162. Bionics And Protonite Tech

Julianne Hunter walked downstairs to the basement.

Julianne: How's the sparring going?

To understand what was about to happen, one would have to understand a teenager's normal reaction to an adult, especially a not very well known one, while said teen is preoccupied with something he or she considers important. It is even more pronounced in teens that are doing something social.

Even to Max, her own son, it was a bit awkward. Not because he hated his mother, but rather...

Max: (nonchalantly) Pretty good.

Julianne: (thinking: Awwwww... Look at my little man. He wants his independence. He's so cute.)

As a result of all that, as well as their experiences with Max's mother, only one person was truly glad to see Julianne.

Rose: Yeah, it's going great Mrs Hunter.

Julianne: That's great to hear. Hope I didn't miss it all.

Rose: Oh, right now, me and Tiff are gonna spar next.

Julianne: Oh, really...

Rose: Yeah....

And then the pressure sank in. The sudden fear of losing in front of this kind and generous woman.

Julianne: Well, I can't wait.

Tiffany: Hmph.

Tiffany looked towards a suddenly doubtful Rose. She instantly knew what was wrong.

As for Julianne, she noticed the peppered field.

Julianne: What happened here?

Max smirked cockily.

Max: Well...

And Max briefly elaborated on what had happened. That being, his fight with Luke.

Max: Anyway... Ken said I'd won, so...

Julianne: Oh my gosh, honey. I'm so proud of you.

She rushed over to her son and gave him a hug, and Max, naturally....

Max: (flusteredly and blushingly) Moooooooooom!

Julianne: (giggles) Ok, ok.

She let him go.

Julianne: I'll have to watch that battle myself.

At that point, Ken was about to interject, offering her a video file in his hard drive, but then he considered the structure of her sentence.

Ken: I'm sorry, did you say.... watch?

Julianne: Oh... of course. Everything and anything that happens in this room is recorded.

The sudden realisation was like a new upbringing of anxiety for all three of them.

They were all being recorded.

And to think... they were so close to finally letting their guards down around her.

Rose: Really?

Julianne: Absolutely.

Ken looked around the lab. Not a single camera lens. Not even one.

Ken: (thinking: Protonite tech. It really is something else.)

Tiffany: I... see....

Julianne: Oh... right... Silly me. I should have mentioned that from the start.

She tapped another wall button to summon yet another computer.

Julianne: If you feel like it, I can delete it all...... Except my Maxie's moments.

Max: (blushing) Moooooom!

His mother simply giggled, and Luke and Ken simply smirked, while Rose giggled as well.

Luke, Tiffany and Ken all exchanged glances. Just where were her cameras anyway? But more than that, what should they say?

Julianne pulled up her video files.

Julianne: There they are.

She then took a few steps back from the device.

Julianne: (to Ken) Well?

Ken: Hmm?

Julianne: I mean, I do want to see how your bionics react with protonite tech.

It only took Ken a second to get it.

Ken: Alright then.

It was the perfect opportunity to look into their files and delete the files for sure. But also, it was the perfect opportunity to gain information on the Hunter household, as well as on protonite tech.

He would be lying if he said he also hadn't become curious about that as well.

Julianne Hunter waited in what seemed to be an almost childlike ecstasy as a blue light exited Ken's eye.

Julianne: Fascinating....

The blue light interacted with and almost immediately interacted with the computer, creating two similar screens, and, in a graphical form, a bunch of files could be seen being sent into a trash can icon.

And then, just like that, Ken closed his eyes,  and the blue light disappeared.

Ken: It's done.

And before anything could be said.

Julianne: So, how was it?

She said it so excitably, one would think she was a child asking about her favourite doll. Eagerly waiting to hear anything and anything from him.

Ken opened hs eyes.

Ken: It was.....

All the other teens had had their interest piqued. What was he about to say?

Ken: ..... Ok. I guess.
