2. New Beginnings

We were separated, both of us married and going to work. Michael worked as a chef and had open his own restaurant and I was an employee in a business. That day was the day we got together again. I invited him home. I sat on the coffee-brown gabardine sofa, gazing at the clock tickling, waiting for it to turn 9:00 p.m. and that he comes, fidgeting my feet.

Suddenly, I heard the handle rotating and the door flung open. A recognising figure appeared then a woman behind. As they entered in, I whispered, "Michael."

"John! Is that really you, eh." he exclaimed, "You haven't changed not a bit."

"Oh, you too, oblong-faced." I declared, approaching him and slinging my arm to his muscular shoulders, tapping him on the back along with a frenzy of excitement, "You're still beefy."

"Yep, had had some workouts in the gym." he said, smiling cheekily, "Else, as a chef, your hands would be tired, as deflated like a balloon, completely blown up and flattened that you can't lift up a pan."

"Ahh, and would you not present your wife," I stated.

"Ohh, she's Sara." he told, "And yours?"

"Isla... she likes cooking also just like you do." I said, "C'mon, let's get on with our feast. My stomach is already screaming for food."

Everyone was outdoor, sat together around the red cedar table, eating the scrumptious roasted chicken, fish and chip along with bread, chatting noisily meanwhile.

"Hey, do remember the hike, following the railway lines?" I asked.

"Yeah, that was the moments," he replied, sipping his glass of wine.

"How about to do it again," I answered.

"Experience it again?... Well... if the madames could let us," he responded, nuzzling.

"And if it's a yes from them?" I questioned.

   "So we'll go." he frowned.

"We'll better ask them before you go," I stated.

Finally, after the great grand dinner came to an end, they were in the living room. "Hey, ladies, we're planning for a hike in the woods, as we told you when we were teens. Will you accept it?" I launched myself.

"Come on, you're no longer teen now," Sara said, eye-rollingly.

"But... it would be great fun," I said.

"And what if danger strikes?" Isla said, cross-armed.

"Oh... just give a fuck about it." Michael declared, "We'll handle it."

"Yeah, we'll manage it, though," I said.

Sara took a deep breath and sighed, "Okayyy..."

   "And you Isla," I said.

She shrugged and grimaced, "Dunno... Ok... Yesss... and when is this planned?"

"Well, tomorrow's tomorrow I'm free and then there'll be Sunday where I don't work," I said, "And you?"

"I'll better close the restaurant, taking some adventurous moments again," Michael said.

"Then, get ready to re-experience this," I shouted.
