Chapter 3 Violet

"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" A young voice cried from behind a trash can.

"Is he breathing?"

"Is he going to survive this?"

"Who did this?"

"Alexander did you know?"

Voices fired at Alexander rapidly as if fired from a machine gun. He pushed them all away and looked at his only living relative. What was his only living relative. He withdrew into his own world. He saw his mother standing there, smiling.

"Mum I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault Alexander."

But the screams from himself drew him back to the world and he saw the broken man who was supposed to be his protector.

No. He shook his head and smiled at Angie. "Sorry I missed what you said."

"I asked if you knew what time it was."

"No. Sorry. I think it's 5:30 something?"

"Thanks anyway Alexander."

Violet: Purple, royal, regal, Roman, seventh color of the rainbow, beautiful flower.

"John Laurens?"

"Here."

"You're next to Angelica Schuyler."

John sat down as his name was called.

"Gilbert Lafayette?"

"Present."

"Next to Vincent in the corner."

"Vienna Marcus?"

"Present."

"Next to Beth Brooks."

Vienna giggled and nodded.

"Alexander Hamilton?"

"¿Sí?"

"Next to Eliza Schuyler."

This went on and on until finally the bell rang and released them to second period. John went his own way towards art class, Laf and Herc to fashion design and creation, and Alexander to the library.

In the corner sat a young girl in a yellow sundress with curly hair pulled back into a pony tail.

"Hello?" Alexander said tentatively, not wanting to startle the young girl.

"Hi I'm Peggy," She said without looking up. "Who are you?"

"Alexander, but you can call me Alex."

"Ok. Why are you here?" She questioned him.

"Uh I have a free period and I like to read," He answered, partially confused and partially unsettled by the girl's directness.

"Ok cool. Can you find me a book called Another Normal Day? It's by Beth Whitman. She used to go by TheFifthZilro so it could be under that name."

"Sure?"

"Thanks," She smiled up at him and then turned back to her book.

"What are you reading?" He asked before leaving.

"Clue, it's by Grey T. H. Egay. It's really good."

"Ok."

Gray: Bland, cloudy, stormy, aged hair, wisdom, 'Grey Eyed Goddess'- Athena.

Who is that boy I see, staring straight back at me? Why does he look broken? Why do his shoulders slump? How many times and in to how many pieces has his heart shattered? The answer to the first question? John Laurens. The second, it's because his is. The third, his shoulders bear more weight than they should. The fourth, he may never know.

"John!" The Words cracked across the room and brought him back from the depth of his thoughts.

"Yes Mr. Grey ?"

"Please pay attention. Now, Amanda and Lucy please explain to Mr. Laurens what he missed."

Giggles erupted from around the room. His cheeks flushed and he nodded at the teacher, catching a glimpse of Sammy and Shreya on their phones, probably on Wattpad. John didn't zone out again after that.
