Chapter-15 Two Night Stars

Deathbringer left the hut as soon as Glory had fallen asleep. He didn't want to, but he had to get information. And what better time to be a secretive NightWing than at nighttime.

One thing was now as clear as water, Destinyseeker had hurt Glory.

And he was going to find out how, and why.

He left the Rainwing village and headed to the Nightwing one.

The Nightwings were bustling around, doing things Rainwings usually do during the day.

He had been flying the whole way, so he landed on the outskirts of the village.

Deathbringer walked around casually, occasionally greeting some friendly Nightwings.

One of them shyly said hi back and waved with their wing.

Things are changing for the better, he thought.

Destinyseeker's hut was somewhere in the center, if he could remember correctly from their last conversation before their moment on the tree the day Glory had been burned.

He saw Mightyclaws working on two sketches of huts for new Nightwing families who had probably just increased in number.

Ever since the Rainwings had received them in the rainforest with open wings, the Nightwing tribe had slightly increased in number.

Deathbringer saw a dragon swiftly swoop down on a platform and head into the hut he had localized as Destiny's.

It was a female alright, and it was slightly limping towards the entrance.

He beat down his wings and flew after her, landing in the same spot she had.

He looked around carefully, his night vision helping in the process, and quietly entered the hut.

She somehow wasn't around, so Deathbringer decided to take a closer look at his surroundings.

Destinyseeker's hut wasn't furnished much. A simple hammock was in one corner, a small wooden table in the center, and a medium sized shelf filled with scrolls in another corner. What caught his attention was that they were partially covered in dust.

As if she didn't really live here.

Moonlight came in through the see through leaves that were used as a roof.

As Deathbringer looked around more closely, he noticed a piece of wood that was out of place.

The Nightwing walked over and tried to move it. It wouldn't budge.

Her hut is probably one of those early ones that were built wrong.

He started to walk away from it, thinking it was nothing until he heard a voice.

His right ear came up and twitched the other way, it was a voice Deathbringer knew all too well.

Destinyseeker

Her voice sounded raspy but hopeful, as if something was coming along her way...

As Glory's bodyguard creeped closer to the piece of wood, he noticed a little hole he hadn't seen before. It was small, but big enough for only his left eye to peek in.

Deathbringer gave a tiny gasp at what he was seeing, Destiny was sitting on her haunches talking with a scroll.

But the thing was, that it wasn't a normal scroll. This scroll was glowing an eerie green, much like how Glory's crown glowed with the exception of the color. The room was tiny, two dragons was about the limit. Pieces of scrolls with sketches were pinned to the wall with descriptions too small for him to read.

The ex-assasin picked his ears up and listened as intently as he could.

"I almost lost it! And you want me to keep going! No wonder no one liked you!" She sounded mad but pleading.

"Patience Destinyseeker, your thing is important to the plan as well, do not fret over it. It will be alright, after our plan takes place, you will have him and I will have her," responded a deep male voice.

"You're lying! My parents said that before they left, and they never came back! They said not to worry, and now worrying is all I do." Destiny sounded as if she was the width of a leaf away from tears.

Something tugged at Deathbringer's heart. Sure, Destinyseeker was sometimes a fool, but she had a dark past that most dragons didn't have.

"Listen, if you follow the steps I told you everything should go according to plan. The Rainwing is falling for my heartbreaking story, it's only a matter of time before-" the unknown voice got cut off by a noice.

Deathbringer had accidentally clawed at the wood. The information he had heard was too confusing for him, and the pressure had been released in his talons.

"We shall talk later, close the communication," the scroll said and it returned to the normal color a scroll should be.

Destinyseeker closed it and turned around so sharply that Deathbringer had no time to step back.

She pushed the piece of wood outward, the action sent it flying into his face, and gave him a glare that would send a newly hatched dragonet scurrying back to its mother.

Deathbringer just clutched his eye in pain.

Stupid wood, why do you always give me away!

Destiny's glare vanished however, when she realized it was her friend that was standing before her. Her terrifying glare was replaced with the most unnatural cheerful smile that any dragon would ever witness.

"Death! I was just going to go find you, glad you came to look for me!"

"I have questions for you, Destinyseeker," he growled and tried but failed to ignore the pain in his eye.

"And I have answers for you Deathbringer. But first you have to give me your weapons." She gestured at the pouch on his neck which held about five mini blades.

He hissed but gave it to her, he would do anything for Glory's safety and well-being.

She tossed it behind her, and with her hind leg she kicked the piece of wood back into place. Blocking Deathbringer's view of her plans.

"So thing is Death, you have to stick with me now," she said in a way that was supposed to explain everything.

Deathbringer only laughed maniacally and responded,"I would've been by your side if you wouldn't have hurt the dragon I care for the most!"

He shouted the last part with such emotion that it made Destiny flinch. She quickly recovered however and gave him an evil like grin.

"But you can't, I'm your new partner now."

"In your sick dreams," he spat.

"Oh Death, but you have no option. It's the law, put in by Glory herself." Destiny giggled slightly at the thoughts in her head.

Deathbringer scrunched his face in confusion and started to slowly back away. He didn't show it, but he was getting scared.

"What law? And why are you like this?"

Destinyseeker chuckled evilly and finally spilled her secret.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm with egg, which I should be laying soon, and you are the father."
