Chapter One
Chapter One
I laid on my bed, pillow over my face as the sunshine seeped through the window.
"Elsa, your mother requests your presence in the dining hall."
I groaned. Today was not the day that I was willing to have breakfast with my mother. Any other day, I would be ecstatic that mother had enough free time to sit down and eat with me, but today I needed my beauty sleep. I was meeting my friend (or crush, should I say), Jonas, after breakfast time. Jonas is from Archenland, and I met him when I was young, out exploring near the Dancing Lawn, and I ran into him by chance. Or fate....
Maugrim continued to call me from the other side of the door.
"Ten more minutes, Maugrim!"
"Your mother doesn't have time to waste ten minutes, Elsa!"
"Five?"
"Elsa!"
I groaned again, removing the pillow from my face and kicking the blankets off of myself and my bed, not that I cared. Mother's servants would make my bed for me in no time. By the time that I return to my room after breakfast, my bed will be perfectly made, and a multitude of dresses will be laid out upon it for me to choose from for the day.
*******
I entered the dining hall to see my mother sitting at one end of the long table and another chair placed at the other end. Believe it or not, this was probably the only quality time I would have with my mother for the next two weeks. Oh, yes, thirty-minute non-conversational bliss, am I right? Wrong. I barely ever see my mother now that she's gotten word of traitors, and is constantly scouting the entire kingdom day after day just to find them. She tells me she believes they're working with the Calormenes, but I don't even believe that anyone would ever want to betray Narnia.
I sat down in the chair across from my mother. Today we were having my favorite breakfast: Belgian waffles with bacon and eggs.
As usual, breakfast was quiet. It always was, whether my mother was eating with me or not. You would think that mother would be at least the slightest bit interested in my life, but she never even acts like it. Not even before the 'traitors' started popping up all over Narnia.
I finished my breakfast, said goodbye to my mother, and headed upstairs to my room at lightning speed. As I had predicted, my bed was made, and at least ten different dresses were laying on it.
I put on an ivory-colored off-the-shoulder dress and brushed my unruly curls so that they would at least look decent before I left. I headed downstairs and took my white cloak off of the coat rack and threw it over my shoulders. I pulled up the hood to shield my head from the snow and walked out the door in the direction of the Dancing Lawn.
Chapter one, DONE!!!! XD
