Short Story #2

- Age Eighteen. Two weeks after Eren left-

Mari was sitting in the Mess Hall and she got a letter handed to her by Mike and she looked curiously when she saw it was the hospital at the inner wall.

She had been staying close to Armin a lot since Eren had left. Since, her condition had made it so she didn't know what would happen, and think that people were to leave. And her attachment anxiety made her afraid that it would actually happen. And Eren leaving, didn't help in the slightest.

So, she may or may not have seemed clingy to him recently.

The letter was one that mentioned that her father needed a liver transplant. And that neither of her half siblings on his side, were a match.

And, they thought that they could run some tests to see if she could.

Upon reading it, she sat there shocked for a moment, and she put the letter down.

Connie noticed that look, it was the one of that something was going on and she didn't want to talk about it. Plus, she had suddenly gotten uncharacteristically quiet. So, that was another indication. "You okay? What's on the letter?" He asked as he looked as she now had her elbow on the table as she thought about it.

"My dad has liver failure, he needs a transplant." She said as she blinked slowly.

Armin looked over when he heard that. "And they wrote to you? Don't you have a brother and sister on your dad's side?"

"Yes, but for some reason neither of them have his blood. So, they wrote to me to see if i'd be willing to take some tests, to see if I can give him half of my liver."

Connie blinked at that and he looked at what he was eating and he was suddenly full. "So, what are you gonna do?" He asked as he looked at the kid sister.

Mari looked at him. "I don't know. On one hand, he took away my childhood, and broke my mother's heart."

Reiner overheard and he looked at her. "And on the other hand?"

"I don't know. He's not my dad. He's just some guy who screwed over my mom." Mari said and she had some resentment in her voice.

Armin looked over at his girl and he turned around and held her hands. She may have been clingy, but he knew it wasn't her fault. "Marinette, this is your father. Not a lot of us here still have our father alive. I know, that he wasn't there for you. But as much as he was a crap father to you, he has two other children that love him." He told her as he looked into her eyes holding her hands, and gently rubbing his thumbs against her knuckles.

"You, are a person of compassion, and sacrifice, and of love. Since the day I met you, I knew you were someone special. Mari, your giving as much as you are crazy. I'm not forcing you into anything, but at least consider it, yeah?"

At this point Mari had been looking right into his eyes, as she listened and she nodded her head. "Yeah, i'll think about it."

- Later -

Mari, after a long time of deciding, she decided she would at least try. So, her stepdad Erwin had given her permission to go to the inner wall into the hospital her dad was in.

So, she was in there and Armin had gone with her incase she needed help getting back home.

She was in the room, and the results came back positive that she had the same blood type as her dad. She got up and she paced in the hallway, before she went and she saw her dad.

"You, poured my cereal."

Seth looked at Mari then he blinked. "What?"
He asked confused.

"Thats all I remember about you, you used to pour my cereal. You weren't there. And if you died, it probably wouldn't effect my life at all. But, if you die, then you break them. You may not mean anything to me in my life, but you mean the world to them. So, i'll do it." Mari told her dad and Armin told her that the liver was able to regenerate itself. She wouldn't be able to train till forever, but she would survive.

"And, if you want a chance to be a part of my life, and talk, then the door is open."
