The White Madness (6/10) - r
If the mad scientist stayed for the spectacle, he could see how Silver put up a protective barrier from thin air. His psychic powers were versatile like nothing else, allowing him to attack and defend himself at the same time. He pushed a monstrous trio away and glanced Amy was staring.
"Snap out of it, rookie!" he yelled into her ear, hardly reaching her scream-level. "Kill them, before they kill you, that's all!" He growled to himself when she didn't move to do anything. He turned away, enclosing two monsters with his power and crashed them to a pulp.
Amy wasn't listening to him. Not even his shout reached her. She wasn't aware of her familiar protecting her. Her whole attention was on a monster in front of her. The chest was swollen with two big blisters. The big head was tilted to a side thanks to a big horn growing from it. There was another face on its stomach, and it seemed there were small hands trying to rip through the skin to escape outside. The second's face mouth was gasping like a fish on the ground.
Amy's eyes were pulsating with light. It was a signal she was using her soul reading power to her maximum. She could see the souls' shapes, colors and even feel the emotions they were wrapped with. She bit her lip as the scene before her eyes was too much for her to handle. 'Two souls... This one has two souls inside!' her brain shouted at her.
Silver meanwhile realized using his psionic weapons had mixed effect on them. He tried to cut them with his sword, and while he was able to cut their limbs, their torsos were somehow gummy, deflecting his weapons. It was like their bodies were covered with body-fat armor. He dispersed his weapon, switching to his main mean of attack – crushing them with his raw psychic power.
His amber eyes checked on Eclipse. Even the small demon was having his share of troubles. Their water-like bodies were hard to grasp with hands, and his claws had to dig deep to cut through the sticky layer. The demon figured out holding their horns was one way how to partly immobilize them before he could finish them.
That part was his less favorite one. To kill them he needed to cut their bodies open and crush the heart, as even headless monster continued to approach him. It was creeping him out. Not to mention the insides and flesh stunk of decay. He was so unfortunate to taste the blood, and he almost vomited. He never savored something so disgusting.
Even in his demonic form, but with his wings hidden as they would only get in a way, he was having a harder time to cut their flesh. It made him wonder how those two that melted could die so easily when the rest was a tough nut to crack. Not to mention he had to take care of Amy as she was standing, oblivious to the enemies.
His body jerked for a moment as a strange sensation filled his mind. His torso pivoted toward Amy and blood-lust appeared in his eyes. However, it was soon gone as one monster with big mace-like hands hit him with full power, sending him across the arena. Eclipse rolled until he hit the wall. The closest monsters went after him. 'What was that?' He shook his head, trying to clear it. He winked, focusing on the black masses in front of him.
For a short moment, he thought he had heard a voice telling him to go wild. To kill everybody. To set his thirst for vengeance free. Something like this never happened to him. It scared him. The scariest thing on this was his body almost moved on its own, and his first target was supposed to be Amy.
The monsters gathered around him, slashing him with their whip-like limbs equipped with claws, horns and who knows with what else. He quickly climbed the wall, pushing thinking for a later time. He leaped forward, landing with feet on the monster with long neck's face. The push tilted it backward, and its body hit the floor. Before it could respond, he cut its neck and jumped away as another monster with axe-like appending sunk into the longneck. The dark colored blood gushed out, and the laying monster was trampled over, its neck was swinging, watering the ground even more. Eclipse hated fighting with them. They were as far from living being as they could be.
Silver snorted as he felt he was doing all the job since Amy was motionless, and Eclipse in his eyes looked like a clown. "Eclipse!" he snapped and pushed the monster Eclipse was fighting with away, throwing it on a small group. The small demon quickly hurried to his side. "Go after that wacko!" Silver ordered, frowning. In his head, he was having ten possible versions of his report about their incompetence in full details. "And," his voice darkened, "don't you dare to lose him!"
The small demon shivered as Silver's amber eyes were suddenly crueler then usually. He quickly nodded, dashing to the cliff. Silver made sure to stop all the monster in his way. He didn't want to admit it, but the psychic wasn't good when fighting against a group.
His power might allow him to target multiple enemies, but that meant dividing his brain power among them, thus weakening the impact it had. So far he was able to deal with up to four enemies at once. However, in the case of this monsters, two was his limit. It was just another thing on his long This-irritates-me list. He hated looking weak.
Silver created a psionic arm, catching one bulky monster. It started to squirm in his grasp, but he quickly smashed it into a bloody pulp. He also noticed he needed to destroy the heart to kill them permanently. However, it wasn't easy as no monster had the heart in the same place as other living beings. He turned away from the mess, throwing psionic sword toward the blob monster that threatened to swallow Amy with its enormous mouth. The blade sank into its broad face, forcing it to move back.
A roar from behind alerted Silver about incoming attack. He pivoted his body, putting up his shield but instead of a big monster, there was a flying head aiming at his neck. He bitterly realized it was the head of the previous monster, and its beating heart was dangling down from the rest of the neck. He hissed, quickly flying backward away from it. With a wide swing of his psionic sword, he cut the heart in half.
That resulted in pinata-effect as the head exploded. Silver was used to some disgusting stuff, but this was seriously getting on his nerves. With his back he hit something. He quickly turned around, noticing it was Amy. He let his frustration ring in his voice, "Get out of my way if you can't fight!"
The impact didn't make Amy budge a bit. However, it made her more aware of her surrounding. Her eyes slightly widened as the figure in front of her was still standing, opening its mouth like a fish. The empty eyes were staring at her, talking to her. There was no voice entering her ears, but she could tell what the message was about. It was begging. No, they were begging. The mother with her unborn child was begging.
Silver was ready to bark something more when his body froze. A cold wave washed over him, and a round object flew through the air. It dug itself into the two-faced body, smashing the heart. A twisted smile appeared on its faces before it collapsed on the floor.
The psychic watched as the ball returned. It was connected with a thin but strong chain to the handle Amy was holding. Silver smirked a bit. He had read about this in her profile. Her mace weapon was customized to be useful in all types of armed combat, allowing her to deal with even far away enemies.
"Lucky shot," he commented her hit, and he would believe it if she didn't strike three more monsters and each time didn't hit the heart. To make it worse one of the monsters was about to attack him, thus it seemed he was saved by Amy. "Now I see," he murmured when he looked into her shining eyes.
Amy's spiritual energy was swirling inside of her. She could see their souls, and that allowed her to pinpoint the locations of their hearts. Silver with a whip slashed a group of monsters, pushing them back. "Are you ready?" he asked her, morphing his whip into six swords.
"Ten, head!" she barked, and one sword dug into monster's head, dragging out the hidden heart. The body collapsed. "Eleven, right knee!" Another monster met the same fate. "Twelve, belly! One, tail!" she snapped two targets, and Silver's swords quickly killed them. "Two, left shoulder!" she shouted, and her mace-whip whistled through the air, crushing it into a bloody mess.
A cold shiver ran down Silver's back. That hit was very precious, and the speed was on par with his own. He, again, wasn't sure what to think about her. At one moment she was a little naive girl and in another deadly opponent. Like this, they finished the rest of the monsters. Silver didn't bother to count them as it was useless now since many of them ended up in a bloody mess during sick experiments.
From his inner pocket, he took out a small bottle and filled it with some gooey substance. He hoped this would tell them how the transformation was done. He tightly closed the lid, not wanting to have it all over his clothes. It was enough he got dirty during the fight.
The rotten smell made him feel a bit nostalgic. He finished his first big mission when he was twelve. At that time, he fought with some animal-demon with a mostly black body. It was wild, and it killed almost a dozen people. Since he was still inexperienced, he suffered bigger injuries, but he won in the end by crushing its head. He shook his head, now wasn't the time to remember old days.
He glanced at Amy, noticing she was getting weak in her knees. He wasn't the man of open emotions, he preferred to keep them hidden and well behaving. However, he was willing to provide her with some support for her performance. He came a bit closer, ready to let her lean against him when a loud shriek echoed through space.
Amy's eyes widen as she loudly barked, "Eclipse!"
