wednesday explains. "For what?" Bianca and Lucas ask.

"Laurel Gates" Y/N and Wednesday said in perfect sync

"Laurel secretly buys her old house and then comes back to Jericho as someone else. Why?' Bianca asked.

"Revenge on all the people she blames for her family's misfortunes. Your father. The coroner. My parents. Most of all, Nevermore."

"How does the monster fit into all of this?" Bianca asks

"The monster is a Hyde. It's doing Laurel's bidding. She controls it." Y/N said, Wednesday nods in agreement

"You both know who Laurel is, don't you?"
—————
"Wednesday, we don't have an appointment scheduled today."

Kinbott stood before Wednesday, Y/N hovered outside the window hidden by the winds as he listened in a strange breeze bothering him the entire time

"I wanted to return something. I found it in your old childhood room." She shows Kinbott a music box.

"I know you're Laurel Gates, and you've come back to Jericho to seek your revenge. And so did Mayor Walker, which is why you had to kill him. Who better to slide in and out of the hospital undetected than a psychiatrist under the guise of visiting another patient?"

"...You're not actually accusing me of murdering the mayor?"

"The roses you left in Eugene's room were your mistake. They're the same variety I found near your childhood bed."

"I honestly have no idea what you're talking about."

"There's only one reason an overqualified psychiatrist like yourself would settle in the inconsequential backwater that is Jericho. It allowed you to crawl through the troubled, young minds of outcasts until you found one that you can manipulate to exact your revenge."

"You know what? I don't have time to deal with your delusional fantasies. I have a patient emergency."

"Who? Xavier? I know all about the secret sessions you've been holding in your car. I also found the cave where you've been holding sessions to unlock his Hyde."

"You are so out of line."

"Do you know how violently unpredictable a Hyde can be? It was your plan to have Xavier committed before he could turn on you too."

"Wednesday, you need help. More help than I can give you."

"Who you calling? Xavier?"

"Judge Reynolds. I'm going to recommend you stay in a juvenile psychiatric facility."

"Oh, please. You and I both know I'd be running that place in a week. Time's up, Laurel." Wednesday leaves, as Y/N lands and reappears beside her

"Principal Weems, it's Valerie Kinbott. Wednesday Addams just barged into my office. I wasn't aware that Wednesday had a session today. She didn't, and her behavior was completely irrational!"She yells before she hears something in the bathroom. She opens it up, and sadly that was what cost her, her life. Y/N walks with Wednesday.

"Well, I'd say that went pretty alright." He says

"As it should." She responds, Y/N smiles before a vile, toxic, and murderous wind wraps itself around him, whispering in his ears as it guides him towards...

"NO!" Y/N yells which shocks and surprises Wednesday, in a powerful blast of wind he blasts off back to Kinbott.

"Y/N, Y/N?!" Wednesday follows behind him and Y/N blasts the door open revealing the horrifying scene on the other side, blood everywhere and the mutilated corpse before them. Y/N turns to Wednesday.

"Wednesday, we need to end this now."

Xavier returns back to his art studio and sneaks inside. He turns on the lights to find Wednesday sitting there, with a knife in the table.

"You know what? You need to stay out of my space."

"You need to take your own advice. You left that in my room. Actually, you left it in Thing. How long have you been seeing Kinbott?"

"Have you...?What am I saying? Of course you have. You've been spying on me, right? 'Cause I'm the villain in your fantasy. My father thinks that my mental health is a PR problem that he needs to manage. He wanted to keep his troubled son out of the tabloids. I wasn't in your room. Believe me or don't believe me, I don't care."

"Your painting's been improving. I enjoy this one in particular." Wednesday reveals a painting of Kinbott's face slashed apart

"Feels like you really lived it."

"What do you want?"

"I'm asking the questions. What is Rowan's inhaler doing in your shed? Or Eugene's glasses? Wednesday says revealing all the evidence against him

"Whoa, whoa." Xavier said

"Or these stalker images you took of me?"

"No. I..."

"Don't forget your latest addition. Kinbott's necklace."

"Somebody planted that stuff!" Xavier yells walking towards Wednesday, just then the police barge in.

"Freeze! Drop the knife. Drop the knife. Down on your knees. Cuff him. You have the right to remain silent. What? Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed. Appreciate the help, Addams." The sheriff said, which angers Xavier even more.

"You! You framed me! I'm being set up. I shoulda let Rowan kill you." Xavier is taken away and into custody, the night goes on and Wednesday returns to her dorm to find Enid was there.

"Hey."

"You're back."

"I'm gone for a few days, the place gets trashed, and Thing almost dies. Someones gotta look out for you two."

"What happened to rooming with Yoko?"

"Yoko's great. I just decided I needed a few more boundaries." Enid prepares to tape the floor but Wednesday stops her. "Skip the tape."

"Don't tell me Wednesday Addams is mellowing out."

"Never. More like...evolving."

"Well, one inch of duct tape at a time."

"Why the sudden change of heart?"

"Because we work. We shouldn't, but we do. It's like some sort of weird, friendship anomaly. Everything you said about me is true. But I don't apologize for it. Not anymore. It's just who I am." Enid says confidently

"Thing said he missed you."

"I missed him too. I'm sorry about Xavier."

"I'm not. He's a liar and a killer. Besides... there's nothing quite like the feeling of being proven right."

"Except maybe someone to share it with. Thing may have blabbed about your date with Y/N" Enid says winking, Wednesday just looks at her annoyed, but remembers the enjoyment she had...among other things.

"So how'd it go?" Enid asks, Wednesday thinks about telling her what almost happened

"It was... interrupted, but I will say that idiotic windbreaker knows how to captivate a girl." She finishes, and Enid tries to play it off. "Well, maybe you should go see him? I know he certainly won't mind." She said, and Wednesday agrees.

Y/N sits inside his dorm room floating over his bed when he hears the door knock.

"It's open." He said, Wednesday enters and he lands back down on the floor. He walks over and they get close to one another.

"Are you okay? I'm sure it wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do that to him." Y/N said

"Not really, he was a murder."

"Fair point."

"So, I'm guessing your not just here to talk, mind if we pick up where we left off?~ he leans in, and this time Wednesday doesn't hesitate to do the same, allowing his hand to gently caress her cheek. Their lips finally meet, and the perfect gentle breeze wraps itself around them, playing them both a song of pure bliss. Wednesday has never felt so alive. And Y/N has never felt so free. Although as we already learned earlier the world has a horrible way of ruining things as Wednesday has another vision.

"She watched as Y/N stood to fight someone alongside a massive wolf, his eyes crimson red and dark winds swirling all around him against...Tyler! who transforms into the Hyde! The vision jumps to him staring someone down bloodied and beaten, barely able to stand as he clenches his fist and a dark tornado erupts all around him "I am going to crush you...and throw you into the winds!" The final vision was Wednesday holding his lifeless body as it kept the smile she adored so much. She snaps out of it to Y/N

"Wednesday?! Wednesday?! what's wrong." He asks, frantically, and she just stares at him.

"Of course, the first boy I kiss would then show me visions of his brutal and painful death as he sacrifices himself...

"..Just my luck"

Welp here we are everyone chapter 7 only one more chapter to go and we'll be officially done with season 1 of Wednesday and The Contractor!

Which brings me to something I wanted to ask you all, I've been asked this question from not only some of my writer friends but by you guys in the comments as well so I'm just gonna post the idea to you guys now.

Would you guy be interested in any way at all in a little let's say 3-5 chapter side story after the final episode of the season that follows Y/N after the events of season 1 as sort of a bridge between it and season 2. Although like I said it will be about Y/N specifically and since Wednesday is off with her family she will not appear that much. If you guys do want thay please let me know and I'll happily do it, if not that's ok I'll have a more standard ending ready to go and happily wait for season 2 with you all.

With all that being said I hope you guys liked this chapter I went for a little different style of things compared to how other stories usually have it, so I hope you guys liked it if not I'm very sorry.

But yeah thank you all so so much for all the support and be ready for the season finale of The Contractor! here's a hint to what's gonna happen Y/N...does a thing and says the thing.

But yeah thnk you all love you all and don't forget to take it easy!
