Book: Fake
Genre: Short Story
Mature: No
LGBTQ: No
Author: InfinitiveGamer2005.
Book Title
The one word title is short and sums up the entire story in one word.
Book Cover
The cover is a perfect one for the storyline featuring three girls who are the main characters of the book.
Book Description
The book description has been written well to give the right amount of information needed for the readers to hit the “read” button.
Plot
The book features three teenage girls who are friends having their own stories. The book is divided into three sections with each having significance with the other two.
Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar & Vocabulary
The author did well at these sectors except for some slight misused punctuation. The vocabulary used is simple for readers to understand.
Writing Style, Character Development, Setting Development & Flow
One thing I loved about this book is that, the author’s clean job regarding the point of views and dialogues. It was pretty easy to understand which character was talking and what was going on. Speaking of the characters, I got some idea about their physical appearance while I felt the author presented them well as their personality wise. The setting seemed okay to me for a short story. The author needs to focus more on the flow because there were a few places where the flow fell. In 2[Faking Death], the author states that Justine leaves her favorite doll Pikachu at her house but in 3[Faking Death], the author states that Justine hugs Pikachu- this wasn’t clear to me. In 6[Faking Death], the author states that Erica was in touch with Justine’s parents but there were no references made as to how that happened. Another question that came to my mind was, I was not very sure as to why Erica waited for so long to reunite Justine with her parents. I’d also suggest the author to be more specific with their words. In 3[Faked My Smiles], Josh says that he is an orphan; however, later we are introduced to Josh’s dad- I think this could be well written if the author provided something more such as “Josh’s foster father.”
Creativity & Enjoyment
I had never read such an interesting work before. This was absolutely different with three stories merging into one. Each of the three sections had three different morals in them and the author brought them together in a separate chapter at the end which I must admit that it was one creative idea. I’d definitely recommend this book to readers.
