(Wait...I'm reading that correct right? I've past 2,000 reads!?!? WAT!?!?!? Um...I'm kinda speechless here...damn uh...Thanks guys! Anyways REALLY sorry this is so late but I've been really busy these past few days with my dad coming back from Saudi Arabia and my family members graduating and finals and...ugh...well...NOW school is officially over for Summer. Yes! Now I've got more time for typin' some RWBY, so my sincerest apologies for being so late with this.)

(Volume 2) Part 9:"Unity Through Diversity"

You enter the amphitheater with Ruby and you are concerned due to the fact that she has Zwei in her backpack...she places the backpack with the other luggage and you and Ruby run over to the rest of Team RWBY and wave to Team JNPR as they are behind your team as Glynda approaches the mic and speaks.

Glynda:"Professor Ozpin would like to share a few words before we begin." She walks away from the mic as Ozpin begins to speak.

Ozpin:"Today we stand together, united. Mistral. Atlas. Vacuo. Vale. The four Kingdoms of Remnant. On this day, nearly eighty years ago, the largest war in recorded history came to an end. It was a war of ignorance, of greed, and of oppression. A war that was about much more than where borders fell or who traded with whom, but about the very idea of individualism itself. We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. And as you are well aware, that was something many could not stand for. As a result, those who opposed this tyranny began naming their children after one of the core aspects of art itself: color. It was their way to demonstrate that not only would they refuse to tolerate this oppression, but neither were the generations to come. And it was a trend that is held to this very day. We encourage individuality, expressionism, and unity. Through diversity. As I have said, today we stand together, united. But this bond cannot exist without effort. Which is why today, while the rest of the world celebrates peace, Huntsmen and Huntresses will work to uphold it. As first year students, you will be tasked with shadowing a professional Huntsman or Huntress on a mission. Some of you may be taken out of the Kingdom for several days. Others may work within the walls for the rest of the week. But no matter which path you choose, remember to be safe, remember your training, and remember to do your very best." As Ozpin steps away...all you can think is Damn that was a good speech... as you and the entire room applause and you are shocked by the weight of his words. Unity through diversity definitely stuck out to you as you look at your team to see that you are all truly very diverse from one another...which is another reason why you cherish all of them.

Ruby: "...This is perfect! All we have to do is shadow a Huntsman working in the southeast!"

Yang: "Yeah! We'll follow them around by day and give them the slip by night!" You...feel something's flawed about that planned

You:"...Wait, if this is a fully trained Huntsman than I feel like 'giving them the slip' will be much easier said than done..."

Weiss:"Well as always we'll figure something out. Let's check 'Search and Destroy'." You shrug at this plan but it's the best one you've all got. YOu approach a hologram screen with the rest of Team RWBY and see there are plenty of missions to choose from ranging from Village Security to Junior Detectives...you kinda want to be Junior Detective but duty calls sadly. You look at the middle of the board to see a Search and Destroy mission in the Southeast of Vale. Neat.

Ruby:"Here we go!" She points at the board "Quadrant 5 needs Grimm cleared out."

Blake:"Well it's in the Southeast."

Yang:"Sounds perfect!" As Ruby goes to type in the team name, you notice Raiden seems a bit off at the mention of Quadrant 5...You tap his shoulder and look at him as blue flames flow through your eye.

You(Telepathically):"Something up?"

Raiden(Telepathically):"Yeah...we're just getting close to where my past started to get really rough so...I'll be fine, it just kind of...bringing back bad memories."

You(Telepathically):"Like back in the facility/ factory thingy?"

Raiden(Telepathically):"Exactly." You nod and turn back to Ruby...and you see that the screen has a notification on it, 'Mission Unavailable to First-Year Students'...great.

Weiss:"Wonderful." Weiss says in an unamused tone.

Blake:"Any other ideas?" you shrug and Ruby turns to you all.

Ruby:"We mail ourselves there." You smile at her imaginative mind.

You:"Ruby, honey, I don't think that we can mail ourselves to a Grimm-infested area...but then again your dad just mailed us a dog so who knows..." You begin to stroke at your invisible beard, taking this into consideration...You begin to think that lack of sleep is starting to affect you.

Ozpin:"Well that's one option..." Ozpin who seemingly appeared out of nowhere approaches you with his mug...you wonder what's in that mug...sure it maybe coffee but maybe it's unicorn blood or spiders....Unicorn Spider blood...the world may never know...you feel like the lack of sleep from yesterday's events is messing with your brain...Anyways, Ozpin continues talking "Unfortunately, we determined that the concentration of Grimm was too extreme for first-year students. It seems that particular region is rather popular." Uh-oh is all you can think... "In fact, I have the sneaking suspicion that you six will make your way there no matter which job you choose."....All of Team RWBY except for Ruby is glaring at both you and Ruby as Ruby is scratching the back of her head, trying not to be embarrassed.....fun.

Ruby/You:"Whatever makes you say that?"You shrug, glancing at Ruby...You both saying things in synchronization wasn't helping at all.

Ozpin:"I'm still curious how you all found yourself at the docks last semester. I'm interested to know how you really learned about a 'hideout' in the southeast. And I certainly wonder why witnesses reported seeing robots, rose petals, and blue particles in a dance club some time ago."

Ruby:"Uhhhhmmmm...well..." Ruby tries to thin of an excuse and you try to help Ruby

You:"PURE COINCIDENCE!" You burst out as Everyone except Ozpin looks at you with a death glare...yeah, your lack of sleep isn't helping...not to mention you haven't had your fifty plates of breakfast yet...

Ozpin:"Oh I'm sure. Well I doubt I'll ever find the exact answers I'm looking for. So how about this: instead of waiting for you all to break the rules, why don't we just bend them?" Ozpin then selects a few things on his scroll and the hologram screen makes a noise as the Search and Destroy selection is selected. Seems like you and your team have been officially signed up for it...Yes! You look around at your teammates to see that all of them are happy and you look at Ozpin.

Ruby:"We won't let you down. Thank you, professor." You think back to how great Ozpin has been as a Headmaster...unlike others, he understands what people try to hide and instead of trying to force the information out he simply trusts their judgement...you inspire to be like him one day.

Ozpin:"Do not thank me for this. Teamwork and persistence have carried you far. But you must understand, the things that await you beyond the protection of the Kingdom will not care. Stay close to your Huntsman at all times, and do exactly as he says. He will be leading you on this mission, and he can have you sent back to Beacon, if he finds your skills to be unsatisfactory. Good luck." You also forgot how intimidating and bad-ass he can be...that's a plus?

Later

As you all walk outside to head towards your airship you are all still dwelling on the last words that Ozpin told you...seems like your team is feeling the pressure now.

Yang: "Well, That wasn't exactly uplifting." Raiden nods as he shrugs a little...you notice that he's being quiet...

Blake:"But it's the truth."

You:"Yeah,we're gonna have to push ourselves for this mission."

Ruby:"Yeah, It's gonna to be tough, but I know we can do it!" You smile as you give her a thumbs up...you see a student running full speed towards a landing airship.

Random Student:"Hey! Team CFVY is back!" You immediately turn to the ship and see that a bunch of Beacon students begin to gather around to witness the return of Team CFVY...It's been quite a while since they were first deployed on the mission...you hope they were fine. You and the rest of Team RWBY walk up to Velvet as she gets off.

You:"Good to see your smile again, miss Velvet." ...You wonder why you're acting all professional around her...Doesn't matter as Velvet smiles at you

Velvet:"And it is nice to see you once again, (F)."

Blake: "Velvet? Are you okay?" It's been a while since you've talked to Velvet, luckily it seems that she's doing much better

Velvet: "I'm fine. I had Yatsuhashi to look out for me." she points her thumb back at Yatsuhashi as he walks away from the ship...all you can think of how tall he is...you envy his tall genes...

Weiss: "Your mission was supposed to end a week ago! What happened?"

Velvet:"Nothing happened. It was just... there were just so many..." You and the rest of Team RWBY exchange worried glances at each other... "Oh, but don't worry. You first-years are just shadowing Huntsmen, so you should be fine."

Yang: "Right..." Yang says with no enthusiasm...

Velvet: "I should go. Be safe, okay?" She waves lightly as she begins to walk back and you wave back.

Ruby:"We can do this. We've never backed down before, and we're not going to start now." You nod at her

Blake: "Right."

Ruby: "Besides, it won't only be us out there! We'll be fighting alongside a genuine Huntsman!"

You:"Yeah it'll be great to see someone with years of experience, to both guide us, and teach us."

Yang: "Yeah!"

You look back to see...you REALLY hoped this wasn't the person you thought this was...but...it's...Doctor Oobleck?!

Oobleck: "Why, hello girls! Who's ready to fight for their lives!?" You and the rest of Team RWBY are all shocked...

Weiss:"Professor Oobleck?"

Oobleck:"Yes I'm afraid those bags won't be necessary boys and girls." He continues to walk back and forth with his hands behind his back while speaking rapidly "Seeing how you opted to shadow a Huntsman on what is now essentially a reconnaissance mission. I can assure you we will be establishing a single base of operations. Rather we will be traversing several miles of hazardous wasteland, and making camp in any inhabitable locations we may stumble upon. I've packed all of our essentials myself, provided the air course and readied the airship. And!" He points his finger in the air and zooms over to Weiss towering over her "It's Dr. Oobleck. I didn't earn a PhD for FUN thank you very much!" He zooms backwards

Weiss:"Uhhh..." She glances at all of you confused, you shrug as everyone else is just as confused.

Oobleck:"Come now children, according to my schedule we are already 3 minutes behind...schedule!" He zooms into the ship with incredible speed...you need a moment to process all of that information.

Ruby:"Well alright then looks like we're gonna save the world with, Professor Oo-bleck okay yeah when you say it out loud it sounds worse." You notice that all of the team is looking down disappointed.

Nora:"Save the world!?!?" You all jump a little as you all turn back to see Team JNPR approaching you all "You're going on world-saving missions without us!?!?" Nora seems crushed by this... "I'm hurt and sad! Maybe a little hungry? Though that last one's not your fault though...Ren!" She stares angrily at Ren who simply crosses his arms and looks the other way...you ship them.

Jaune:"Sounds exciting, where are ya going?"

Ruby:"Oh just outside the kingdom."

Nora:"Oh! So are we!"

You:"In the Southeast quadrant?"

Nora:"Graaah! Why do you guys get the most cool, dangerous, and exciting places!"

Pyrrha:"Ren and Nora wanted to shadow a sheriff in a nearby village."

Ren:"We set out tomorrow." Sun and Neptune pop out of nowhere

Neptune:"Then you can party with us tonight. We're shadowing a crime specialist. All inner-city detective stuff. We get Junior badges."...THAT'S THE MISSION YOU WANTED TO DO! The mention of the junior badges excite you and Jaune

Jaune/You:"Ooohhooohh!" Ruby bites your finger for no reason

You:"Ow, okay we really need to get your brain checked..."

Sun:"We normally go to the city with you guys, which means stuff's always exploding and junk."...You find that to be very true. "So we thought this might be a better way to check out the kingdom when it's, y'know, normal?"

Ruby:"Well-"

Oobleck(In the distance):"Four minutes children!" Oobleck exited from the ship before zooming back in. Everyone gives you all a nervous smile

Ruby:"Well, uh, wish us luck!" She says with a thumbs up...you've got a bad feeling about this.

You and the rest of your team walk away and head into the airship. You sit on the edge of the floor with your legs hanging out of the airship as you begin your travel to Quadrant 5.

Yang:"I guess I never thought of you as much of a fighter." Yang says to Oobleck...though it's kind of hard to hear her over the roar of the engines

Oobleck:"I admit, I fancy myself as more of an, intellectual but I can assure you, as a huntsman, I have been through my fair share of tussles." Ruby apparently doesn't understand that word...

Ruby:"Like the mushroom?" Ruby is scratching her head

Blake:"Those are truffles."

Ruby:"Like the sprout?"

Yang:"Those are brussels." You notice that many of the buildings that you are passing by are...destroyed.

Raiden:"Tussels are past struggles or battles."

Ruby:"Oohhhh...then why didn't you just say that." You face palm, you love this girl... you just want to sometimes grab her, wrap her in a blanket to become a burrito then place that burrito in front of a dictionary.

Oobleck:"Besides, given my expertise in the field of history, as well as my dabblings in the art of archaeological surveys, our dear headmaster saw it fit to assign me to this particular assignment."

Weiss:"What does history have to do with this." You notice the buildings everywhere are abandoned and destroyed...you can see a giant mountain coming up...this must be the place you are landing at

Oobleck:"My, what a preposterous question you silly girl! Why, history is the very backbone of our very society! And the liver! And the kidneys too if I were to wager."

Weiss:"And that means...?"

Oobleck:"The Southeast quadrant outside of Vale is home to wild forests and deep caves. But, it is also the locations to one of the kingdom's greatest failures."

Ruby:"Mountain Glenn." Oh, so she knows that BUT SHE DOESN'T KNOW A SIMPLE WORD LIKE TUSS- Okay you know what, nevermind.

Yang:"That's right, it was an expansion of Vale, but in the end it was overrun by Grimm and fenced off from the rest of the city." Plenty of pain happened there...seems like more pain may come from it if you don't put a stop to Torchwick and his goons...

Oobleck:"Correct! And now it stands abandoned, as a dark reminder."

Blake:"And a likely place for a hideout."

Oobleck:"Precisely." He readjusts his glasses and you notice the airship starting to slow down. You stand up and Conjure your Marasuma as everyone equips (Conjures in Raiden's case) their weapon. The airship lowers and you all jump off of the airship with your weapons at the ready...except for Oobleck who just takes another sip of his seemingly infinite coffee...You look around to see collapsed buildings, abandoned food joints, and tumbleweeds flying here and there...the city is devoid of life...well, not ALL life...You can't see any Grimm but one look around and you can tell the city's crawling with them...

Oobleck:"Children, you still may be students, but as of this moment your first mission as a Huntsman has begun. From this point forward you need to do exactly as I say. Do you understand?" You all nod at him and she looks at Ruby "Ruby!" Ruby looks surprised as she drops her Crescent Rose. "I thought I told you to leave all your bags at school."

Ruby:"But, uh you hadn't told us to listen to yet...so I didn't." You face palm a bit and look to Oobleck who has his finger to his chin, thinking

Oobleck:"She's not wrong..." Wait...that actually worked?! "Very well Ruby leave your bag here, we can pick it up upon our return." You look at Ruby to see that she's gotten visibly worried...She begins to speak looking nervous and her head hanging low

Ruby:"But,I-whaa-"

Oobleck:"Young lady, what in the world could you possibly have in that bag that could be so important for you to bring it-" All of a sudden Zwei pops out of the bag...you somehow completely forgotten about him...also think it's very convenient timing that he pokes his adorable furry face out now... Oobleck is staring at Zwei...now that you look around, everyone is looking at Zwei...Raiden looks at you squinting his eyes a little giving you a 'you knew about this' look as you didn't look surprised at this at all.

Ruby(whispering to Zwei):"Get back in the bag..." Zwei barks

Oobleck:"We're here to investigate an abandoned urban jungle teeming with death and hostility and you bring...a dog...?" Oobleck leans forward. Ruby is beginning to panic.

Ruby:"I-uhhh!"

Oobleck:"Genius!" everyone looks at Ruby surprised as Oobleck zooms off and zooms back and grabs Zwei out of Ruby's bag at high speed which knocks Ruby over. You help her up as you see Oobleck then raises the dog up and spins around in a circle "Canines are historically known for their perceptive nose and heightened sense of sound. Making them excellent companions for hunts such as ours!" Zwei barks and you all look back at Ruby

Ruby:"I'm a genius!" You smile while slightly shaking your head. Her adorableness knows no bounds...well then there's Zwei...who is loving life at the moment it seems

Blake:"So what are your orders, doctor?" Oobleck stops spinning with Zwei and looks at you six.

Oobleck:"Ah! Yes! Straight to the chase, I like it!" Oobleck lets go of Zwei and he falls to the ground with a slight whimper that cracks your soul a little on the inside and it runs over to you and you pick it up as it pants and licks you "As you have been informed the Southeast area has been marked as a recent hotspot for Grimm activity. Now there are several possible explanations to this behavior. One of which being, Grimm." ...You think that seemed a little obvious...and you look at the others a tad bit confused.

Ruby:"Uhh,what?" Ruby finally speaking as to what everyone was thinking

Oobleck:"Grimm, a creature of Grimm approximately 100 yards from us at this very moment."

Yang:"What!?"You all pivot and draw your weapons, causing you to accidentally drop Zwei in the process, it breaks your heart. You see a single beowolf wandering around the city. You all are about to charge at it when Oobleck says

Oobleck:"Stop." You all stop and turn at him

Weiss:"What?"

Oobleck:"There are a number of reasons why Grimm would congregate in this particular area. The most likely of which would be their attraction to negativity. Sadness, envy, loneliness, hatred, all qualities that are likely held by our hidden group harboring ill intent"

Ruby:"So...what now?"

Oobleck:"We wait, we track, if the specimen leads us to its pack, that pack may subsequently lead us to our prey."

You:"Sounds like a smart idea but...how long will we have to track it till it meets up with the rest of its pack?"

Oobleck:"It's uncertain,hours, days, weeks, why lone Grimm have been known to stand isolated from the pack for months- and there's the whole pack." All of a sudden a lot more Grimm appeared, seemingly out of no where...huh, convenient.

Weiss:"What?"

Oobleck:"And now they've seen us."

Weiss:"What!?"

Oobleck(Yelling):"AND NOW THEY'VE SEEN US!" He yells as you all ready your weapons as the Grimm begin to charge at the seven of you.

Ruby:"I take it tracking is out of the question?"

Oobleck:"An accurate assumption, yes."

Yang:"What's the plan then?" Oobleck looks at you all before looking at the charging Beowolves.

Oobleck:"Show me what you're capable of..." You all reload, ready, and aim your weapons and you let your Blue flames flow. Ruby slams the Blade of her Crescent Rose down into the ground

Ruby:"Cover your ears, Zwei!" You all run towards the Grimm with full speed as you notice Yang crush a Beowolf's head with a deadly punch as her Ember Celica fires before running again as Beowolves are chasing after her. You look in front of you as 12 Beowolves are rushing towards you, you throw your trident high into the air as you Conjure an electric staff that you use in case something ever happened to your Marasuma. You dash at a Beowolf and using your aura you swipe the Beowolf off of it's feet as it flies backwards into four other Beowolves and they all fly backwards as they are crushed into nearby building. You let go of the staff as it dissipates with blue particles, you dodge under an incoming Beowolf who swiped its claw at you and you use your aura to grab its claw and using your momentum you slam it into the ground with both arms before spinning the Beowolf around as it knocks back two Beowolves that were in close proximity before you let go of the Beowolf to slam it into three more Beowolves as they fly backwards and dissolve. You counted only eleven that you have killed... You turn back to see an Alpha Beowolf and as it lifts its claw to slice at you all of a sudden your Marasuma from earlier plunges into the Alpha's neck, it screeches and you jump on top of the Beowolf before grabbing the Marasuma, jumping down while still holding onto it, and using your weight and momentum you lift the Alpha off of its feet and slam it into the ground, the surrounding ground shatters and flies into the air. You warp over to another group of Beowolves and you can see in the distance that more are coming...You feel warmth going down into your arm and you see your arm surrounded with flames...You don't feel like destroying your entire arm so you concentrate all of your power. You see the flames begin to move towards your pointer finger and thumb. You aim your thumb at both the group of Beowolves and the upcoming Grimm. You flick your finger and instantly a GIGANTIC shockwave comes out of your fingers and the resulting shockwave violently blows back all of the Grimm in the area as every surrounding window that's still somewhat attached are completely shattered and the ground beneath you collapses...You look at your finger to see it...destroyed, it's completely black and smoke coming out of it...but as you look at the destruction you made...there's no fire but there is insane heat coming from the area that you just used your new attack on...what's going on? All of team RWBY is staring at you, as they're finished with their Grimm. Ruby looks back at Oobleck with a smug face

Ruby:"Heh, piece of cake."

Oobleck:"Do not celebrate yet, for I am certain this is the first bout of many." You all continue walking.

After many...MANY battles of just Team RWBY defeating MANY Grimm. Luckily you haven't had to use your destructive new found powers...that you still have absolutely no clue as to how they work...but that being said your eye is starting to bleed due to extended use of it...damn Leviathan mystical powers that you barely know how to use...This entire time Oobleck has been asking the rest of Team RWBY personal questions...the main one being, why did they join? As you plunge your Marasuma into a Ursa that popped out of a building you notice Oobleck reading a book about wildlife

Oobleck:"Well, (F), coming from an orphan boy and being homeless, why infatuate with helping others that didn't want to help you?" You look at him with your eye still burning blue with blood coming out of it.

You:"Well, it's so I can help those that were like me...I mean I was very lucky to have Raiden, and I know there are kids dying out there who don't have the protection of the walls of Vale. And if I can help them then I will, my life was always learning how to stay alive the next day, it wasn't truly living. That's why I became a hunter, to help those who can't help themselves."

Oobleck:"Hmm...interesting." Oobleck stops reading his book and walks off.

Hours later

You have stopped walking to rest a bit and it's a good thing too...your left eye is done for...it's in unimaginable pain, you keep it close to try to lessen the pain, luckily no one has really noticed...not even...Raiden? Raiden is starting to act very strange, refusing to talk to Oobleck when he asked why he became a Hunter... And you notice it's starting to become night time. You smile as you see Ruby holding a...full turkey on the bottom spike of her Crescent Rose who is dangling it over Zwei as he barks trying to grab it. Oobleck walks over to her and she notices it and quickly puts her Crescent Rose away.

Ruby:"Sorry! uhhh, are we ready to keep going?"

Oobleck:"No, I believe that will have to do for today. It's going to be dark soon." Oobleck then throws his bag at the direction of Yang before Raiden grabs the bag out of the air before smiling at Yang...still smooth as ever you guess... "You five, set up camp in that building. Oh and please do make sure there are no more of those creatures. Your leader and I are going to go secure the perimeter, come Ruby!" You watch them as they walk off and...all of a sudden...you feel everything go numb as you hold your head. You notice that everyone is looking at you, their mouths are moving but you can't hear anything coming from them...You feel everything fade as your sight goes black.
