Chapter 4 ||Mystery Hunt|| [Edited]
I really love Reverse Fall. Up on the media. What do you think of Reverse Dipper and Reverse Bill? Guys, I'm going to republish this book and edit it. Is that okay?
Your POV
It was finally morning. Yesterday, all I did last night was lifting objects by my telekinesis. And making illusions of scary beinhs like a human getting its head cutten off. But it's a bothersome, I'm not enjoying it anymore. It actually despises me.
It was no fun. No fun at all. I didn't feel erratic. Instead, I felt sad or maybe boredom. Opression, aybe? I never felt the emotion of sadness. True that demons have emotions, as you've seen Dad raging and laughing. But I never felt this kind of emotion. It's a requited pain anyway.
I stared at the window. No one was out. Everyone was asleep. Do mortals usually sleep in two 'o clock? It's morning, isn't it? Why won't they get up? I realized I should've been back to the Nightmare Realm. I gazed at the twins for a while. I was having so much fun last night that i couldn't leave them. But, oh well, I have to. It's for the best to return back before Dad comes to this world, only to cause a rampage just to find me.
A portal formed right in front of me. My eyes widen, I wasn't the one who did that. Did I? Or perhaps Dad?! "Go." I turned my heel to see Will, drapping his back against the twins' room's door with his eyes shut. "Bill'll hunt you down if he sees this."
"Will.." I bit my lip and slightly nodded. I had one last glance at the twins, then back at my brother. "What about you? Aren't you coming back home?"
Thus, he slit a chuckle. "I'd rather not. Sticking with a monster like him was already been a nightmare to me." He slithered a smile of sadness and happiness, "I can't go back, sister. You know that."
I sighed and then turned my back, facing the portal. "Hey, if you want to talk things out.. feel free,"
"Eh, sure. Whatever." He disappeared in blue flames. I entered the portal. Before even a blink, I was back at the Nightmare Realm. Same old miserable home. I took a stroll, actually, it was more like flying. I startled as an eye turned into Bill. Who was right away in his human form. Gotta tell ya, even though if he's in his human dorm, he's still creepy.
"Hello there, (y/n)." Dad slithered a calm smile. Something's wrong. "Why haven't I saw you in the Nightmare Realm yesterday?" Yup, something's definitely wrong! He cocked an eyebrow, "what exactly were you doing?"
"W-Well, I was uhm.. I was, uhh, well. You see." I tried making up any possible excuse 'till I just found the right one for that. "I was ruining dreams!"
"It's morning, (y/n)." His one eye turned into a clock one, representing the time from the human world. "And everyone's awake." Once it reverted back, his brows were furrowing.
He is right. Dipper and Mabel's awake. I sense the presence of their passivebess. And everyone as well. I bit my bottom lip, and hoped he wouldn't know what I was really doing. I stayed silent, thinking of thousands of positive excuses. But his voice stopped me right away. "You're not exactly lying to me, are you?" He asked in a rage synthesized voice. He was angry for sure. Portions of outfit and hair turned red. His eyes were black but with red splits. Clearly, his demon form.
"N-No! I would never do such a thing!" I sheepishly slit a laugh of anxienty. He distorted back to his human form, he didn't look happy. Does he know I'm lying to him? More importantly, does he know what I have been doing?
"Y'know, (y/n). You've been out of this realm for too long." He chuckled, but that eventually soured once he honed at me. "I"m starting to think there's something up with you in the Mortal World."
"Tell me, (y/n)." He added, "what exactly are you doing on the Mortal Realm?!" His eye turned glowing blue and blue flames rised behind him, same very high temperature of heat of his flames like Will's from earlier. At least, he's not taking his form of the true demon (the one all red and stuff)
I gulped. My number one fear is none other than my father outbursting his anger at me. I didn't know what to say. He talled his vhin while grinning widely. "Well then, since you can't speak up. Then let's do it the old fashion way!" He snapped his fingers. An illusionary mortal appeared. I didn't really expect it to be her. Why Mabel? I knew if was just one of Dad's illusions to test my inner demon, but why does it habe to be Mabel?
"Father, you can't be serious." I cried out. I can't kill my friend! Even though if she's just an illusion. I don't wanna! A Dream Demon's illusions can be touched, smelled, heard, felt and see. If I kill her, blood would be gushing out everywhere.
"Oh, I am serious. Kill her," Bill'd eyes gotten more blue as ever, blue flames rapidly rised once more. "Don't tell me you've gotten soft just like Good Ol' Little Willy, alright?"
To prove it, I formed my hands in a circular motion as a ring of blue flames ignited. I have to. I don't want them hurt. They'll just get involved. And Will might get hurt if Bill finds out that he's living in the human world. I weakly stared at Illusionary Mabel. I just can't do it. I don't have the will. I don't have the motive. I..don't have the heart to do it.
I closed my eyes shut as the flames quenched away. I heard Dad sigh in disappointment. As I opened by eyes bit by bit, Dad snapped his fingers as Mabel dissolved away. "Y'know, I'm very very disappointed in you. You're a Dream Demon, our race don't show mercy! You're an embarrassment to our kind, just like him!" He turned red. Turning into the monster he really is, turning to his demon form. At least it wasn't his monster one. That could've been gigantic, cringy and scarier.
"I'm sorry.".
"You're a lot of things, (y/n). You have something special in you," he clenched his fists as he shutted his eyes tight. Holding his rage, "you have great power. But you wasted it because of this mortal?!" He almost shouted, I feckly flinched.
He sighed, "you can do a lot of things, (y/n). But sparing a mortal is not of them. We'll take..abou this behavior of yours later," he disappeared in a flash.
"What am I ever gonna do?" I sighed. Mabel. Dipper. A brief flash glistened as I transposed myself back to the shack. No one saw me. How lucky. I wandered around 'till someone clamped a hand on my shoulder.
I barely flinched. Once I turned, I saw Dipper. "Hey, we're going on a Mystery hunt. Wanna join the fun?" He smiled as Mabel waved from behind him.
"I guess so." What's a Mystery Hunt anyway? Is it something important to them?
"Cool. This way, (y/n)!" Mabel grabbed my hand, dragging me to the forest as dipper followed behind. Isn't there a day when I'm not being dragged by Mabel or any mortal? We were now in the forest. It was too dark. Well, kinda dark since Mabel was able to light the eay by her sweater glowing.
"M-Mabel, you're glowing." I gaped. "Isn't that a fire hazard?"
"No. It's fun hazard!" She giggled as she rushed to forest. More like skipping, bobbing herself up and down. Dipper snagged out his journal. I didn't bother trying to steal it anymore. I like having friends, but sometimes, the problem isnme. I'm a relative of a psychopath who's been trying to annihilate the Pines all day.
Will's Pov
I sat behind a tree's trunk. As always, I've been watching over (y/n). I need to. I don't want her to see Bill's real side of the evil. I'm a weapon and she's the key.
Normally, I trust these Pines. But not their uncle. Not Stanley. Just..someone else. I crooked my back against the tree as I sat idly, with one foot laying down on the grass while the other one crooked, with my arm resting on its joint.
"(Y/n).. be safe.." I managed to croak out before I sensed someone coming in. A red flaming sword was spawned before my hand, I turned my head to see just a blonde-haired girl with blue eyes. I sighed in relief, it's just her. The sword faded away. Don't worry, (y/n). I'll save you. It's just a matter of time before he shows up and that's when I'll be joining you.
"Well. Well. Well. If it isn't the Loser Twins!" Pacifica Northwest, the only daughter of the Northwests arrogantly bantered. "I see you're with another freak!"
I sighed as I muttered, "that Ilama doesn't know what she's doing." I rested the back of my head against the tree. I was still invisible. Good.
"Leave her out of this, Pacifica." Dipper stated, defending my sister. "What are you doing here anyways?"
"Ooo, love in the battlefield." I smirked as I heard my sister say from the mind "would you quit it?!"
"Y'know, just cooling out." Pacifica examined her nails. I can see them even they're just behind me. I have my eyes everywhere in each part of Oregon's Gravity Falls.
"Uhm, in the forest..?" Dipper cocked an eyebrow.
As I stifled a laugh, smothering my mouth. I holded my laugh, "good one, Pine Tree." I muffled as I would wanna break out my laughing. Because of my laughing, a strong of howl by the wind occured. It russled my hair over my eyes and also (y/n)'s and others.
The weather works by my feelings. If I'm feeling happy, the weather'll turn windy. If I'm mad, it'll turn stormy. If I'm gloomy, it'll rain. If I feel regret, it'll just get cold. If it's a mixed emotion, it'll be complicated. Like when I'm sad and happy coincidentally, it'll be a sunny shower.
Pacifica blushed in embarrassment, "yeah! Yeah! Sure. Whatever!" She then left, storming away. I watched her leave by the corner of my eye as I peered over her in a dull away.
"Sorry, that's just Pacifica. One of the Northwests," Dipper huffed, folding his arms.
While his twin then added, "the Fakers!"
I rolled my eyes as I snagged out a pocketwatch. I clicked its switch as time fast forward, its long handle spinning around rapidly. Ruminating the ominous future, it ruminated Dipper and Pacifica laughing while stepping mud on the floor.
I chuckled a bit, "ahh, young love. Hate could turn to love, he doesn't realize that." Then back to the present day, (y/n) curiously pondered about the Northwests. Dipper began explaining to her about what happened back in Pioneer Day.
"Oh, so she's like a liar?" (Y/n) cluelessly quirked a brow. I smirked sadistically as I've seen her all clueless. People who're clueless and helpless are pathetic - they keep waiting for somebody to explain it to them in simple terms - they keep waiting for someone to do it 'cause it's easier when someone else does it, instead of you. I hate things like that. People let others suffer who work hard to do things.
That's how Bill used me. Gah, just think about this makes my throat dry. I should stop loitering around (y/n) though. She can handle herself. I'll just wait for the right time of where she'll need help.
"Yeah, her family's a liar." Dipper said, "and also their family name if I do say so myself!"
"Okay. So off to the Mystery Hunt!" Mabel proclaimed, marching around. Dipper followed behind as he buried his nose on his journal. I've got to guard that journal. In Bill's hands, the Pines and Humanity could be in danger.
"Hey, how about we split up for clues?" Dipper queried as all fo them nodded in agreement. Once they ramified their ways, my sister was near the trees. I should watch out. Don't want her stepping on my foot, got it? I glided over the air and perched on top of a tree, watching down over (y/n).
I smiled as she pondered around. Then my smile soured when I saw her witnessing a glowing eye anteriorly. After it blinked. It formed into our childish father. Just saying it makes me despise him more.
He was in his triangular form, "hey, (y/n)! Off to a Mystery Hunt, I see!" Exclaimed Bill in the most happy way. Tch, why am I even here? Shouldn't I leave them just like last time? Seeing his face makes me cringe. His human form's look even looks like me in a way.
A while ago, he's mad. And now he's happy. Greeat. (Y/n) thought. Even if I didn't want to read her mind, my third/demon eye's making me.
"Of course, I'm not forgeting about what you did back at the Nightmare Realm. We're still going to talk about that."
(Y/n) rolled her eyes. Riight.. he can read my mind.
"I saw that eye roll!" Bill winked playfully at her. Still the same psychopath. "Now. If you're a real Dream Demon, then you've got to stop..all of this." He gestured a lump of her, flattening his brows. I, too, frowned in confusion. Stop what now?
(Y/n) folded her arms as she coldy blunted, "are you seriously saying that to me in a straight face?"
"What?"
"Why are you even here? Aren't going out there and torturing or who knows what?" (Y/n) blunted.
"Hey, (y/n)! Heads up!" Bill snapped his fingers as a dead head from a human landed on (y/n)'s hands. I grimaced in disgust. "Get it?" He then began to cackle out of insanity.
As I clenched my fists, my eyes turned from normal to a demon's. Just like Bill's when he turns angry. My jagged teeth was exposed right after I gnashed my teeth. My demon eye was showing, I didn't bother covering it. I was really mad. Eventually, I holded back my anger.
(Y/n) didn't bother laughing with him which caused Bill to stop. I could feel my sister feel hatred, "are you kidding me? What kind of a dad gives his daughter a head? If someone saw this, they're probably gonna scream!" She gestured to it.
And someone screamed.
I facepalmed. Way to go showing it out to much in the open. They turned to see Pacifica standing there, yelping. She darted away. "See?! Now look what you did!" (Y/n) incinerated the head into ashes. "Seriously dad!" She ran away from Bill.
I sat up from the tree in a rush, grumbling between my gritted teeth. "Damn. You bastard, Bill." I glided off and flied to Pacifica, turning visible again. I've got to kill her. I have to. I know I'm not allowed to meddle with human lives, but I have to. We've been discovered.
I spawned my sword, hurdling from tree to tree. Then pounched over her, ready to slash my sword to slice her in half. But someone pushed me away. That person pushed me to the ground. "Ouch. What the.." once I fluttered my eyes, I met up with (y/n)'s eyes. She was on top of me. "(Y/n)..?"
"Don't kill her! Don't kill," (y/n) gripped in the blade of sword, preventing me to move it. If I even think about making a single movement that involves about my sword, she might get hurt. Its blade is very sharp. "You don't have to kill anymore. Just join us Pines,"
Her eyes represented kindness. What is this? My eyes were shaking, not in fright but something else. This isn't the (y/n) I know. She..changed. What happened to here? Did they (Dipper and Mabel) change her?
But..I'm not ready. I'm not ready to talk things out with her. I'm not ready to call myself her brother. Right after what I did. I won't.
I perked my head down as my hair shrouded over my eyes as I began disappearing in blue flames. After muttering, "I can't stand this.."
Your Pov
I watched my brother dissolve into blue flames as he disappeared before me. His words of 'I can't stand this' just what does it mean? Is he approving with the human side?
Pacifica. That's right. I have to erase her memories. It's the only best option than killing somebody. I teleported to her location, just right in time where she turned her heel to witness me.
"You, what are you?" Once she saw my eyes, it reminded her of the tapestry back at the manor. "Y-You're that demon!
I sighed, "I hate it when someone says that." I disappeared after passing by a tree nearby.
"Where'd she go?!"
I cropped up right behind her. She didn't knew that. She was busy mumbling to herself to calm down. I'd hate seeing a human being intimidated by a demon such as my race, so I'll just make this quick.
I flicked my forefinger from side to side, and rested my palm on her back. Golden mists began to sprawl out of her back to her eyes. They glinted amber as mine did so too. I then whispered in a deep monotone, "listen. You'll forget everything you saw today, are we clear?" I smirked deviously, as I did this. I still enjoy doing stuff like this. I could manipulate her memories and give them bad ones - I could give her fake memories of us being bestfriends - I could make her behave in a nice way around the Pines.
Stuff like that. But there're side effects, they could figure it out by just questioning themselves of how on Earth did that even happen. Humans are quick-witted. They can solve things like that.
Once after Pacifica nodded slightly, I instantly took my hand away and glided to the bushes. I watched her revert back to normal, cluelessly turning her head from side to side and examining her environment. "Huh? What am I doing here?" She then shooked it away and began darting to her way back home.
I then spotted Dipper and Mabel from the corner of my eye. I was facing their backs a mile away. I stared at my palm, I have the power to manipulate their memories. I could make them think of me as their bestfriend or either erase my moments with them and leave them peacefully like Will does with other humans. He once befriending with Nate and Lee actually. Though, he erased their memories after all.
I then made the right decision, "hey guys, found anything yet?" I paced up to them. I want to be their real friends. I want to be honest with myself.
"Nope. Guess there's no mystery for today," Dipper remarked in disappointment. He doesn't know that the mystery was just right in front of him. "Hmm, weird." I cringed a bit when he said that.
A familiar cackle, similar to Dad's echoed my mind. I wasn't sure if it was the forest or my mind, really. Yet I could tell that it was mental, the Pines didn't even move a muscle about wondering. So basically, it's just my delusions.
Although, I'm still anxious. "Say, how about we go back to the shack and have some fun?"
"Yeah, sounds good." Mabel agreed, walking back first with Dipper. I looked back, Dad wasn't there. I don't sense his presence or anyone's anywhere but just us three. I couldn't sense any malevolence around. You could sense malevolence when Will's around, but now it's just another pure dark forest.
I could've sworn I heard Dad's laugh. As I made my way back to the shack, the devil's laugh has still pierced into me and won't go away.
