two: the cat
Ryan smiles at the camera crew as he walks up the stairs to his apartment. He makes sure they step around the hole in the stairs that has not been fixed yet and leads them further up the stairs.
"So, it's not exactly the best place to live but what do you expect from a broke college student?" Ryan tells them as he walks down the hall.
"Believe it or not, it's actually better than the dorms on campus," Ryan continues, "and I'm actually living with someone of my choice. My best friend, Z!"
Ryan stops in front of a door with the label '3A'. He digs around in his pocket until he grabs a painted neon pink key with his first initial on it.
"We decided it would be best if we paint our keys to tell them apart from any other keys. So, we chose our favorite colors! Mine is pink," Ryan explains.
He turns to the door and wiggles the key in, "you guys will like Z. She's very smart and kind and just a wonderful person to be around overall."
Finally, Ryan manages to unlock the door and push it open. He freezes in his spot and his eyes widen.
"OH MY GOD!" Ryan exclaims and quickly pushes the camera crew out. He was really hoping the crew wasn't scarred by the visual. Yet, the crew would get a good look at it later in editing. The camera managed to catch a glimpse of a very naked woman curled around a very naked Z.
Ryan slams the door closed and leans back against it. His eyes were tightly shut as he tried to get the image out of his head.
—
Ryan: So, that's what Z does with her girlfriend's love tunnel...
—
The next day at work, Dallon can't help but smirk at the traumatized expression on Ryan's face. He didn't exactly know what happened to make Ryan contemplate his life, but whatever or whoever it was Dallon thanks them.
(Yet, he was also jealous because he wasn't the one who made Ryan look like that today.)
Dallon walks over to Ryan and roughly pats his back. Ryan jumps up from the counter and glares at the taller man.
"What do you want?" Ryan mumbles.
"Just wanted to see what got your knickers in a twist!" Dallon replies, "let me guess, they cancelled your scarf subscription?"
Ryan rolls his eyes and pushes Dallon away. He storms off into the back, his middle finger held up just for Dallon to see on the entire walk back.
Dallon grins at the camera.
—
Dallon: Ryan is so easy to piss off. I could make even the weakest insult, and it still pisses him off! [laughs] That kid is so sensitive, it's almost sad.
—
Josh watches as Ryan storms to the back and turns his attention to the laughing Dallon. He frowns at his coworker, obviously not enjoying the torment he set on his other coworker.
"Dallon, I don't know if that was very nice," Josh says, "what if something really bad happened, and that is why Ryan is upset?"
Dallon rolls his eyes at Josh and shakes his head, "Josh, go clean the toilets."
Josh grins happily and nods, "yes sir!"
Then he runs off to the back. Dallon just shakes his head in amazement at his, slightly, inept friend. He grins fondly when he can hear Josh's happy whistling.
—
Pete: Nobody messes with Josh. Seriously, the kid is too nice for his own good. Also, he's a bit... [twirls his finger next to his head, whistles, laughs] ...but of course, I mean that in the most respectful way.
—
Z Berg, Ryan's friend and naked woman the crew filmed yesterday, walks into the shop. She is glowing and radiating positivity with each step she takes up to the counter.
Ryan on the other hand, glares at the grinning girl her whole walk up. He knows her best, and he will not fall for her innocent facade.
Z grabs Ryan's hands and kisses his knuckles, "how is my favorite gay?"
Ryan snatches his hands away and pouts, "still traumatized from seeing his roommate fixing a girl's gash."
Z proudly grins back, "hey, I have my needs. Also, nice job at your slang usage!"
Ryan mentally pats his back.
—
Z: My name is Z, and I'm sure you all already got a good look at what I do for a living. [grins] I wouldn't call it being a prostitute exactly. I like to think of it as me pleasuring people and I just get a few bucks back. [shrugs] It's just what I like to do.
—
Z slides around the counter and bumps shoulders with her best friend. Ryan gives her a small grin, not being able to stay mad at the blonde for long.
"Have you heard from Spencer at all?" Z asks. Her hands roam to Ryan's hair and she begins to braid the back.
"Well, he is still on his ex's floor," Ryan replies.
Z raises an eyebrow, "he still hasn't been able to find a place? Wow."
Ryan just shrugs back. They couldn't really help out their friend, who was currently living with their ex-boyfriend, and have him move in. It was only a two person apartment and they made a deal that only two people live in it. If they were to break it, they could face serious consequences.
Ryan looks back at Z over his shoulder, "isn't it weird how we have never met this guy or even know his name? Spencer always talked so highly about him, and now they're done."
Z shrugs, "well yeah, but-."
A shriek comes from the back, and Dallon is running out. He is breathing heavy and holding on to the counter. Ryan and Z watch the tall man gain his breath back.
"There's... something... disgusting... back there!" Dallon explains, still catching his breath.
"What is it?" Ryan asks. Yet, he really did not care because he was sure this was probably some stupid prank against him.
Dallon waves his arms, "go see! Go!"
Sighing, Ryan walks to the back. Z behind with his coworker since she didn't really care as much about this 'disgusting' item. The crew follows Ryan.
Ryan makes his way inside the office and looks around. Everything seems completely fine. Nothing was too out of place except for the back door being opened. Ryan closes the door shut and turns back around.
That is when he spots it.
"You have got to be kidding me!"
It was a cat.
—
Ryan: Dallon is afraid of cats. Cats! [laughs] This is incredible! The self proclaimed tough employee is scared of paws and a tail. [buries his face in his hands, laughs harder]
Dallon: I am not scared of cats! They are just creepy with how they are always watching. There eyes are f**king soulless, and they have their sharp claws and they always try to chew your fingers off! [leans back in chair, scared look on face] They are trying to wipe out the human race.
—
Ryan walks back to the front with the cat snuggled in his arms and cuddling his chest. He grins when he sees Dallon's eyes widen and backing further from the feline.
Z coos, "aww! Look at the baby!"
She walks over and gently scratches the cat's tummy. The cat seems to enjoy the action as she rolls onto her back and lets Z attack her with love.
Dallon shakes his head, "that is not a baby! Th-That is evil incarnated!"
Ryan smirks. The opportunity was just too good to be true.
"What Dallon? You mean this sweetheart here?" Ryan asks, his face feigning innocence as he walks closer to Dallon with the cat.
Dallon just shakes his head, slightly shaky as the cat's soulless eyes stare at him. Quickly, he jumps over the counter and runs outside shouting, 'no!' the entire way.
Ryan laughs and pulls the cat close to his chest. He gives the animal a high paw.
—
Ryan: [grins] That was the most satisfying moment of my life.
—
A hour later, Pete manages to drag Dallon back to the shop and our him to work. He makes Ryan promise to keep the cat in the office the rest of the day then take him home after.
The owner hangs up a "pet found" sign on the front window incase the owner comes looking for the pet around here.
While Dallon was not very enthusiastic about the cat, Josh kept feeding the cat and giving her water while Ryan came in to check from time to time. Pete was too busy staring at something across the street to take notice of the cat at all. Ashley couldn't help and stay behind in the office to play with her. She let the cat chew the ends of her hair as well as her fingers. She was falling in love with the feline.
Dallon rolls his eyes as he watches Ashley walk to the back again.
—
Dallon: Cats are nothing but disgusting and manipulative creatures. They have NO remorse, they are not loyal like dogs, and have I mentioned that they are trying to wipe out the human race? [crosses arms] Can't trust anyone at work now. The cat has them all under its paw. Too late for them, but I can save myself.
—
When Brendon walks into the shop today, the usual smile on his face seems to be brighter today as he walks to the counter.
"You have a cat?!"
Dallon holds back the tears.
—
Dallon: I should have guessed Brendon would fall for it to. [shakes head] Another one bites the dust.
Brendon: I love cats! I've always wanted a pet cat, but my mom is allergic and I am not allowed any pets in my dorm unless stated otherwise. When I get my own place, I am going to own twenty cats and let them roam freely in the house and backyard! [bounces excitedly] I will be a cat God!
—
"I can't believe you like cats. You seem more like a dog person," Dallon comments.
Brendon shrugs, "how can you not? All animals are cute!"
"Are cows still cute when you have them over for dinner?"
Brendon pouts at Dallon and crosses his arms. Dallon could be a bit harsh sometime when he's really annoyed. For some reason, that only seems to happen when Brendon is around.
Yet, Brendon shakes the thought away. He's learned that it's never good to dwell on anything negative. Changing subjects, he leans down on the counter and gives Dallon a flirtatious smile.
"So, about that performance-."
A dirty rag is thrown at Brendon's face before he could finish his sentence.
"Not interested."
—
Josh: That cat nipped at my chest today. I think she thinks I'm her mom. [looks down at nipples] Produce milk d*mn it! She is hungry!
Ashley: I know we shouldn't name her since she isn't ours technically, but I already have a couple names picked out for her incase we get to keep her around the shop! [pulls out FIVE sheets of notebook paper, all filled up with names] Do you want me to start at the A's or the Z's?
—
Ryan was the last one to leave work tonight. He promised Pete he would close the shop up since his boss was nice enough to keep the cat around.
Speaking of the cat, she becomes Ryan's new counter buddy as she watches him clean up around the shop and cuddles up against the tired employee. Ryan grins back at her and scratches under her head as well as sneaks her a few pieces of the leftover pastries.
Just as the clock was about to turn six, the front door chimes. Ryan, slightly annoyed by the late customer, release a quiet sigh and keeps his focus on the counter.
"How may I help you?" Ryan asks.
"Clover!"
Due to the sudden outburst, Ryan looks up from the counter to the latest customer walking to the counter.
A young and handsome man grins at the cat standing next to Ryan. His brown eyes were shining with water collecting inside, and his grin was radiating with relief. He walks over to the cat and gently picks her up then nuzzles his face into the cat's head. The cat nuzzles her face into the man's beard.
Ryan smiles at the reunion in front of him. It's always cute to see a person reunite with someone they care about. Especially if that someone was a lost pet.
The man looks back up at Ryan with the tears fulls exposed and running down his cheeks. Ryan swallows hard as he gets a better look at the man in front of him. His hands nervously wring each other, and his throat feels like it's getting tighter.
"Hi..." he mumbles.
The man grins at the employee, "thank you so much for finding my cat! I don't think you realize how much of a life saver you are dude!"
"No problem. She's very sweet..."
Unexpectedly, Ryan finds himself in a warm and tight hug with the cat owner. At first, he's frozen and unsure of how to respond. Finally, he shakily wraps his arms around the other man and rubs his back.
The man pulls back, still grinning as bright as he was earlier. He pats gently Ryan's shoulder. Ryan just remains slightly tense under his touch. His stomach churning a bit as he continues staring.
"What's your name?" The man asks.
"Ry-Ryan..." he replies.
"Nice to meet you Ryan, my name is Jon. Again, thank you so much for helping my cat. You have no idea how much it means to me!"
Ryan nods, "no problem..."
Jon steps away from Ryan and scratches at the Clover's belly a bit. Ryan just continues to watch the owner and the pet's sweet reunion.
—
Ryan: I'm happy that we managed to find her owner! Clover is a really nice name and Jon seems like really nice man. [small smile] Really nice.
Crew: You seemed nervous around him.
Ryan: Nervous? I-I wasn't nervous! I was just caught off guard! [flustered] I have no idea what you are trying to imply here! I'm going home! [stands up, walks out]
—
Jon looks back up at the employee, "I am going to write a positive review about the shop and you."
Ryan blushes, "oh, you don't have to..."
"No, I need to! Everyone deserves to know that you guys are basically heroes to my cat! Especially you."
Ryan's face turns even more red and he ducks his head down as Jon continues to ramble on about how much he appreciates him. As the camera manages to zoom in, they catch a glimpse of Ryan's tiny, fond smile.
