The Immortal Past (3/10) - r

Glitch opened his mouth to speak more, but his chest was cut by a shining sword. He stepped back as a glint of fear sparkled in his eyes for a moment.

The agent growled, grasping the sword in his hand. "Shut up!" he barked, leaping forward.

Another swing forced Glitch to back down, but he wasn't scared. Right now his mind was clear. The real fight could begin. He jabbed with his right arm, but Silver stepped aside and burrowed his fist in Glitch's cheek.

The other hedgehog flew a few paces, bouncing off his head. A whimper escaped him, but a few scratches couldn't stop him. His body was ravaged by deeper scars than Silver could now create. He landed on all fours and leaped to the side, dodging another slash.

Silver was now sure cutting a limb or two for R&D departure was a good idea. So what if it would make him feel better? That was nobody's business. The echo of children voices resonated in his head, turning his mind into a cold place.

Glitch crossed his arms in defense as the sword once more cut across his chest. The chains around his gloves were ripped into pieces, and Silver didn't stop until fresh blood didn't drip down. The gloves were in pieces too, the leftovers hanging down.

However, something was wrong with them. The agent knew it, but before he could react, his sword was grabbed by Glitch's left hand and turned into nothingness.

A wave of dumbfoundedness washed over Silver's genial brain, taking away a part of the coldness. Glitch's right hand was placed on Silver's chest. His body tensed as he clutched his teeth. His chest was shot by a shock wave from the point-blank distance.

His body flew, meeting the stone wall once more. The hole swallowed his body, crushing it from behind. The pain spreading through his body put everything before to shame. It numbed him, shook with his brain he almost lost consciousness, and left him defenseless.

Glitch slowly approached him, his alien arms clenched in fists. Big scars were carved into his flesh near the elbow on the right one and on the shoulder on the other arm. They were dark with red thin lines across them. There was no way they could belong to the hedgehog.

"You know, that story hasn't ended... yet," Glitch coldly added. "That boy once created a tornado, ripping many kids into rag dolls. Do you know what happened to them?"

He was now so close he whispered the words into Silver's ear.

"They all ended up as cripples forever chained to wheelchairs." He moved a bit away. "But that wasn't all. You needed more!" he barked. "You needed blood!" With the last word, he buried his fist next to Silver's face.

"Do you remember?" His eyes could send shivers.

Speaking of blood, Silver felt quite a lot in his mouth. It was leaving a sour taste with the memories resurfacing. He was once more a child, lost in the village he hated and couldn't escape from.

Stones and branches rained at him. Cruel words pierced his heart.

"Your mom hated you!"

"She abandoned you!"

"Nobody cares for you!"

He hugged his thin chest, tears flew down his cheek. He searched for years by now. He called his mother every night and day he could get away from the adults. They had to resort to chain his legs to keep him from running, yet he didn't stop trying.

A big stone landed on his forehead, piercing the skin. A thin stream of blood flew along his muzzle. A boy about his age smirked in front of him. He was the one Silver hated the most. Whenever they bullied him, he was there leading the others.

His eyes were mocking Silver, playing with a stone in his hand. There was no doubt who the target was.

"Your mom was a witch!" he shouted and threw the stone.

Silver stepped aside, but it still grazed him.

"Nobody wants you!" he continued. "I bet your mom was a street woman anyway, having you with some thug!"

"Shut up!" Silver yelled back, feeling a pang in his head.

"Then where are they?"

The mockery refused to stop.

"They left you to rot!"

Silver grabbed his head.

The pain refused to subdue.

"You are just bastard's kid!"

He flopped his ears in a futile attempt to block all the voices.

"Your mom tossed you away to be free from you!" the boy spat with hatred.

Silver roared, unable to keep the pain from overtaking his brain. The circles on his hands shone alongside all kids around him.

Their confused creams were lost in the whirlwind that followed, tossing them away from him. The loud yells full of pain followed soon enough. No child was left untouched.

The boy who led them fell on the ground. His mind was hazy, he wasn't sure if he was in pain or not. He couldn't move. His eyes stared at the village with Silver behind him. His roar turned into growl accompanied by a girl's voice.

A small figure was closing them with a basket in her hand. The boy had a hard time realizing who it was.

'Sis?' he asked himself unsure of his words.

Her face was soaked with tears, the flowers from her basket were falling out as she widely swung with it with each stride.

A shadow fell over the boy and his body froze. He gasped for air, but no word left his throat. His eyes widened as his little sister was mercilessly slammed against the tree, blood gushing from her tiny frame.

As if at that moment the pain in the boy's body awoke, he screamed and screamed, breaking his voice after long seconds. What followed was full of fog and nightmares. The boy had no idea what was real or not. All his limbs ended up shattered and his little sister died after a few months.

And Silver? He was taken away from the village, but no peace returned. Everybody was devastated.

"Time to face your judge-" Glitch bit his tongue as big stone fell on his head.

Before he could growl at Silver, his face met the psychic's fist. Glitch stumbled backward surprised by the sheer power behind it. He didn't expect from a psychic to have a physical strength too. The mistake he didn't intend to repeat.

A whip slashed him over the face. Silver was done with games. No more trying to bring him in a living piece. The thoughts of ripping the body and tasting the warm blood filled Silver's mind. It seemed so neat. Something he needed right now to satisfy his anger.

Silver threw three lances at Glitch, but those were sucked by his left arm and after that, a shock wave was shot from his right arm. Glitch smirked as the wave got closer, but the psychic grabbed his sword with both hands and cut right through the attack.

The wave missed the psychic, only landing around him. The gray hedgehog bared his teeth as a stream of blood gushed from his chest where Silver's blow landed, cutting through the distance.

"How?" he uttered, holding his wound.

"Even a monkey would figure out your attack pattern," Silver snorted with disdain. "Your left arm absorbs the energy from attacks or nature while the right one releases it like a shock wave." He looked down, a breeze slightly moved with his quills. "Give up!"

"Never!" Glitch barked, attacking with his fist.

The psychic moved forward to counter him when his enemy's body moved absurdly fast forward. He slammed into the psychic and pushed him back into the stone wall. Waves of pain engulfed Silver, and his amber eyes darted down to the source of roaring noise.

Glitch's legs transformed into a strange shape. They now looked like stumps with green energy bursting from their hollow core. Glitch pressed his feet on silver's chest and another burst buried Silver deeper while it carried the young man away.

Glitch's body ended up in rolls, but he didn't care. He was sure Silver suffered under his attacks and would finally break. Glitch twitched and barfed blood on the grass. Something green was mixed in it.

'D-Dang!' He forced his body to stand. His limbs started to overheat. There was only as much energy output they could withstand. 'Be down!' he prayed in his mind when a single lance darted towards him.

He dived down, bruising his body. If his body wouldn't be burning and his vision blurry, it would be nothing.

"So you have tricks in your trousers too, huh?" asked a bit bored Silver.

He stood in the hole, between his hands was a buzzing ball. He couldn't move. His legs were shaking. The stone wall was the best support he could get now.

One hit.

He needed one hit.

This game was dragged for too long. Partly it was his fault for not going for a quick kill from the beginning. Right now, it seemed he had the best chance.

Only one hit.

Glitch rolled away as the lance returned. Silver controlled it with his mind without the support of his hands. Unfortunately, he never managed to direct more of them no matter how much he tried. Now, it was all he needed.

From Glitch's moves, he figured out the limbs weren't in perfect synchronization with his body. He doubted there wasn't any backslash or border he couldn't cross without sustaining severe damage.

'Dang!' Glitch cursed as the lance deeply scratched his left hand. He tried to absorb it, but his body only heated up. Dots flashed in front of his eyes. He had to get away or he would collapse.

'I'm so close!' Tears appeared in his eyes, a few slowly slid down his muzzle. 'The revenge for all of us...'

The lance stabbed through his left palm. He yelled, falling on his knee. His red eyes darted toward Silver. The ball seemed to be bigger. It shook and chirped like a thousand birds.

It couldn't be anything good. He jerkishly got up.

"Take this!" Silver shouted and fired the sphere.

All hair on Glitch's body bristled. He absorbed the lance against the screams of his body and shot a shock wave. The two energies met, and the black hole opened before it reached Glitch.

He dug his bleeding legs into the ground, but he was still slipping towards the black space.

'I can't-' He bit his lip, pushing back with all of his strength.

His knee went suddenly weak. He fell forward, and his right arm was swallowed by the black hole. Burning pain shot through his whole body, and he roared. All muscles in his body tensed and worked as one.

The huge blast erupted from his legs, ripping them in the process. However, it shot him toward the sky, away from the sucking hole that exploded. Another massive shock wave hit them both.

When the wind calmed down, Silver coughed blood.

"Damn..." he silently cursed. He hoped to get him here, but now he needed to find him. He unstuck his body, leaving the bloody jacket behind. His back hurt like hell, but it was nothing compared to the headache that invited itself.

His vision got blurry, as he staggered forward. Thankfully, the psychic noticed which way Glitch headed, so he was sure finding him wouldn't take for too long.
