The information here would only recap everything known so far from Crescent 1-16, plus prologue:-)

So in shaa Allah, this can also serve as a reference for the first 16 Crescents (NB: Some of them are multiplied.)

CHARACTERS

1. Hira

From prologue, so far nothing is known about her since she hasn't appeared yet in later chapters.

Appearance: A preteenager. Arkaan likens her to a fairy in her saffron robe, an exalted celestial, and later thinks she'd look like one of the eternal children of Paradise. This gives us an impression that she's at least very pretty.

Personality: Inquisitive, and a lover for spiritual knowledge and enlightenment. This is seen by her questioning Arkaan,"Why were voices created?", and then even having her own thoughts about the question.

2.Arkaan(MC of the story)
Age: 16/17, eight years ago he was 9 when he met Al Iskandarī.

Appearance: Arkaan is portrayed as a very handsome boy with green eyes like emerald stones. He has black hair and thick eyebrows.

Background: Hint exists that Arkaan is from a noble family. His father is a merchant and the elder son of a leading Patriarch in the Al Ilyâsin tribe. Having married a foreign woman, he's estranged from the tribe. The family falls into poverty, and the father leaves to better their lot only to never return. Even now, no one knows his fate.

Both mother and son were left in poverty, as the father didn't want his wife to work. His depressed mother left him with no choice but to fend for them both at a very young age.

Arkaan goes astray during this time. Fortunately, he meets a scholar who turns the path of his life to seek after Allah.

He's later kidnapped by his rich maternal grandfather from the West, who abandoned them when his daughter had married a Muslim.

Arkaan grows in an aristocratic society from that time till eight years later, he returns to Tâ Hâ, seeking his mother, and the scholar who transformed his life.

Personality: As a child, he was wild, and resigned to life's tragedies. He didn't care what happened next, probably had no goal except to have the next meal.

Meeting the scholar, he's revealed to be inquisitive, actually has a soft heart for Allah's words, and has keen eyes.

He is appreciative of the good people he meets and reserved on first meetings, but also can be vibrant, and when need be, even vicious with those who cross the line with him. He's defensive of his friends.
Although he has an inside dark personality sometimes, his meeting with Hilya and her diary are changing him.

Goals: To be one of As-Saabiqûnal Muqarrabun. Presently, find his mother, and to revive 'Inabah. Also, to be worthy enough for the girl he's liked since childhood.

Halaqah: South district Halaqah, 'Inabah.

3.Sheikh Inaayat Ibn Al Iskandarī
Age: 35 - 40yrs

Appearance: A scholarly man with long black hair that shines silver under the moon. Wears characteristic white thobe with a verdant kaftan. He seems to have a love for perfume, and keeps his dense beard neatly combed. All in all, he has a look of a saintly scholar amongst saints.

Personality: He seems to have a love for children, and disseminating knowledge. Enigmatic in his teaching of his pupils by guided participation. Possesses the lost science of Firâsah, which enables him to visualize the future path of his students.

Background: Little is known about his past before Tâ Hâ, except he travelled the land with Hilya and Zayn-al-Âbidīn. He reached Tâ Hâ with only Zayn though. From there, he forms a Circle of the Qur'an as per Hilya's dream to help the island city where scholars refrained from coming.

Arkaan realized a symbol of a tree and the Arabic numeral representing '113' on his apparel. A hint of sorrow appeared on his face when he reminiscences something about it. A similar design was found in Hilya's diary, a part of her torn cloth but with number '114' on it.

He's a mujtahid, mufassir, a Qaari and a hâfiz himself. The Mu'allim and Ustadh of South district's halaqah, 'Inabah. Rejected the position of Qâdí.

Disappears from Tâ Hâ after the event of Hâ Mîm towns.

Goals: To fulfil Hilya's dream, he formed the first halaqah, 'Inabah on the South district.

Halaqah: 'Inabah

4.Prince Ukashah Ibn Sulaymân(One of the five Quraa')
Age: 17yrs

Appearance: Brown hair and eyes. Said to have a princely aura with holiness to it. His beauty is described as jade-like probably due to his constant unemotional facial expression.

Background: He is seen to have come from another country with his horse Hayat, apparently being pursued by powerful forces. His life has almost been claimed twice, with Lady Frieda and Al Iskandarī offering him protection and solace. A flashback reveals him to be the second Prince of the Country of Sulaymân. His father was King Sulaymân, and mother was Queen Ashyaa. He has an elder brother by the name Ihtisham.

Personality: He rarely laughs, and appears moody sometimes. Taciturn, but can sometimes display other amusing and surprising qualities people wouldn't think him capable of.

Goals: To survive. After meeting Arkaan, he wishes to revive 'Inabah.

The Al Maghribi Family
A branch of the larger tribe, it comprises the eldest member, Bibi Fatima who is the grandmother of Hajj Ya'qûb and great-grandmother to the kids.

The father of the house who is also the councilman in charge of the South district is Hajj Ya'qûb. He has three wives, and children from all of them.

The first wife Zulaykha, has four boys; Ismail(25yrs), Ishaq(21yrs), Musa and Harun(twins, both 18yrs)

Second wife Nana Aisha, has four children; Fatima Az-Zahra(20yrs), Zakariyya(17yrs), Abdullah (10yrs), Khadijah(8yrs).

His last wife Maryam, a famed beauty of Indian descent with whom he has five children; Hayaa(19yrs), Maryam(17yrs), Aasiyah(10yrs), Isa(5yrs), and Abdur-Rahmân(1yr old)

5.Zakariyya Ibn Ya'qûb(One of the five Quraa')
Age: 17yrs

Appearance: Dark blonde with blue eyes. Beauty that borders on feminine, though has a fine masculine build. He's said to make even girls jealous of him.

Personality: Amiable guy who finds any good time to laugh. Due to his good-naturedness, he's friendly and a bit naive though clever. It's a wonder then that he has so few friends, perhaps only Ukashah for a long while. It's later revealed it's due to his mother being stern on his upbringing so he doesn't slacken amongst the five Quraa'.

Background: Son of Al Maghribi, one of the most esteemed affiliate tribes of Tâ Hâ. His father is Hajj Ya'qûb, and mother is Nana Aisha, a Caucasian Muslimah from whom he gets his foreign traits. His full siblings are Fatima Az-Zahra, Abdullah, and Khadijah. He has other half-siblings which include Maryam, with whom he's close.

Goals: Study as much Islamic knowledge as he can. This is seen right from childhood where he's already become a treasure trove of prophetic ahadith even by age eight!

Halaqah: 'Inabah of South district

Interest: Books. Zak is an avid reader like Alamghir, but he also had a forte in memorization. Alamghir commended him on it and said that, though his detective skills are par excellence, Zak has that uncanny ability that even surpasses his own.

6.Abdullah Bin Ya'qûb
Age: 10yrs

Appearance: handsome young boy with dark brown hair and eyes

Personality: Inquisitive, and reasoned like a grownup sometimes, not easily gullible, - according to his own father's assessment.

Background: Son of Hajj Ya'qûb and Nana Aisha. Full siblings; Fatima Az-Zahra, Zakariyya, and Khadijah. He's the first to meet Arkaan after waking up, and immediately takes a liking to him.

Goals: To revive South district halaqah

Halaqah: new member of 'Inabah

Interest: showing how much of a good little scholar he is..

7. Isa bin Ya'qûb:
Five year old boy or younger, and full sibling of Maryam. Arkaan first saw him dressed in white as he tried to sit on his lap and play with the Qur'an.

8. Khadijah bint Ya'qûb:
Full younger sister of Fatima, Zak, and Abdullah. She's pretty and delicate as a butterfly. She loves the Qur'an. Eight years old.

9. Aasiyah bint Ya'qûb:
Full sister of Maryam. She's same age as Abdullah, - 10yrs. She's knowledgeable as Abdullah, having gone to Qamariyyah madrasah. She looks up to her elder sister, viz - Maryam.

10. Ismail bin Ya'qûb:
Age: 25yrs

Appearance / personality: Has lush beard, shaven head, calm smile, and is smartly dressed, always. He's a charismatic fellow.

Background: Eldest brother of the house. Full brother of Ishaq, Musa, and Harûn. He's newly married to a daughter of Banu Ilyâsin tribe called Tasnîma. He lives in East district as a representative of the division. He's also in charge of a café there.

Went to a college in Yâ Sîn City.

Interest: He loves talking about marriage, according to the Al Maghribi brothers.

11/12. Musa and Harun bin Ya'qûb:
The only twins in the family. Both eighteen, they're preparing for their final exams for admission into college, particularly - College of King Dhul Qarnayn, where standards are high.

Musa has a tacit personality, but can be chilling at times, shown when he spoke some words to Eastern Waterfall halaqah guys.

Harûn has an affable personality, opposite to Musa. But he forego any decorum when faced with unjust abuse. Has a bad note for squandering his elder brother, Ismail's wealth when gifted freely.

13. Ishaq bin Ya'qûb
Only guy in family to have entered College of King Dhul Qarnayn, followed by Fatima Az-Zahra. This generally places him among the brilliant.

Loves fun and teasing, but considers Fatima Az-Zahra to be a pro. He's a bibliophile so much so his brothers are afraid he might not get married due to devotion to books.

14. Maryam bint Ya'qûb
Age: 17yrs

Appearance: Most beautiful girl of her age group in Tâ Hâ and probably beyond, as seen till now. People are stunned on seeing her for the first time.

Personality: Gentle, graceful, modest, learned in Dîn. She has the qualities all ladies would looked up to her for. The only thing both her mother and elder sister think is missing from her, - is complete modesty as symbolized in the niqâb. Perhaps, to protect her due to her being too beautiful.

Background: Most beloved daughter of Hajj Ya'qûb, no one dares to offend her. She runs errands for family and people like the old Chinese lady in the market. Arkaan seems to remember her from their childhood. Though she feels Arkaan is familiar, she can't seem to recall anything..

Goals: Nothing has yet been stated of her ambition, though there are signs of her love for revival of the South's halaqah.

Halaqah: Personally trained by mother since childhood. For some unstated reason, she is not yet eligible to enter the number one ladies' halaqah in the country, - HOVS. Though it is stated that, had she been a part of them, she'd have attained position of Legacy apprentice - apparently the highest student position.

Interest: Halaqât of the Qur'an

15. Abdul Sattâr
Aged caretaker of the Masjidur Rahmân. He reminisces the days of the South halaqah, and wishes its revival. He seems to know Arkaan as well, as the student-apprentice of Al Iskandarī.

16. Blackhooded boy
Arkaan first sees him in the Masjidur Rahmân, when no one's around. His smouldering gray eyes seem to evoke a memory of the past, where Hilya was present, and a wolf-dog beast with same eyes, tried to harm him.

17. Hilyatul Awliyyah
Age: Preteenager

Appearance: Sickly-pale beauty, but she has a saintly countenance and radiance about her person.

Personality: Kind and gentle, compassion for all. She seems to prefer isolation to being around people, hence her being in the Burning forest alone when Arkaan encountered her.

Background: According to Arkaan, she's amnesiac. Thus, her past is unknown. Only two people hold the key to her identity, her former travelling companions - Al Iskandarī and Zaynal-Âbidîn. Her diary is in Arkaan's possession now. He discovers a torn piece of her cloth within, which has the symbol of '114' in Arabic numerals on it, much similar to Al Iskandarī's pattern.

Interest: Allah. His Qur'an..

Goals: To form a circle where people will learn about Allah through His Book, and come to love Him, and attain closeness to Him.

18. Eastern Waterfall Halaqah (One of the three Eastern 'king' Halaqât of East district) Members

•Brother Abdul Majid: built guy with the ghutra and egal

•Brother Layyin: baby-faced baldy

•Brother Haashim: an Al Maghribi, first cousin of the sons of Hajj Ya'qûb. Described as being fair with beauty like polished jade. Reserved with a good disposition, but due to his gentle nature he's easily controlled by others especially the Eastern Waterfall guys. Said to be fluent in the Arabic language, and Eastern Waterfall's number one Qaari who has finished hifz of half of Qur'an.

•Brother Mahâsin: olive-skinned guy who can be conniving though cautious.

•Brother Kifâyat: temperamental guy.

•Brother Luqmaan: Student Leader of Eastern Waterfall Halaqah. Can be demeaning at times, but has the leadership qualities of a leader.

19. Chinese Market Landmass
•Madam Chu: Old Chinese lady who sells herbs and spices. She's very fond of Maryam for helping her in her business always.

•Old man Wang: Canoe-man for crossing unto Al Maghribi estate from Chinese Market. Also transports people on other parts of river Kawthar.

•African man, leather bags seller: sells leather bag to Arkaan.

•Old man Khidr: old beggar man with wizened appearance and peppered beard who guides Arkaan for a fee. Due to his tactics in duping Arkaan, he's seen as a conman.

20.Lady Frieda(Head Proprietress of Iqra Complex)
Age: Middle-aged woman

Appearance: Statuesque and elegant, role model of almost every girl on Tâ Hâ. Known as 'The Verdant Lady' due to her signature chartreuse burqa.

Personality: Kind and accommodating to people. Always likes to help. Her other side is revealed when she meets the four tribes..

Background: Foundress and proprietress of Iqra Complex, the first High school in Tâ Hâ, she's also known as Lady Principal by her students. She is known to have come from the West and found the school. She disappeared from public view for a while, in which time she lost her husband.

She returns as the Head proprietress once again. Only Maryam bint Ya'qûb, who can be considered as her apprentice knows the Verdant Lady had a son who's about her very age.

Goals: To lead Iqra Complex from one success to another, guide the children to succeed in life. Perhaps, as atonement for her past.

Interest: Fruits

21. Dr. Dawud: renowned physician of South district, heals the sick-poor for free. He's the warden of Rafik.

22. Rafik Ibn Ziyâd Al Aswâdi: an African youth and member of the Al Aswâdi tribe. He's the apprentice of Dr. Dawud who wished to join the halaqah long when it first started. Though he didn't get the chance due to his responsibilities then, now that the halaqah is being revived, he has the privilege to become one of its pioneers this time.

23. Mother Ashyaa: an old housekeeper Lady Frieda had hired to look after her old house in the South district and keep it as it was. She's later tasked to also look after Ukashah.
The two lived as close neighbours to an ahlûl kitâb couple, the man's name is given as Dr. Henry, in the apartment nearby. They only know the couple as living alone, but there's now suspicion that a youth lives in the apartment too. At the moment, the family's absent.

24. Crown Prince Ihtisham Ibn Sulaymân
Age: young man, probably 23-25yrs

Appearance: fine young scholarly Prince who radiates a golden aura. Has brown melting chocolate eyes. Slender in physique, with sideburns tailing in a goatee, he has red strands of hair blending amidst brown, giving it a flamme de vesuve colour.

Personality: He's seen to be neat with an elegance, though he lives alone in Sky Legacy Haven without any househelps. It's also said that he's simple in his living even as a noble. Melancholic, especially after he 'loses' his family and Country.

Background: believes his brother died in the rebellion, although speculations in the Al Qalb-ul-Ard palace seem to say otherwise. He's kept in the dark about these rumours even by Prince Fridaws, who's considered his close friend, though for both brothers' sake.

Goals: He seems to be dead inside at times.. The Royal family wishes him to have a goal to live for. Perhaps, to avenge his family, and regain his father's throne.

Interest: loves the dark, favourite colour is green..

25. Prince Fridaws Ibn Dhul Qarnayn
Age: youth in his blooming teenage years, perhaps 13-15yrs

Appearance: described as having a clear and crystalline voice like a perfect songbird. Has an ethereal appearance likened to the purity of winter that lightens the dark.

Personality: loves simplicity though a Royal. Is shown to be introspective and astute.

Background: Not much background info, except he's a Prince of Al Qalb-ul-Ard. His father is the King. His elder sister is Princess Hafsah, and first cousin is Prince Reyaz. He's one of the Quraa' who've reached the level of Ar-Riqâq.

Goals: doesn't want Prince Ihtisham to fall into the darkness and pull his sister with him into it. It's said, that's the main reason why he's become friends with the Crown Prince in the first place.

Interest: loves the Qur'an, competitions in Qur'an hifz, qira'at, and sawt, and is also a fan of Tâ Hâ's five Quraa'.

Loves books outside the curricula, that talk about several random and eccentric stuffs on kingship, peace of heart, memories etc. Fond of his elder sister Hafsah who's to marry the Crown Prince Ihtisham. Favourite colour is coral...

26. Princess Hafsah Bint Dhul Qarnayn
Daughter of the King of Al Qalb-ul-Ard and elder sister to Prince Fridaws, she decides to maintain her engagement contract with the Prince of neighbouring country of King Sulaymân, though the latter has essentially lost his kingdom and position. As to why, it's still unknown.

27. Prince Reyaz
So far, not much is known about him except that he's Prince Fridaws' first cousin, and plans to journey to Tâ Hâ together with the young Prince before the GQRC begins that year.

28. Hajj Ya'qûb Al Maghribi
Age: midforties

Appearance: dignifying countenance, looks younger than his real age. Full dense beard with few white strands interlaced. Very tidy, and clever-looking.

Personality: Wise and forbearing, though his constant association with the elders of Tâ Hâ's four tribes has risen in him a competitive spirit. Charismatic, tacit towards people like the four tribe elders. Calm in speech, but occasionally can raise voice to emphasize his point. A good judge of character.

Background: Hajji and councilman who represents the South district in Tâ Hâ's council meetings. He laments about the decline in the South. Even though he doesn't care what people think, he wishes to salvage the situation, and believes attitude is key.

Interest: loves white garbs. Loves his children, especially Zak among the boys, and Maryam among the girls perhaps because of their love for Dîn knowledge. Because of this, sometimes the natural feeling of rivalry awakens in his kids, though they're united and rein in any feeling of jealousy.

Loves Qur'an, and is happy when children dedicate themselves to it.

Goals: wants to revive the fervour of the youth for seeking knowledge in the South district and Tâ Hâ as a whole, thus achieve reformation of the young generation which has degenerated.

He therefore challenges the kids to singlehandedly revive the South district halaqah. Though he'd help from the shadows.

29. Irshad bin Aswad and Jârullah bin Luqmân
Eminent Quraa' from the City Sâd. Zayn-al-Abidîn is said to have been left in awe by Irshad.

30. Bibi Fatima
An old woman with a contented smile, radiant face, and the warmth of a saint. She is the grandmother of Hajj Ya'qûb. Considering her age, it's seen that she has aged gracefully and still has admirable strength. Calls Hajj Ya'qûb little'Usfoor, and his sons - At Tuyur.

31. Fatima Az-Zahra
Age: 20yrs

Appearance: Gold yellow tresses, brown orbs, she's a beauty like her sisters in the house.

Personality: Has mischievousness in her thoughts. Playful and good-natured. She's observant, and an intelligent girl from the fact she's gained admission into College of King Dhul Qarnayn after her bibliophile elder half-brother. Sees people and life situations as games where people are players.

Interest: Mockery, and playing games..

32. Hayaa bint Ya'qûb
Age:19yrs

Appearance:A beautiful girl with a silvery complexion, like a sylph.

Background: Niqâbi, elder full sister of Maryam. She loves Arkaan's Bayaan, but gets an off-feeling from him. She thus, dislikes Maryam getting close to him.

Interest: Can't talk of that, except she's bored even by contests involving Al Iskandarī's apprentice, -Zak. Apparently, she's too far beyond such quizzes in knowledge.

Goals: At the moment, - to get Maryam into HOVS.

Halaqah: Halaqah Of Veiled Sisters(HOVS)

33. Lady Maryam
Legacy student of the esteemed Veiled Sisters' Halaqah on the mainland (HOVS), she possesses an unparalleled beauty hidden under her niqab.

Once she was famed as emotionless as much as she was learned. The King is said to have sort her hand. The events underlying that incident are unrevealed but Hajj Ya'qûb finally wins her heart and hand in an event he refers to as 'The Locket and Key'. A similar locket and key was given to Arkaan by a girl he remembers as Maryam, when they were little.

34. Nana Aisha
Second wife of Hajj Ya'qûb. Caucasian, blue eyes blonde. She's learned in Dîn, and personally sees to both Zak's and Abdullah's Qira'at. She loves her children to be at the top wherever they are. She cuts off Zak's social life for this purpose.

Little is yet said about her relationship with her daughters, - Fatima Az-Zahra and Khadijah.

35. Lady Zulaykha
First wife of Hajj Ya'qûb. Mother of Ismail, Ishaq, Harûn, and Musa. She seems to know a lot about things going on around.

36. Tasnîma bint Al Ilyâsin
Niqâbi, pretty and well-cultured, she's the daughter of an Ilyâsin patriarch. It's revealed she's actually Arkaan's aunt, and younger sister of Arkaan's father and another brother.

According to her, she lost both brothers and her mother years ago due to an incident originating with Lady Frieda. She also lost Arkaan.

Now that he's back, she decides to avoid interference, though sends him a gift of books..

She's currently the newly wed wife of Ismail.

37. Abdul Bâqi Al Aswâdi
One of the five Quraa', of African descent, and from the affiliated tribe of Tâ Hâ, Banu Al Aswâdi. Has a matured and charming look.

Little is yet known of him, but from Zak's flashback, he seems to like examining people, to know what they're thinking and their prowess. It's also shown that he's judgmental.

38. Urwáh
One of the five Quraa', an Asian, particularly, - Chinese. He's shown to have no aura at all. When Zak meets him first, he's drawn to him, like a spiritual oasis.

He seems to cherish correction from others, knowledge, and istighfâr. Permanent tear stains are present on his otherwise pleasant looking face. He's also emaciated, and has the appearance of an invalid.

39. Zayn-al-Âbidîn
One of the five Quraa', only one to have travelled with Al Iskandarī right from the start, and thus met with Hilya.

He's blind, and yet - the most beautiful child ever to be seen. He possesses a characteristically white long turban to cover his face and beauty.

Loves to smile, but hadn't spoken much in encounter of Zak with the group.

40. Âyah
Redbearded man who has been following Ukashah since Friday night. With expert swordsmanship skills, he also bears the crest of royalty of the Country of King Sulaymân. Ukashah later realizes that's his uncle. And he brings news of the Capital and Ukashah's father..

It should be noted that, Arkaan mentions a man he met on the ferry called Redbeard. Indications may point to this man..

Grand Event of Hâ Mîm
About two years ago, at a great gathering in the Hâ Mîm towns, five Quraa' rose to prominence.

The aftermath of which, was the disappearance of their Ustadh, and the fall of the South district halaqah. The students left, and only two who were among the exceptional five remain, - Ukashah bin Sulaymân, and Zakariyya bin Ya'qûb.

A green-eyed boy is washed ashore the island city, seeking to correct his past, and now, - revive his former master's halaqah.

But there are a few, who would stand in his way. As those who have the power, they also wield the forces of the masses..
