seven: day off
Pete: Every other Saturday, the staff has a day off. Saturdays are usually the best day of the week, and it would suck working every Saturday so that is why I came up with this genius idea!
Camera Crew: Dallon said it was an excuse to try and get into Mr. Stump's pants.
Pete: ...That f**king giraffe. Don't listen to him!
—
Pete knocks on the door and waits patiently for Patrick to open the door. He looks at the camera and gives a nervous smile.
Patrick opens the front and smile brightly, "hey Pete!"
—
Patrick: After the whole allergy incident, I felt bad for Pete. He had no idea about the cinnamon thing, and he was just trying to be nice. So, I invited him to come help me around the shop today. [leans back in seat] I also invited him, so he could grow some balls and finally confess his feels to me when I'm not "sleeping" in a hospital bed.
—
"Come in! We have a lot of moving around to do!" Patrick says, and moves away to let the other owner in.
Pete grins, very enthusiastic to just be near Patrick and not to help rearrange the shop, "I'm really looking forward to this."
"You say that now. Just wait till I get bossy."
"I'm sure you're not that bad. You're too cute to be bossy."
Patrick's eyes widen, and his face turns red as he shuffles his way to the front desk. His next words were a stumbling mess, but that did not seem to bother Pete. As the camera zooms in on his face, Pete is smiling harder than ever before as he sees the flustered Patrick.
"L-Let's get started," Patrick mumbles, and hands Pete a very colorful lamp.
—
Pete: [dreamy sigh] He is so cute.
—
Ryan is flipping through a library book as he and Z listen to Spencer complain about his ex-boyfriend.
Again.
"No, and I'm positive he has a crush on someone now!" Spencer groans, and buries his face in his hands.
Z raises her eyebrow, "Spence, why does it matter? You broke up with him."
"Okay, but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt to see your ex —who was your longest relationship— fawning over some stupid, button nose, doe eye boy!"
Z laughs, "plot twist, the boy is Ryan."
She then pokes Ryan's own button nose. Ryan glares and slaps her hand away. He rubs his nose as it starts to itch a bit due to Z's acrylic poking it.
"Thankfully it's not. After hearing all of Spencer's complaints, his ex sounds like a no good druggie with no future ahead of him," Ryan says and flicks at Z's forehead, "he sounds like he would be an awful boyfriend."
Z rolls her eyes and rubs her forehead, "cause no one ever meets Ryan Ross' "perfectly reasonable" standards."
Ryan just grins and flips to the next page in his book.
Yet, Spencer was not done with that conversation, "Z has a bit of a point. Either lower your standards, or bend over for your coworker."
Ryan slams his book shut and glares at Spencer, "Dallon James Weekes is the very reason as to why my standards are high. He is irresponsible and childish an-!"
"He doesn't have a college degree," Spencer and Z finish the sentence for him.
Ryan shrugs, "you get my point then."
—
Ryan: The thought of even kissing Dallon make me want to vomit. [scoffs] Dallon is no good and an absolute dick! I can't believe Z and Spencer would ever think I want to press myself against him. [crosses arms] I have standards!
—
Spencer checks his watch and groans, "my break is over. I have to head back. Are we still good for that movie tonight?"
Z nods, "we'll pick you up around six."
Spencer grins, "awesome. See you then!"
He kisses Z's cheek and ruffles Ryan's hair before he ran back to finish his shift. Spencer works in a sandwich shop, so Z and Ryan decided to have lunch there during his break so they can all chat/Spencer can complain about his ex-boyfriend.
Ryan holds the door open for Z as they walk out of the shop, "he still hasn't bothered giving us a name for his ex."
Z shrugs and wraps her arms around Ryan's arm, "does it matter? They are done for. Like Brad and Jennifer."
"As well as Brad and Angelina."
Z whines, "do NOT remind me Ross. They were meant for each other."
Ryan grins and shakes his head.
The pair continue to walk down the sidewalk and look at each shop they past. None too interesting for them to walk in and check out. None, until a tiny shop makes Ryan's feet freeze.
He turns himself and Z around to look at the front of a tiny shop. While it looks like it does not offer a lot, it still left Ryan speechless for one reason.
"Music shop," Ryan whispers.
Z grins brightly and drags Ryan inside. She jumps for joy as soon as she spots the guitar section and drags the pair over.
"Ryan, we need to get guitars and start a band. I keep telling you this!" Z says and gently grabs one of the guitars on display.
Ryan just chuckles and nods before he turns to admire the stringed instruments some more. As soon as one caught his eye, he reaches out for it. Ryan has been dying to touch an instrument for God knows how long.
"Well, if it isn't my favorite barista!"
Ryan rips his hand away from the guitar and turns around. His cheeks begin to feel very hot and he wrongs his hands together nervously.
"Hi Jon."
—
Z: [smirks at the camera crew] Maybe it's not Dallon that Ryan wants to bend over for. [winks]
—
Pete pops his back once he finally managed to put the dresser in the place Patrick desired, "got it Pat!"
Across the shop, Patrick was standing on a ladder and rearranging the most valuable items up top, "you are amazing Pete! Thank you!"
Pete walks over to where the ladder stood and watches as the tiny man on top is concentrating hard on the task at hand. He grins fondly as he notices Patrick's tongue sticking out along with his scrunching nose.
"So cute," Pete mumbles.
Patrick looks down, "what?"
Pete's eyes widen, "nothing! Nothing!"
He turns away and busies himself at the front desk. The camera pans away from the flustered man and zooms in on the annoyed look on Patrick's face.
—
Patrick: Desperate times call for desperate measures.
—
Patrick makes sure Pete isn't looking before he makes his very reckless decision.
Patrick steps down and fakes his foot slipping, the ladder begins to shake at the sudden action. He yelps, and grips tightly.
"Pete! Help!"
Pete looks over and his eyes widen, he runs over to the ladder and grabs it tightly to make sure it securely stays.
"I got it Pat. You're okay," Pete tells him assuringly.
Patrick nods and continues to climbs down the steps before he faked slipping on another step and falls backwards. Pete —thinking quickly— steps back and holds his arms out. He manages to catch the antique owner and hold him tightly as the pair tumble back on to the floor.
Pete groans and lifts his head up. He didn't know when, but Patrick had rolled over onto his stomach to look down at Pete. The smaller man smiles at him, looking very grateful.
"You saved me," Patrick said.
Pete shrugs, "kinda owe you after almost killing you last time."
Patrick laughs and shakes his head then cups Pete's face. Pete's eyebrows furrow and he stares at him with confusion painted on his face.
"What are you doing?" Pete whispers.
Patrick just smiles, "I think the hero deserves a gift for saving my life."
Then he leans down and kisses Pete.
—
Pete: [smirks] Yup, still got it.
Patrick: [rolls eyes] Guys go for the whole, "thanks for saving my life" kiss. [shrugs] Pete is no exception to that.
—
Dallon is fixing his shirt as he steps into the library. He looks around and bites his as he notices a pretty big crowd gathered near the tiny stage. He grabs a seat near the back and rubs his thighs. Dallon looks down at the simple pink rose he held in his hand, and bit his lip.
—
Dallon: Maybe I feel something for him. Maybe. [looks down at the flower, small smile, looks back up] Ashley said he likes pink roses.
—
Dallon claps as he watches Brendon walk up on stage with an acoustic guitar in his hands. He waves a hand up at Brendon to get his attention. Yet when Brendon looks up, he seems to be looking at someone else and waves to them.
Dallon frowns, but does not take it to heart. It's a pretty big crowd and he is sat in the back, so it's obvious Brendon could not have been able to spot him.
Brendon moves up to the microphone, "hello everyone! It's great to be back and perform for you all!"
The crowd cheers in response. Dallon being the loudest of the cheers.
Brendon clears his throat and continues, "so, this is an original song I wrote. Hope you like it."
Then Brendon begins plucking the strings on his guitar and the crowd is being carried around in a folky, uplifting tone.
"Allow me to exaggerate a memory or two," Brendon sings, "where summer's lasted longer than, well longer than we do."
Dallon grins and taps his foot along to the song. The camera zooms in on his face, and catch the admiring look he gave to the singer. The camera moves down and zooms in on the rose he is gripping even tighter.
The camera pans away from the admiring man and moves back to the singer as he gets closer to finishing the song.
"If love is not enough to put my enemies to sleep, then I'm putting out the lantern, find your own way back home."
Brendon strums the last chords and bows as the crowd cheers. Dallon stands and claps the loudest for the singer as he walks off stage. The smile was not leaving his face any time soon.
The crowd stands and disperse as they take a fifteen minute break before the rest of the performers go on. Dallon pushes his way through to the stage to find Brendon. He squeezes the rose tightly again and almost broke its spine.
As soon as he spots the dark, floppy hair, Dallon takes a deep breath and makes his way over. He holds the flower behind his back and reaches out to tap Brendon's shoulder.
Until a dark hair girl jumps up on Brendon and wraps her arms around him tightly. Brendon wraps his own arms around her waist and holds her close to him. Dallon takes a step back and watches, the rose still held behind his back.
Yet, it falls to the ground when Brendon kisses the girl in his arms.
Dallon runs out of the library.
—
Brendon: Hey! Look what I found! [holds up Dallon's rose] A rose! I love roses! [smiles at it] Especially the pink ones. Isn't it beautiful?
—
"So, am I going to see you Monday?" Ryan asks.
Jon grins and crosses his arms, "of course. I can't imagine spending my lunch break with anyone better."
Ryan blushes, "looking forward to it."
With their goodbyes, Ryan walks out of the shop and over to where Z is waiting. She smirks as she watches her friend walk to her with a tiny skip in his step.
"So, who was that?" She asks.
"Hmm? Oh, Jon. He's the one who owns the cat we found," Ryan replies.
Z nods, "he's cute."
Ryan just smiles. Z raises an eyebrow at him, but doesn't comment on it. The two begin their path back to Spencer's work in a comfortable silence.
As the two near Spencer's work, Z asks one more question.
"Hey, how's Brendon?"
Ryan furrows his eyebrows, "who?"
Z just smirks and shakes her head, "never mind."
