They all got up in shock and slowly and morosely walked into the house. She closed the door behind them and led them to the living room.

Julianne: Have a seat, all of you.

They all nervously sat down on the couches in the living room as she left to go to the kitchen.

She, shortly after, came back with a piping hot cup of coffee and sat down in one of the couches.

Julianne sat down and slowly took a sip of coffee while they all quietly waited while nervously exchanging glances.

Suddenly, her voice sharply sounded.

Julianne: So, what did you do to my son?

They all remained quiet while she continued to sip her coffee.

Julianne: What happened to my son?

Tiffany's lips shook, and she clenched her fist. The room was otherwise quiet.

Julianne: Perhaps I should make this easier. Why don't you all introduce yourselves?

They sadly exchanged glances.

Julianne: Well?

Tiffany: Tiffany Chang.

Luke: Luke Parks.

Ken: Kenneth Stone.

Rose: Rose Wright.

Julianne: I see. So I take it you all go to the same high school as my son?

Tiffany: Y... yes ma'am.

Julianne: I see.

She took another long sip of her coffee.

Julianne: So, what happened to my son?

Tiffany wanted to start again but found it to be too difficult.

Tiffany: I... I'm the....

Another moment passed with Tiffany's lips quivering. The whole team watched her, waiting for her to speak.

Julianne: I....

As Julianne started, Tiffany suddenly interrupted her.

Tiffany: It was my fault!

Tears rolled down Tiffany's cheeks.

Rose: Tiff!

Tiffany: I'm the one who put us in a risky situation, and I'm the reason he needed to save us.

She winced as she spoke, greatly shocking them all, especially Julianne.

Tiffany: I'm the one who messed up. So, please...

Luke: We.... are the ones who messed up. It was our failure that led to that. We're sorry.

Rose: Yes. All of us.

Rose looked empathetically at Tiffany.

Ken: (forlorningly) Yeah. Had we been stronger, perhaps this current predicament would have been avoided.

Julianne was absolutely shocked. She did not expect those kinds of answers. And so she continued to sip her coffee as she thought.

Julianne: Why don't you all explain to me what had happened between you and my son?

They all exchanged fearful glances. Explaining what happened to Max was one thing. It was a whole other thing entirely to explain dark crystals to her.

As the silence continued, suddenly, Rose used her mind link on them all.

Rose: Guys, what do we do! What do we do!

Tiffany: Rose?

Ken: Huh, you put the mind link up.

Luke: Hmph.

Rose: Guys, what do we do. We can't tell her about the dark crystals, can we?

Ken: True, however, it would seem that Max's mom has eyes shaped like knives. Honestly, Max is simply full of surprises.

Luke: Yeah, never would have thought. Hey, Ken, does she have powers, too?

Ken: I don't know. I have not scanned her. Maybe Rose should see if she can read her mind.

Rose: But... but... I don't wanna know what she's thinking.

Tiffany: You guys! We shouldn't be doing this! It's disrespectful to have a conversation like this when ....

Julianne: Excuse me.

They flinched. They hadn't been paying attention, but Max's mom had just put down her cup of coffee. She was watching them all intently.

Julianne: Rose, was it?

Rose: Y... yes?

Julianne: If I'm not mistaken, you have the power to lift things with your mind?

Rose: Y... yes...

Julianne: I see. Would you just so happen.... to have the ability to link minds psychically?

Rose: Wh... what!

Rose quickly entered panic mode and froze, closing off the mind link.

Rose: I... I....

She closed her mouth and squealed again.

Tiffany: How... how did you know?

Julianne: Hmph. A hunch. That being said, I did ask you all a question, didn't I? What happened to my son?

They all froze in silence for a moment, wondering about how they would explain it.

Julianne sighed.

The lights of the house suddenly went off, leaving the entire room dark.

Luke: What the...

Rose: EEEEP!

Tiffany: Ugh...

Ken: Well, that is interesting.

Then suddenly, two bright blue eyes appeared in front of them in the place in which Julianne Hunter was seated, much to their horror.

Julianne: .... what happened to my son?
