(May 1925) POV Vogel

That good for nothing Empress was ruining my plans if those assassins had actually killed her like I paid them to do 10 years ago I would be master the Europe by now. Instead my plan shave only partly worked. Yes the war I wanted is going as planned but now the republic got suspicious of my contact and has him under watch and further more the entire imperial military hates me and now they and the public love that child ruler. 

I must win power now before it is to late and she comes for me. 

"Sir you look unwell."

My loyal secretary Fraulien Kathleen von Schimel  looked at me with concerned look that took me out of my thoughts and I felt my heart soften and my body physically relax knowing she at least was still loyal. 

"Yes I am fine I'm just concerned that soon I may be arrested or executed."

"But sir you still control the senate and the local governments. The military can't continue the war if the ministry of the economy refuses to give them money and resources. "

"You are correct in theory. But the Empress may accuse them of refusing to serve the fatherland and sack them if they do so. Remember all ministries and committees are formed to serve the people and the people vote them in. So if the empress shows them not upholding their oath she may sack them and the people won't object." 

"I see your point sir." 

Me and my secretary fell into silence as we both contemplate dour futures. Our fate was now controlled by that girl and she could very well charge through that door and say your under arrest for high treason. 

Walking over to my file cabinet I began to look through recent reports and Intel regarding where me and my government stood in opinion with the people and the numbers did not look good. 

Only 48% of the population wanted us to stay the rest wanted us out. We had to turn those numbers around by 1927 or else I would be out of office  and full control would most likely go to that child and I refused to let her win. My anger was interrupted by the arrival of my deputy chancellor Who entered with a salute.

"Sir I wanted to tell you that I have good news." He says with a grin forming on hid face.

"Please do tell."

"I managed to reorganize the Lightning guard."

The Lightning guard was the party's old paramilitary group and was used to help guard our old rallies and my speeches. I had to lower their numbers though  because the emperor became concerned with their activities and that was the last straw for me.

 It was on that day I realized if my dreams of a glorious empire with me at it's helm were to be achieved I must remove the old order and so my plan began and the emperor and his family were killed. However I learned that the assassins were only partially successful they did kill most of the imperial family but one little girl managed to evade them. She now sits on the throne and I'm back to square one. 

I already knew what he was going to say before he said it and I would give it my full backing.

"Chancellor Felix are you proposing we use the lightning guard to springboard our way to power."

"Sir." He says with a wicked grin." That is exactly what I am proposing." 

"Good then in 3 days we march."

"TO BERUN AND THE IMPERIAL PALACE I WILL SEE HER BLONDE HEAD ON MY WALL."
