Just a little different...
And you shall soon see why...
Percy POV:
I was surprised how I was sleeping so well.
I glanced up at my alarm clock, and found that it was 9 in the morning. I was two hours late for school!
I swore under my breath, and raced to put my clothes on. I'm pretty sure that no one wanted to see me in my pajamas. That had Nemo on them. I didn't even own a pair of Nemo pajamas!
For some reason, I could only find blue shirts, and all of them felt two sizes too small. Luckily, I had a black sweater to put on. As soon as I had pulled it over my head though, I heard a crack. Not like an object falling, or a bone snapping, but a thrum, something that rattled my bones. Riptide sat in my clenched fist. I didn't even remember taking it out.
Moving slowly, I crept down the hall. Every muscle in my body was tensed, and I was ready to fight. Nothing came, until I stepped into the kitchen. A supermodel woman was bustling around, placing multiple blue dishes on our sagging (and blue) kitchen table.
"Um, miss? Am I in the wrong house or something?" I voiced, startling her a bit. She turned, and I could see heaps of makeup piled on her face. She struck a pose, then moved over towards me.
"Percy, honey, is that any way to greet your mother?" She crooned, donning puppy dog eyes. I stared in shock. My mom hated puppy dog eyes, said that they made spoiled kids even more spoiled.
"No offense mom, but I think you look better without the makeup. And why did you make all this food? I'm late, and am probably just going to grab a pop-tart to go." I said, slowly backing away to the door. But another rattling crack rang through the air. When I regained my balance, I saw that my mom was back to normal. All of the food was gone, replaced by a silver pop-tart package. My mom stood there for a moment, startled, then moved in what seemed like a whirlwind.
"Percy! You're late! So grab that pop-tart and go go go!" She rushed. Next thing I know, I'm being pushed out of the door, and my mom and I are racing down the stairs. When we get to the apartment complex's parking lot though, there's only a sea green Ferrari there, covered with wave patterned with seashells. Paul's car is nowhere in sight. But that makes no sense, today he doesn't work!
A boom echoed through the sky, and Paul's car was back where it belonged, along with all the other cars.
Soon, my mother was tearing up the streets, rushing to get me to school. But while I pointed out open lanes, back streets, and shortcuts, I noticed the sky. It was still blue, but there was a large crack in it, almost like glass. I sighed, and continued what I was doing. Whatever was up with the sky was not my problem, I'd just leave it to another unlucky demigod to fix.
We quickly got to the school's parking lot, and with a quick kiss goodbye, I was bounding up the steps. I had scarcely stepped inside though when all the students appeared out of nowhere. Literally. One moment the school was empty, and the next it was chock full of students. I shook my head in disbelief, and went to find my locker. Sure enough, it was as crazy as everything else today. It was an electric blue, and the locker next to it was hot pink. But what was even stranger was how it was surrounded by jocks. They used to bully people, but after I had stood up to them, they had backed off. For the most part, they just avoided me. So imagine my shock when they start patting me on the back, and treating me like buddy-ol'-pal. I shrugged my shoulders inwards, squeezing in-between the bodies. When I reached my locker, I entered the com. It swung open to reveal chocolates, a bouquet of flowers, a card, and a bunch of other lovey-dovey junk, all labeled 'For Heart'. What the Hades!
I heard another crack, but this one sounded like a million clocks shattering. I jumped, and found that my locker was back to normal, with 'Heart's' stuff all gone. I wished the chocolates had stayed longer though. They looked expensive, and I wanted to give them to Annabeth. She would've eaten a few to be polite, then toss them in the trash later. I didn't mind, I knew that's how Annabeth is.
I also noticed that all the clocks had gone back to 6:45. I had 15 more minutes to finish my homework (Basilisk attack--don't ask).
Turning around, I started to walk down the hallway. The floor felt different somehow. I looked down to see a red carpet under my feet. I yelped, then tried to jump off. I didn't want to replace that thing. But when I jumped to the side, it moved back under my feet. Weird.
I looked forward and saw the end of the carpet. I raced to the edge, just for it to extend again. Great. I'm being stalked by a rug.
After I had realized this, I felt a tap on my shoulder. When I turned, a strange girl with pounds of makeup on faced me. Her hair was poofy and blond, and her dress was way shorter than the school dress code allowed.
"Helloooooooo Perry!" She cooed, twirling a strand of stringy and stiff hair around her finger. I stepped backwards and heard a metallic clang. I turned around to see my locker behind me. How did I get back here? I put that thought out of my mind, and started to back away to the front doors. She followed me. I wondered if she was an empousai, but that thought left when I realized that even they didn't look that hideous.
I heard a high pitched squeal behind me, and turned around to see Annabeth barreling towards me. I frowned. She had school today, and she wouldn't miss it for her life. She hugged me, then judo flipped the strange girl from before. "Stay away from Percy!" She whimpered.
"What is happening!" I cried, utterly and completely weirded out.
"You and me both buddy." I heard a voice say from the crowd, but before I could glimpse their face, they disappeared with a swish of their brown hair, leaving the smell of chocolate behind them.
I turned back to the Annabeth-imposter. She was flipping the girl all over. How did she have the strength for that? Usually one flip drains you of your torque and momentum, so you can't do multiple in a row.
I heard another crack, and an earthquake beneath my feet. The whole world shattered around me, like glass being hit by a hammer. A very, very big hammer.
When I regained my bearings, the creepy rug was gone, my locker turned back to its normal red shade, and Annabeth was standing in the hall, a bit dazed. She looked at me, the school, then the clock on the wall. "Holy Hera, it's a school day! I'm going to be late!" She yelped. With a quick peck on my cheek, she rushed outside, probably to call Mrs. O'Leary.
The strange girl was no longer there, and there was no trace of her ever existing. With a sigh, I walked to my next class, waiting for the shattering sound to come back. But it never did.
Bonus Material!
Heart POV:
I woke up in a black hall lit with torches. The brick was the shade of night, and the torches cast a golden glow everywhere. I shifted on the floor that I lay on, and shrieked when dirt of all things touched me! Disgusting!
I stood up quickly, brushing myself of carefully. I couldn't chip a nail now, could I? I started walking down the hall, looking for a person, hopefully a male. And attractive.
Eventually, I saw someone re-lighting a torch. They shuffled down the hall, and pulled a torch off its brazier. But it didn't come off, it swung down. A door in the wall opened, and they darted through. I decided that I would keep walking, but I was scared of being alone, so I followed him instead.
When I grabbed the torch, I almost aborted the mission, because it was so grimy. My pores were clogging!
Wincing, I quickly released it. The doorway opened, and I rushed inside. It was another long hallway, but the bricks seemed to be decorated with the stars. I then knew that I was the brightest thing in the hall!
(Gag)
Who said that! Ah well, it's probably not important. I eventually found myself at a heavy looking wood door, which I pried open. I can't believe that it broke my nail! I stormed inside the room, ready to slap whoever made that door.
I saw with the mysterious boy from before, and he was HOT. With curly brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin, he was the definition of perfect! Well, except for the fact that he wasn't muscular. At all. He was talking to someone I couldn't see. They were standing against a midnight blue wall, face and body swathed in shadow. "But why will I be aware? I mean, I appreciate it and all, but isn't there someone else you could choose?" He asked, raising his hands.
"Yes, in fact I could choose anybody else. But this cliche thing is almost taking a life of its own, and I need an insider. One who can break through the cliche without my interference. Are you up to this task?" The shadowy figure asked. Their voice was smooth, cool, and collected. Confidence radiated from their tone.
"Can I break the fourth wall?" Hottie asked.
The figure came out of the shadow, and I realized why it had been near impossible to see them before. A dark cloak swirled around their form. Literally. It was swaying in invisible currents, tickling the ground by their feet. "Of course." The figure spoke. "By breaking as much cliche as possible, I may not have to intervene. Those stupid OC's are getting out of hand. Speaking of which..." The figure faced me, and I saw the dim outline of a smile from underneath her hood.
That smile was the last thing I ever saw.
Sorry for the late update guys!
