The Colors Of A Home (Chapter 1)
Phil's POV
I looked out the window of the small car, I hated moving. To be fair, I hated this entire thing, but my mum said it would be best for us to get as far away from my father as possible because of what had happened. I looked at one of the bruises that was still fading on my wrist from when my father last hit me. My mum caught him and called the police. I remember being in a hospital bed and having my mum asking me why I never told her again and again, and she hated my dad for it. They got a divorce and both me and my brother had been given into the custody of my mother because my dad was "Unfit to care for a minor." as they so kindly worded it.
"Were here boys! Our new home!" my mum exclaimed excitedly. I carefully limped out of the car and onto the pavement.
I grabbed three boxes out of the car and walked into 'our new home'. I didn't think of this as a home, a home is warm and comforting and most of all has memories. This place was just a shell of that. So no, this place is not my home, it is my house. It's where I live now, nothing more. I walked upstairs and took a look into one of the rooms. It had a large amount of space compared to my old room and it had a window, I looked out the window, revealing the beautiful view of the tree beside our house. Windows were very important to me; the stars had always helped me calm down. this room was a definite no. I walked down the long hall to the end of it, there was a tall oak door with an elegant handle and a lock. I walked in and the room was about the same size as the other room, except it had a better view. I liked this room more because I realized that I could climb out the window and onto the roof. This was now my room. I set down the boxes and started to unpack the small amounts of belongings that hadn't been completely trashed by my fathers drunken spouts of anger that I almost always got caught up in because I was the gay worthless son with bad grades who got bullied.
I went back to the car and helped my brother unpack his things into his room witch was close to the creaky stair well that led into the kitchen. "Hey David! I called the room at the end of the hall." I said as we ate our take-out dinner from a odd place we'd never heard of, "Okay, by the way, were going shopping for some new stuff for the house at about 11:00 tomorrow so be ready to go by then okay?" he asked smiling. "Okay." I replied "oh and you start school in two days sweetie!" my mum chimed in, I just groaned as I put the remnants of my burger in the trash. I walked back up to my almost barren room with a few posters on the walls, I grabbed some pajamas from my drawer, changing into my PJ's and I looked over at my bed it was perfectly made and I made a mental note to thank my mom for that as I climbed into bed quickly falling into the comforting embrace of dreamless slumber.
