Chapter-10 Rainbow to Star
Starflight could hear Fatespeaker's calm and quiet snoring. How she was so tranquil after everything that had happened, he had no idea.
He unsurprisingly wondered how Glory expected him to read his scroll if he was as blind as a bat.
He wouldn't admit it, but he knew that he was blind for a reason. Maybe one day he would figure it out, or maybe not. Call it Sunny talk or whatever, but he believed that everything happened for a reason.
He carefully opened the scroll his friend left for him. And let out a small gasp when he felt the letters.
He ran his claws down the scroll. Every single letter was somehow stitched onto the scroll.
Starflight could feel every sentence, and if he made his brain work hard enough, he could read.
He could read the scroll!
Oh, Glory. I'm not surprised that you figured out a way for me to read. You and I were always the big brains weren't we.
Tears were starting to fall down the side of his face. Why did everything happen to Glory?
Because she's strong and can deal with anything in her way.
He decided to not delay the moment and started to feel/read the scroll.
Starflight,
Surprise!
I was thinking really hard on how I would help you read this. I know Fatespeaker reads you anything you want, but I can tell it's not the same to you. And I wanted this to be only from me to you.
I talked to Grandeur about it and she told me about when she was a dragonet and still had scrolls in the village. Apparently Tamarin isn't the first blind Rainwing. Well, another Rainwing called Wonder also had this barrier blocking his path a long time ago.
He loved to hear other dragons telling him stories, but he wanted to find a way for him to read scrolls by himself. Wonder eventually found out that when you stitch correctly, you can make out the letters with your talon.
So I'm working everyday stitching this scroll just for you.
It's tough trust me.
I also know you were trying to make scrolls for future blind dragons, so I have another surprise for you.
So that you don't have to work every day and night to make scrolls for your students like I did, I'm telling you a secret.
Wonder had the same idea as you, and he left a whole library full of scrolls for blind dragons.
Although in the future you might need to make some yourself.
Just go to the south edge of the village and walk for about one hour.
This part should be somewhat abandoned and old, but it's what makes the library special.
Grandeur said that only a blind dragon would be able to find it, and I think it's true. I tried searching myself but I didn't find anything. I felt it though, it's there that's for sure.
Good luck Starflight, and know that I love you even with your professor like remarks. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine wherever it is that I'm supposed to go. Thank you for being a good friend.
With all my heart,
Glory
Starflight couldn't help the tiny squeals that escaped his throat. He had a whole library for himself. And he could read scrolls now!
His heart clenched at the thought of his friend. But he knew she was going to be ok.
After all, she was the strongest dragon he knew. Even though Tsunami could make good competition in certain areas, Glory was always the strongest mentally.
Starflight tucked away the scroll in a place he wouldn't forget later, and stayed awake most of the night thinking about the future.
