It was dark, there was blood and it was raining hard outside. A small girl and her sister were huddled in the corner, staring at the body in front of them with fear flooding inside their bodies. Suddenly, the man and his men who attacked them had returned. They aimed a gun at the girls and fired. Then everything went black.

I shot up from my bed, terrified of the nightmare. I took a couple breaths to calm myself and looked around, taking in my surroundings. I was in the same room that I fell asleep in, my room to be exact. Now certain that I was going to be okay, I climbed out of bed and got ready

for school. I looked at myself in the mirror. ¨Not bad looking Maria¨ I thought. I zipped up my My Chemical Romance hoodie, and put on my red beanie, which looked exactly like Tyler Joseph's from Twenty One Pilots! I found myself squealing and laughed at myself. I grabbed my headphones and left the room.

Sliding down the railing of the stairs, I landed right in front of my shy, pretty, and smart twin sister, Pepper. ¨Morning Pepper, did you sleep well?¨ I asked her. Pepper simply nodded, smiled and headed to the kitchen. Pepper is a bit taller than me and her hair is a lighter shade of brown. She can talk, she just doesn't talk a lot. We both prefer sign language, so we can talk to our cousin, Meulin. Jumping off the rail, I followed my sister to the kitchen. Today we both start a new school, Alternia High School. Our cousins will be helping us, so we are not completely scared. ¨Hey sweetie, are you excited for school?¨ My mom said, looking away from the stove and directly at me. I smiled a bit shyly and sat down. "Excited, eh but if we are talking about scared of being devoured on the first day then i'm all hands on deck!" I exclaimed, biting a huge chunk out of my breakfast burrito. Pepper laughed and nodded to me in approval as my mother rolled her eyes at me in annoyance. ¨Nice one Maria¨ Pepper said, high fiving me. My mom sighed , ¨Just don't forget your colored contacts girls.¨ My mom reminded us. Pepper and I both groaned and headed to the restroom to put on our contacts. It's not that we need contacts, in fact our eyesight is great. We wear colored contacts for one reason only, the color of our natural eyes. You see my father had hazel eyes, but Pepper and I somehow both have our mother's eyes, or I should say we both have one of our mothers eye colors. My mother has a beautiful crystal blue eye that literally looks like a diamond for her right eye, and a sparkly pink crystal like eye for her left. Thats one way to tell Pepper and I apart, she has pink crystal like eyes, and I have the diamond like crystal blue eyes. Since Pepper and I have unnatural eyes, our mother had gotten us hazel colored contacts. It kinda sucks that we can't show our real eye color.

After Pepper and I put on our contacts, we looked at each other and made sure we looked fine enough for our new school. Pepper had her light brown hair wavy, with a pink headband. The fake hazel eyes made her look very pretty, but not as pretty as her pink eyes would make her. She was wearing a regular gray shirt with a pink leo sign with a messed up slash through the middle. Then she put on a light gray vest over the shirt. She wore bootcut, skinny jeans were never our favorite. To pull it all off, she slipped on some gray converse and did her signature shy glance. ¨Perfect,¨ I said, giving her a thumbs up.Pepper bowed as if she was a famous performer and giggled . ¨Okay now you!¨ She said while standing back, examining my look.I stood there, feeling a bit awkward.

I was wearing what I wore when I left my room, I just put my straightened my hair and added a dark blue hair clip. My sister had forced me to wear something that's ¨Girl related¨ whatever that means, so i'm stuck wearing stupid earrings and a bracelet. ¨You look great!¨ Pepper said with a big pretty smile. ¨Thanks sis¨ I simply said. ¨Girls! The bus is here!¨ My mom hollered from the kitchen. My sister and I grabbed our backpacks and ran out the door, just as the bus pulled up. The doors swung open with a creak and my sister and I walked in and sat in the back. I put in my earbuds and put on ¨Lovely¨ by Twenty One Pilots on. About 8 minutes later, both my cousins Meulin and Nepeta Leijon joined us in the back. We nodded to each other and talked about how Pepper and I already hate this school that we haven't even stepped foot on yet. The bus pulled to the school about 10 minutes later and we waited until everyone before us got off before we finally stepped off the bus. The four of us stood there as we stared at it. Alternia High School was right there, we just had to take like what, twenty steps and we were at the door. We all sighed and slowly made our way to the prison that looked innocent on the outside. Pepper and Meulin went off to first period, leaving Nepeta and I there. We both sighed as we made our way to the second floor, not ready to face one of the many wardens in this prison. I can feel myself shiver at the thought of the drama, annoying people, teachers that sound like they just left the military, and ew learning. Nepeta and I groaned and entered the classroom, expecting the horror to begin.
