Chapter 15: Karasuno VS Nekoma

As the whistle blew, signaling the start of the match, the ball soared through the air with a smooth serve. (Y/n) glanced over at Keishin, and noticed a conniving smirk spreading across his face. She knew exactly what that mischievous expression meant. Soon enough, a similar wicked grin appeared on her own face. Takeda, the nervous and unsuspecting spectator, looked at the two of them with wide eyes, his expression filled with a mix of excitement and terror.

With unwavering focus, (y/n) watched as Kageyama expertly set the ball, perfectly aligning it for Hinata's explosive spike—their signature and awe-inspiring quick attack. The ball thundered down onto Nekoma's side of the court, leaving their opponents dumbfounded and Nekomata himself howling in disbelief.

"W-what the heck was that?!" Nekomata's voice rang out, a mixture of astonishment and frustration.

In response, (y/n) and her brother turned their attention to the Nekoma coach, their malicious grins mirroring one another. They couldn't resist reveling in the moment, knowing they had caught their rival off guard. The older man glared back at them, his gaze filled with a fiery determination. (Y/n) remembered the promise she had made to her grandfather—the duty to deliver snide remarks on his behalf—and she nudged Keishin, signaling that it was time to unleash their playful jabs.

"Hey, Onii-chan, I think we might be too much for the old cat, eh?" (y/n) teased, her voice filled with mock concern.

Keishin chimed in, amplifying their banter with a hint of theatrical flair. "Yeah, I mean, just look at him. I think he's on the verge of having a heart attack. Poor guy can't handle the stress anymore."

With a mischievous glint in her eye, (y/n) playfully added, "Soon enough, he's going to be... crow food, you old geezer! Cheeeyeahhh!"

Their synchronized taunting jeers reverberated through the gymnasium, their voices filled with playful arrogance. Nekomata, unable to contain his frustration any longer, shouted back at the mischievous siblings, his voice laced with determination.

"Shut it, you two Ukai's! This is just the beginning!" Nekomata's retort rang out, a fierce resolve underlying his words.

The two teams stood frozen in awe, their eyes fixed on the spectacle unfolding before them. The sight of the coaches engaged in a full-blown verbal showdown left the Karasuno boys in a state of shock. They had never witnessed (y/n) so passionately riled up before, and it was a sight that sent shivers down their spines. Asahi, his voice trembling, was the first to break the silence, expressing what everyone else was thinking.

"Well, we can finally tell how they're related," he stammered, his voice tinged with a mix of awe and apprehension.

The rest of the players on both sides of the court nodded in agreement, their wide eyes reflecting the astonishment they felt. It was undeniable—the fierce spirit and fiery nature that ran in the Ukai family bloodline were on full display.

Meanwhile, the realization that the game had momentarily come to a standstill dawned upon the coaches. (Y/n), along with the other coaches, redirected their attention from their intense verbal duel and turned their piercing gazes toward the court. Their collective expressions conveyed a mix of amusement and exasperation as they regarded the boys, who seemed lost in their own world.

"...You just gonna stand there, chatting it up?" Keishin's voice cut through the tense atmosphere, breaking the spell of stunned silence.

The players snapped out of their reverie, their faces flushing with embarrassment. With a unified response, they shook their heads vigorously.

"No," they answered in unison, their voices filled with determination.

Keishin's eyes narrowed, his impatience evident as he bellowed, "Then get back to the game, you idiots!"

Startled by the commanding tone of their coach's voice, the Karasuno boys swiftly snapped back into action, refocusing their attention on the match at hand. Their initial shock transformed into a renewed sense of vigor as they hustled back into position, ready to resume the Battle of the Garbage Dump.

The match raged on, with (y/n) and the coaches engaged in their playful banter, firing off snide remarks whenever their respective teams scored. The gymnasium echoed with the sound of intense spikes and precise receives, the atmosphere charged with both competition and camaraderie.

Nishinoya, known for his exceptional receives, showcased his skills once again as he effortlessly slid in and perfectly received a powerful spike. (Y/n) couldn't contain her excitement and admiration for the libero's impressive play.

"Alright, Noya-senpai! That was a fantastic receive!" she hollered, her voice resonating throughout the gym.

Nishinoya's reaction was nothing short of comical. "Gehah!" he blurted out, his eyes sparkling with delight at her praise. The rest of the team glanced over at him, unimpressed by his antics.

Undeterred, (y/n) continued to cheer and uplift her teammates, determined to keep their spirits high even as they fell behind. She celebrated their every effort and encouraged them to push through the challenging moments.

However, the match grew more intense as Inuoka managed to keep up with Hinata's relentless energy and speed. Despite the pressure, Hinata persisted, refusing to let himself be outmatched. The competition between the two teams reached a fever pitch.

At one point, a ball sailed directly toward Tsukishima, who received it with his characteristic nonchalant demeanor. Instantly, (y/n) unleashed her screeching fury at the tall blonde.

"Oi, String Bean! I taught you how to receive that, so don't be lazy!" she shouted at him, her voice filled with a mix of exasperation and affection.

"Awe, Munchkin-san, you just can't take your eyes off of me, eh?" Tsukishima retorted, unable to resist the opportunity to tease her.

"Keep talking like that, and I won't be able to keep my foot off of you!" she shot back, her words dripping with playful threat.

Nekomata and the other coaches erupted in laughter at the fiery exchange between (y/n) and Tsukishima, while the Karasuno players couldn't help but snicker at (y/n)'s witty response. Tsukishima himself stared back at (y/n), a faint smirk hiding beneath his cool facade.

'I see Munchkin-san can still bite. It'd be boring if she didn't,' he mused to himself, secretly appreciating her fiery spirit.

Sugawara, ever the peacemaker, sidled up to (y/n), attempting to calm her down while also seizing the chance to be in close proximity to her.

"Oh, you're being quite sassy today, Munchkin-san. Could it be that you're feeling a bit embarrassed?" Tsukishima added, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"You certainly have character issues, Tsukishima," grumbled the entire Karasuno team, their voices filled with mock annoyance.

Nekomata chuckled from his bench, thoroughly enjoying the spirited exchange. "You truly are your grandfather's grandchild, spitfire! I almost forgot how competitive you can get," he remarked, his voice laced with amusement.

The Nekoma captain, Kuroo, couldn't resist chiming in, his sly grin hinting at mischief. "Oho, it seems like you guys have quite the firecracker on your side. Cute and feisty, reoooww," he playfully taunted the Karasuno team.

Kenma, however, mumbled from his spot, clearly not fond of his friend's lingering gaze on (y/n). "Kuroo, you're being weird again," he muttered, earning nods of agreement from Yamamoto, Yaku, and Inuoka, who discreetly hoped Kuroo would divert his attention elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the Karasuno boys exchanged glances, secretly plotting the "murder" of the bed-headed male for his audacious behavior.

As the game continued, the momentum shifted, and Karasuno found themselves facing defeat. It seemed the day belonged to Nekoma. However, Hinata, ever determined and unwilling to accept defeat, erupted with an impassioned plea for another game. His fervor ignited a spark in both teams, leading to multiple matches that followed, each ending with Karasuno on the losing side.

By the end of the exhausting battle, Nekomata sported his famous smirk, basking in the triumph. (Y/n) and Keishin, however, shot him intense glares of frustration, with Keishin placing a hand over (y/n)'s mouth to prevent her from unleashing a string of curses.

The gymnasium fell into a mix of emotions—exhaustion, admiration, and a sense of rivalry that ran deep. Though Karasuno had fallen short in their attempts to overcome Nekoma's strength, the match had left an indelible mark on their spirits, igniting a burning desire to come back stronger and reclaim their victory in the future.
