The White Madness (3/10) - r
They were slowly going forward, and Eclipse felt like puking. The stench of blood was soaked into the rough walls. He would swear he could still hear screams of the victims experiencing painful and slow death. His body shivered, realizing he did the same things to many people, and for a strange reason he felt disgusted by himself.
Amy was also feeling unsettled the heavy atmosphere was squeezing her, yelling at her to surrender. However, there was no way she would give up, but it was still making her depressed. She looked at the crystals emitting dim light. She saw similar crystals on the Angel Island and looking at them made her relaxed, nevertheless, these were making her heavy-hearted. She hugged her arms, tightly clenching them, but it wasn't because of the creeping coldness of this place.
Silver's ears pricked as he heard her sigh. There was no way he would overlook their reactions, despite walking behind them. Their bodies' postures were enough to read their minds and moods. The psychic surprised himself when no sassy remarks filled his mind. He knew too well how it felt to walk through an area filled with negative emotions.
He cocked his head as Eclipse stopped in front of a crossroad. There were three paths with rough walls running in front of them. Silver gestured them to wait, and he walked along the entrances. Each looked the same with crystals providing the only light. He squinted his eyes, trying to pierce through the darkness at the end of passages, but he couldn't see a thing despite having perfect eyesight.
"Let's go this way." He gestured toward the left path. "Don't be too close to each other, we haven't encountered any traps which means this place must have some other means how to keep anything inside," he warned them, and his teammates nodded. In this rare moment, he was genuinely taking care of them. Not finishing the mission with them alive would mean a stain on his reputation, after all.
Eclipse was again first, walking on all fours with Amy three steps behind him. The psychic seemed to walk in a relaxed manner with hands in his coat pockets, but in reality, he was slowly transporting his energy inside of his circles using the pockets as cover.
After silent minutes they reached a better lit area with many rooms connected to the corridor. Silver instructed them to search them. Eclipse dashed forward, peeking into the first room. Amy followed his example, but she went to search the rooms on the other side of the corridor.
Silver knitted his eyebrows. The way the small demon moved on all four was ticking him off. Then again, he would be complaining about Eclipse trying to imitate proper walking. In other words, he was a tough person to please. He decided to keep an eye on the small demon, given how Amy was lenient with any type of supervision.
He entered the room Eclipse decided to inspect closer. His trained amber eyes needed only a few seconds to see what was in the room. The gray walls were surprisingly smooth compared to the ones in the long corridor. The floor had similar color, but it was darker because of the thick layer of dust and dirt.
In the middle was an operational table. Eclipse slightly sniffed around it before moving to an opposite wall to inspect another dark spot. Silver's attention shifted from him to a cabinet full of bottles, so he came closer.
He leaned forward, squinting. Most of the bottles had similar size, but some were larger, holding something inside. He merely cringed his nose. The biggest bottles were full of liquid and organs, body parts, or small animals were floating inside.
The layer of the dust on the glass indicated that nobody touched it for at least a month. Silver wasn't eager to be the first one it would just dirty his gloves. He instinctively put his hands behind his back to keep them farther from the dirt.
He didn't need to inspect it that closely, that would be a job for another group of field experts to secure samples. His amber eyes merely glanced over the bottles full of pills, powders, and dimly colored liquids.
He turned around, glimpsing some basic tools for performing surgery on the table and a small cabinet on wheels next to it. The number of dark stains on it was more than enough to tell him what happened here. He looked over his shoulder since his ears picked up a strange noise.
Eclipse was still in the same room as him on all fours. At first, it seemed he was closely sniffing around one big stain on the floor, but Silver quickly noticed a forked tongue was licking the dry blood. Not even the thick layer of the dust dissuaded him.
The psychic snickered in his mind. He came closer, squatting, and he silently said, "Oh, are you that hungry you can't hold yourself?" The disdain in his voice was dripping on the floor.
Eclipse's body had frozen in the middle of a movement with his tongue glued to the wet floor. The demon's eyes widened staring down. Silver was having such good time he was willing to get his gloves dirty. With his index finger, he touched the licked floor and started to make circles into it.
The psychic continued talking, "But isn't it shame? Why licking this old blood?" He silently chuckled, but for Eclipse it sounded like thunder as the voice continued, "Wouldn't the fresh one be better?"
Silver was pleased since Eclipse's tongue was retracted back, and a loud gulp sounded from his throat. He evilly smirked, adding, "The one that's still running through veins, throbbing with life." The psychic wanted to burst in laughing because small tears appeared in Eclipse's eyes.
However, he wasn't the one to lose control so easily, and that was enabling him to savor such moment to the fullest. His mental torture wasn't finished yet since he resumed his speech, "Isn't it wonderful to sink your teeth into the throat? Sucking the blood while your prey scream and struggle. Feeling its life is entering your body, filling you with unspoken ecstasy."
A broad and sadistic smiled appeared on Silver's face. Eclipse's reaction was satisfying his ego. He just started to drool, and his breathing got faster. He could hear his loud heartbeat picking up speed.
The psychic wanted to savor more of this. However, his mission couldn't be put on hold, so he asked the last question, "Wouldn't that be so much better?" He moved the dirty finger toward Eclipse's neck, tracing down from his jaw to his throat. He felt the small body shivered, and once he halted at the neck, it stopped moving. It froze from the sheer fear. Silver giggled, stood up and left Eclipse, catching a sound of loud gasp.
The psychic outside checked his dirty glove, and while it was irritating, he was pleased the price for this speck was satisfactory. He looked at Amy that was coming closer.
"Have you found anything? All the rooms on my side looked the same," Amy asked. She had no idea Silver just finished torturing her familiar. She resumed her report, "It seems all of them were used to perform some experiments."
Silver glanced at her. He could tell she was sick from her stomach, but she wasn't letting it get her. It was a proof she had a foundation for stronger character, but her naivety was ruining it for him. He nodded, replying, "The ones on this side are mostly the same too. We can conclude this place was inhabited by a number of scientists carrying out some forbidden tests." He could easily visualize what type of experiments those were, but he decided not to go into details. He turned away. "Let's go back to inspect another path," he informed her over his shoulder.
When he was walking by Eclipse, who just left the room, he smirked. The small demon shivered, giving him once more a satisfactory reaction.
Amy easily noticed the demon's uneasiness, so she came closer, asking, "Eclipse, are you alright?"
He nodded, adding, "Let's go." He followed Silver two steps in front of Amy, as he didn't want to talk to her, or for her to see his face. In his mind he cursed himself. How could he let his guard down so easily? All he wanted was to inspect all the dark spots. He wished to find something big to impress Silver.
He was feeling he is suspecting him, and this was a perfect way to get on his good side. It's true this place was making him uneasy, but he still managed to keep his instinct in check. So when Silver spoke at him, he was shocked to find himself licking that old blood. He had no memory of starting it.
On top of it, his words hit Eclipse where it hurt him the most. Yes, he was missing the smell and taste of fresh blood. There were many nights when he was dreaming about it. Most demons would be irritated after waking up, but he was terrified. Those dreams seemed so real he had problems to distinguish dreams from reality.
The old memories of his previous life as free demon filled his mind. The sound of cracking bones mixed with terrified screams was a perfect melody for his meals. Each was composed of delicious raw meat and drinks were exclusively pure blood juice.
He strongly gnawed his lip and pressed the temple. 'I'm a spy! Get out! Get out!' he shouted at himself while reaching the junction.
Amy worriedly watched him. There was something off, and she didn't need her ability to see it. She quickened her steps, getting next to him. She looked into his frowning face and said, "Eclipse, are you perhaps..."
The small demon's body tensed up, and he felt an urge to bite through her throat to silence her. What was happening to him?
