Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Hazel Sinclair.

When Christian and I entered the lobby of my apartment building, both of our eyes met that of Jayden's. But he quickly looked down and turned to the cute little girl in his lap, playing with his hands.

"Hey there, little one!" Christian's loud voice called the little girl in Jayden's lap.

"Jay, bro! What's up?!"

Jayden and Christian shared a fist bump with each other and I smiled at the girl. The little girl visibly blushed and shy away from me.

"Hey, Hazel." Jayden smiled up at me and I fought the urge to smile back. Instead, I just smiled a teeny tiny, an almost smile and replied back.

"Hi, Jayden." The look in his eyes had me pinning. I couldn't break the eye contact that I had been managing with Jayden for the past couple of minutes.

Just when we heard the squeal of six years old girl, our eye contact broke and we looked away to find the girl in Christian's arms, laughing as he played with her.

"...uh, Elena, meet my friend here," Jayden called the six years old girl and sat her on his lap. "Say hello to Hazel."

Elena giggled and hid her face in his bicep, mumbling something.

"Fine, I'll give you candies without mom seeing when you get back from the summer camp. Okay? Now, say hello to Hazel." He mumbled to the little girl.

"Hello to Hazel..." Elena laughed with mischief in her eyes.

"I'll tell mom that you forgot all your etiquette classes..." Jayden smirked at Elena who made a shocked face.

"No! You wouldn't do such a thing! Please." She pleaded with her eyes and Jayden raised up his eyebrows. "Okay, okay. Hello, Hazel."

Elena grinned childishly at me which was adorable. "Hi, Elena!" I gushed.

Wait, what? I don't like kids. Eww.

I turned to Christian to speak but before I could, he spoke. "Heh, Jay. What are you doing here in the lobby, by the way?"

Jayden was busy looking at me, and when he found Christian looking intently at him, he smiled and flushed. "Oh, uh..." He cleared his throat. "Mom's leaving town with Elena for three months. Because Elena needs to attend her summer camp and learn a few more etiquette classes..."

At this, Elena face palmed herself. "I don't wanna learn more etiquette classes!"

Jayden looked down at the girl. "Yes, honey. You do." He whispered to her.

"Well, I and Hazel are gonna go upstairs to her apartment. See you later, Jay." And then Christian grabbed my arm and led me upstairs.

Walking inside my apartment, Christian sighed. "I think something's wrong with Jayden..."

"Why would something be wrong with him?" I spoke. Why did I feel the need to defend Jayden all of a sudden?

"I don't know, he's just... acting this strange way..." He said, pondering.

"Well, I think it's nothing..." I pecked his lips to, boldly saying, shut him up.

"Mmm, baby girl..." He moaned during the kiss. "Do you think Elena is a bit more childish and over-hyped at the age of six?"

I pulled away. "Elena? Why do you think so?"

"I just think so. Stop asking me why." He rolled his eyes. "She squeals like a toddler and also acts like one." He shrugged. "I'm just saying, though. Don't judge me. It's my opinion."

I completely pulled away from Christian. "What do you mean it's your opinion? Elena is a six years old toddler. She's not fucking eighteen. It's her age to be childish. Mind your own fucking business."

"Woah, whoa. Baby girl, calm the fuck down. I just shared my opinion. You don't have to be such a bitch about it." He blurted out.

"Bitch? I'll tell you how to be a bitch about something!" I took off the clip from my hair. "Get the fuck out of my apartment right now."

He rolled his eyes. "Replaying it again? Babe, come on. I just stated my opinion and it doesn't matter, right? What matters is you and me, right now."

"Stop your mindless cheesiness right now, Chris. Just get out." I retorted.

"You can't just kick me out only because I spoke my mind? What are you, living in the '90s? Please! Get over it." He yelled. "We could have a normal night right now but you just had to react badly to a teensy little statement?"

I took long breaths to calm myself but it seemed impossible. All I could see was red and I was dying to say those words which could potentially ruin my and Chris' relationship.

What the hell, you only live once. Go for it.

"That's it." I clapped finally. "I'm done with your bullshit. Done with you."

He blinked. "Are- are you breaking up?"

"Fucking yes, I'm breaking up!" I shouted. "It's over! Now get out!"

Christian mumbled something and walked right off the door.

I sighed audibly and sat down on the couch. I've been meaning to do it since forever.

Then I looked down at the rhinestone clip which seemed disgusting to me at one time.

"Thank you, for once," I spoke lowly.

And then, I let a small smile tug on my lips.

It was because of the clip that made me do it. I was tired of being nice to such a pain in the ass. And I was glad I did it because it had to be done anyways. It's been said that when you get in a relationship with a person, you tend to get close with them and start to think about having forever with them. I never felt close to him and it's been a month. And I don't feel sad either, because now that I don't have to see him every day and hear him call me baby girl, I'm best.

I got up to feed my cats and set up their food, milk, and water on the floor by my kitchen counter. Then I walked to my door to open it after I heard the several gentle knocks.

"Hey, there." Jayden was smirking.

"Hi." I just nodded and let him walk in.

Just as he walked in, he turned to me and said, "I heard yelling. What was it about?"

I just shrugged and walked over to the couch and sat on it while turning on the TV.

Jayden made a tsk sound and sighed afterward. "Not in the mood to talk?" He asked.

"Not really." I hoarsely replied, looking at him in the eyes. "I'd rather go to bed."

He opened his mouth to speak but I got up and walked into the bedroom, not letting him talk. I heard him coming after me and entering my bedroom meanwhile I was setting myself in the bed.

"Join or leave, Jayden." I coldly said.

He just stared back into my eyes, probably weighing his answers.

"With you in bed, I'd rather join." He grinned and walked over to the bed to lay down.

With a sigh, he laid beside me, not even touching me in any way and I liked that. I was not in the mood of a company.

For several minutes, we stayed silent and calm, just thinking about our own day and having our own thoughts.

"How-" Jayden cleared his throat. "How was your day with Chris?"

He was scared that I'll blow up at him after hearing Chris' name. But honestly, I felt nothing. I didn't feel like I had lost something. Nada.

"It was okay. Somewhat." I replied.

We were still looking up at the ceiling because I hadn't felt his eyes on me.

"I... Uh, I'm glad you liked it." He tried to sound sincere but I begged to differ.

I turned my face to him, staring at his cheek. "I didn't like it, not even one bit." I grit my teeth. "He's so insensitive, do you know that?"

He turned his whole body towards mine and looked into my eyes.

"That's a bit... It's strange, coming out of your mouth, Hazel." He replied.

Even though I knew that I of all people shouldn't say that, but I kind of felt a bit angry at Jayden to accuse me of it. He was not even accusing me, he was telling me my major flaw.

But why did I hate it?
