A Belated Halloween Disaster
Written/Edited By: Kyla
In the universe in the Realm of the Nuzlocke Games...
In the Nuzlocke World, the trainers don't celebrate Halloween like they used to in their old worlds. They would partake in what is called "The Pumpkaboo Event" Every year, it has become a Nuzlocke tradition for all the trainers to capture Pumpkaboo and dress them up. Especially for the season, the creators of The Nuzlocke World would spawn in forests of Pumpkaboo, which they called Pumpkaboo Patches. The creators gave a prize to the most impressive Pumpkaboo, whether it was a shiny, or dressed in the most popular or impressive attire, or if it was the smallest. The Grand Winner is offered a special prize, an infinite supply of rare candies, max heals, and potions, as well as a master ball. There's a catch though, the three lowest scoring contestants are exiled into oblivion. Unable to travel to any world. They all float out in oblivion unless they find a rock of which they could live on. Everyone between the ages of 10 and 18 must partake in this event or they are exiled anyways. I'd have to admit, The Creators of Nuzlocke have a really sick way of giving creativity importance. I was really scared, because this was Luna's first Pumpkaboo Event, and if she doesn't fare well, I might lose her. After everything she's done for me... I feel like it is my sworn duty to protect her. I might be made out of metal, but for some reason, when I lay my hand on my chest, I could feel a faint beat. Luna is like a little sister to me... I will not let her be taken away by the monsters that brought us here.
Luna got up early in the morning, she ran around our cottage dressed up in her Pumpkaboo onesie I made her. When she woke me up from my sleep, I legitimately thought she was a Pumpkaboo. So I grabbed her head and called for her. When I realized I put "her" head in a choke hold, I immediately let go. She let out a little cough. I was really worried of what I've done. "Luna are you ok?' I asked. She nodded and gave a little giggle. I smiled a carried her to the breakfast table where I prepared her a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. She's such a sweetie. Once she finished her orange juice, we headed out to the woods. I packed Luna's pink backpack with a water bottle, pokeballs, a notebook, snack, and a max heal. I guided her to the nearest Pumpkaboo Patch. The next spawn time was in forty minutes. That gave us plenty time to go to the woods of Level 16. Once we arrived to the spot, we set-up camp. "Ok Luna, you have to be very quiet, and if you see a good Pumpkaboo, tell me and you can climb down and catch it." I whispered. Luna nodded in reply. A countdown shone from my Nuzlocke Stone... 10 seconds until the next spawn... 9... 8...7...6...5....4......3..........2.............1! A bell sounded and a 100 wild Pumpkaboos appeared! Trainers ran around trying to catch the nicest Pumpkaboos they could find. Some Trainers even attempted to steal each others' Pokeballs. That was why we set up camp in a tall Pecha Berry Tree. I didn't want Luna to be robbed or harmed. Once all the crazy trainers left. I guided Luna down the tree top. But for some reason, Luna refused to budge when she got to the branch that led to a drop to the floor. "I don't want to jump" she told me. I jumped down first. "I'll catch you Luna, don't worry" But she clung to the tree trunk. "I won't let you get hurt Luna, I promise! Please just jump to me!" She finally let go of the tree trunk and gave a mighty leap right into my arms. Except for the fact she practically tackled me. I fell straight to the ground. My lunch spilled everywhere. I gave a heavy sigh. As I went to pick up what was left of my sandwich. I saw something in the bush that was next to me. I heard a rustle, and out emerged a Drifloon. I eyed the Drifloon. "You mean nothing to me" I said to it. But then I realized... Drifloons don't have black tufts on their heads... I grabbed the floating purple Pokemon, and turned it so it faced me. I'll be darned, It was a shiny Pumpkaboo! I allowed the little Pumpkaboo to finish the sandwich meat I gave it, and when it gave a happy cheer. I opened my Pokeball up to it. With a flash of light, the Pumpkaboo was in my Pokeball. The center blinked red three times, ensuring my catch was a success! I jumped for joy. I was going to give Luna one of the only shiny Pumpkaboos! I wanted to ensure she would live. I called out for Luna, she had run off somewhere. I couldn't find her. "LUNA!" I shouted. As I walked through the woods, I heard a sweet tune playing through the air... A reed flute. I followed the sound to see Luna amidst a flock of Mix Breed Pumpkaboo. My eyes widened. I screamed for Luna to catch them. She laughed once she finished he song. "Aw, you little ones are so sweet, but I'm afraid it's time for me to go home. All five Pumpkaboos lined up and each on retreated to a Pokeball that was in Luna's hands. My jaw dropped. "Luna... H-h-how did you get s-so many Pumpkaboos to stay with you?!" I asked with a stunned look on my face. She giggled. "Before I appeared in Nuzlocke, my mommy taught me a song on the reed flute, which she called Moonlight Serenity. She named it after me, because it always calmed me when I was scared. I smiled and gave Luna a tight hug. She smiled back. "I'm glad I met you Shane-San" She said cheerily. I took Luna to the shop after tidying up, to find some Pumpkaboo accessories and costumes. Some shiny gems would do good for each Pumpkaboo. Once Luna was satisfied with our purchases, we returned home. After making Luna and I dinner, I started working on a Drifloon Cosplay for my Pumpkaboo. You Could probably guess why.
The next day was Judgement Day for The Pumpkaboo Event, so Luna and I had to get up extra early to get our Pumpkaboos all spiffied. We got to the stadium for the event on time. I could tell Luna was nervous, and to be honest, so was I. The judges were some of the most popular and powerful Pokemon Masters in The Nuzlocke World. Valerie, Fiona, and Jordan (The Leaders of Team Valor, Mystic, and Instinct) As well as Lord Joseph and his... Girlfriend? Who he calls Amber Sunset. Luna and I released our Pumpkaboos to get judged. As Lord Joseph and Amber came around, I realized Amber was acting a little shy, and a bit suspicious.I thought nothing of it. Maybe she was just a bit camera shy. Especially since this event was being broadcasted across Nuzlocke. I just couldn't help thinking she seemed a little off. Luna and I were dismissed into a lobby where people rested while waiting for results. Many hours later, Valerie's voice blared out on a loudspeaker. "All participants of The Pumpkaboo Event please report back to the stadium!" Luna and I made our way there. Lord Joseph's image appeared as a giant hologram in the middle of the stadium. Once everyone made it into the stadium, he thanked us all for coming and was about to announce the winner. But before he did, he asked everyone to release their Pumpkaboos so everyone could get a final look at them before the winner was announced and the three losers... The microphone screeched, but Lord Joseph ignored it and carried on with announcing the winner. "The Winner of This Year's Pumpkaboo Event Is!!!!!" -there was a long silence- Joe opened his mouth to say who, but out of nowhere, a high pitched screech sounded throughout the room, and all of a sudden... All of The Pumpkaboo turned rogue and started attacking the trainers. An evil laugh could be heard from all four corners of the stadium as people were being attacked and even killed by the Pumpkaboos. Even our Pumpkaboos started attacking us. I shielded Luna from the attacks and quickly called on my Pidgeot to help Luna and I escape. My metal interior was no match for any Pumpkaboo. Their attacks only ripped the flesh covering my interior mechanics.Thankfully, It seemed like the high pitched noise only affected Pumpkaboos. Tears ran down Luna's face. We had to leave our Pumpkaboos behind. She managed to save one of her Pumpkaboos by forcing it back into her Pokeball. I screamed for Pidgeot to break through the ceiling. We escaped safely besides a few scrapes. Many other people had the same idea. Some trainers even released Rhyhorns to break down walls. I saw Valerie, Fiona and Jordan escape on their legendary birds as well. They tried to help neutralize all of the Pumpkaboos. Luna and I flew back home in terror. Luna was bawling. Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos were probably killing hundreds of Pokemon to save the people inside. But it was hopeless, anyone who was trapped inside probably died.
When we reached home. I carried Luna in to wash all of her cuts. As I went over all her wounds with a clean towel and warm water, I apologized to Luna. "I'm so sorry that you had to go through that, I promised I wouldn't let you get hurt." She blinked away her tears and shook her head. "Don't be sorry, things happen that are bad sometimes. You can't just hold onto the sad things." I marveled at her maturity. I noticed she was staring at my metal interior. She smiled as I bandaged her injuries. Once I finished, she offered to teach me "Moonlight Serenity" She took out two reed flutes and then the Pokeball containing the rogue Pumpkaboo. I backed away as she pulled it out. I yelled "Hell no!". But she insisted. She put the Pokeball on a pillow and began the sweet song. The notes seemed to melt like chocolate in the air. I followed along, mimicking her movements and following her advice. She released the Pumpkaboo. At first, it seemed agitated, but as Luna and I played the song. It calmed down and returned to normal. Since then, I learned to play the reed flute for Luna and her Phantump Pumpkaboo. They slept happily. With every song, I was becoming more human. I even realized that my cuts bled more. When I'm taking care of Luna, I feel a pulse within me. Veins and arteries tangle in the fabric of my being. Luna was vexing me. She saw the metal within me, so she changed it to bone. I don't know how. But she is creating a new me. I don't even remember who I was before Shane-San. But I think, I like this better
