(Volume 2) Part 5:An Upcoming Dance

The following week after the events of Roman, Neo and everything else you have gotten your arm into a cast as your arm suffered third degree burns and your fist suffered several fractures...you wonder how are you gonna be able to dance with Ruby this weekend wait...you haven't even asked her to the dance...and you can't dance either way...great job. You are also get very socially awkward...which is weird considering that you're already in a relationship with her so...how have you managed this relationship for this long you wonder...You're sitting with Team RWBY in the sparring arena where Pyrrha...is having a one vs. four match against Team CRDL...you think to yourself that maybe they should've made this more of a fair fight...by adding eight more people to fight against Pyrrha...then maybe they'd stand a chance. You remember the time when Glynda assigned you to a spar against her that one day...let's just say you know why she's called the best...

You:"Get em, Pyrrha!" You yell, before getting a glare from Glynda...you wonder why does everyone of the opposite gender at this school is so terrifying...maybe because you're socially awkward...and that all the women here having weapons that can disintegrate you...you look at Cardin as you can tell he is a little nervous about this fight but that worry is overcome by his cockiness..you've forgotten how much you hate Cardin...now that you think about it, you feel like you haven't seen much of Cardin after the events at Forever Fall with Jaune showing his true power. It's not that you MISS having the jerk around but it is odd how they are never seen around usually...As the match begins Pyrrha spends no time to let Team CRDL breathe as she dashes straight into all four of them. You can't really focus on the fight since you notice that Blake seems...off, she seems to be drifting off into sleep a little.

You:"Hey, Blake are you alri-?" You poke her "bow" and immediately regret it as she snaps awake and slaps you out of instinct...hard, luckily Glynda didn't hear it as she's focusing on the fight between Pyrrha, you hold your cheek as it stings and all of Team RWBY is staring at her in shock as Blake has a sudden realization of what she did

Blake:"O-oh my God, I'm sorry (F)...I'm just...really on edge. Don't mess with my...bow" You give a weak thumbs up with your bad arm...which you instantly regret and now there's pain in both your arm and your cheek...

You:"N-no problem...damn did that hurt though...remind me to never make any of you guys mad..." You focus back on the fight ignoring the pain in your cheek...and the worried Ruby asking if you were okay, you respond with yeah but mostly pay attention to the fight as...Cardin seems to be pissed off now as he recklessly throws his weapon back, hitting one of his teammates and then slamming his weapon into the ground, causing a giant explosion trail leading towards Pyrrha, Pyrrha dodges it easily by jumping out of the way before dashing at Cardin and knocking him up into the air before hitting him with a flurry of attacks, You can't even recognize what's going on anymore as Pyrrha is throwing Cardin's body around before slamming him down, head first into the ground, causing the surrounding ground to break and fly into the air. Before finishing Cardin off by kicking him into the air and falls to the ground again. The lights of the arena go on and Glynda steps onto the platform

Glynda:"And that's the end of the match." Cardin is on his hands and knees, holding his stomach in pain.

Cardin: Groans "Lucky shot. Ugh." he manages to say before collapsing on his side...still as naive as ever you say to yourself...

Glynda:"Well done miss Nikos, you should have no problem qualifying for the tournament."

Pyrrha:"Thank you professor."

Glynda:"Alright, now I know that's a tough act to follow but we have time for two more sparring match." She says while typing some things on her tablet. "Any volunteers?" You raise your hand...well your good hand and Glynda immediately notices your other arm. "Though I admire the enthusiasm (F), you are not fit for battle at the moment, once you are healed then you will be able to participate, now are there any other volunteers?" You lower your hand a bit bummed out but look to Blake who is starting to fall asleep again...Glynda sees this too "Miss Belladonna?" Blake snaps awake and you scoot away from her in fear of getting slapped again. "You've been rather docile the past few classes. Why don't you-"

Mercury:"I'll do it." You look behind you to see Mercury raising his hand...you feel off around him or his friend Emerald...though you don't know why, you've never seen them before...or maybe you have...your memory gets REALLY foggy when you think about them or the other members of their team...where HAVE you seen them...you can't...remember. You look to Glynda as she is readjusting her glasses while looking at Mercury

Glynda:"Mercury is it? Very well. Lets find you an opponent. Actually I wanna fight...her" He points to Pyrrha of all people.

Pyrrha:"Me?" she says in a bit of shock

Glynda:"I'm afraid miss Nikos just finished a match, I'd recommend you choose another partner."

Pyrrha:"No! It's fine. I'd be happy to oblige." She says with a small smile on her face, you feel like Pyrrha is just being a tiny bit too nice here...then again it didn't seem like that last fight took too much out of her.

As Mercury goes down to the arena, you can see Ruby getting excited and you are really starting to wonder WHERE have you seen him before... then immediately have that thought cut off as Mercury runs at Pyrrha and kicks her which Pyrrha blocks with her shield before slicing his other leg, knocking him down before immediately spin kicking back to his feet and doing backwards cartwheels to gain distance from Pyrrha. Pyrrha dashes as Mercury side kicks repeatedly as his boots fire, adding more power to his kicks at Pyrrha which she deflects with her shields and knocks Mercury back as he slides back with his shoes causes sparks to come from the ground.

Mercury:"Hm." He says with a "not bad" look on his face

Ruby:"Hey your friend's doing pretty good." Ruby says to Emerald smiling as Emerald nods and smiles back before turning back to the fight, you notice Emerald's expression change to one of happiness to one of annoyance...you frown at her in the corner of her eye...which you can't tell if she saw that or not but you focus back to the fight to see that Mercury has started running at her and axe kicks her which collides against her shield before spin kicking Pyrrha multiple times and Pyrrha evades by rolling out of the way and raises her shield as Mercury runs and jumps into the air giving multiple butterfly kicks and side kicking her shield and going to side kick her with his other leg before Pyrrha blacks it with her fist as her weapon is in the air. Pyrrha spins around trying to slice at Mercury but Mercury spin kicks Pyrrha's weapon out of her hand as it stabs into the ground. Mercury goes in for another spin kick but...misses as Pyrrha lifts her hand up and dodges back a little and stumbles onto his knees...He seems thrown off by it as...you notice him smile. Pyrrha goes to ram into him with her shield as Mercury jumps on to the shield and catapults himself off of it using his boots' fire power. As Pyrrha goes in to attack again Mercury looks at Glynda and says

Mercury:"I forfeit." Pyrrha is surprised and gasps as she stops her dash abruptly as she passes by Mercury and looks at him surprised.

Pyrrha:"You, don't even want to try?"

Mercury:"What's the point? You're a world renowned fighter, we're obviously leagues apart." He says while throwing his hands in the air. Pyrrha looks...unamused. Something's not right here you say to yourself

Glynda:"In that case, Pyrrha Nikos is the victor of the match, again." The screen showcasing their names show green over Pyrrha's name and red over Mercury's name "Next time you may want to think a little harder before choosing an opponent." Glynda also seems angered...which is something you don't see often...actually that's not true. she's like a librarian...with the power to kick your ass...life is fun, ain't it?

Mercury:"I'll be sure to do that." Mercury says while lifting a hand and walking out of the arena.

Glynda:"Now we do have time for one more match, as the match ended early and there are 20 minutes before class ends. Any volunteers?" You go to raise your hand but Ruby slaps it down.

Emerald:"I'll go."  You look back and see her raising her hand. "And I want to fight him." She points to...you look around but she...is pointing at you as she does...a very evil smile and winks at you...which throws you off and now that you look around, everyone seems to be thrown off, especially Ruby and Raiden.

Glynda:"...In (F)'s current state he is not allowed to participate in any sparring until he is completely healed."

You:"Um, miss Goodwitch? If I were an actual Hunter in the world and got injured I doubt any Grimm will stop attacking me because I was injured so, maybe you can make this one exception? I mean it'll be beneficial to my education, right? What good is a Hunter if he can't fight when he gets injured? I mean besides-" You start taking off your cast "My injury isn't even all that ba-" you're in absolute shock when you start to notice as you take off your cast that it's...completely healed? "...And by that it's...completely fine?" You take it off fully and look at it, opening and closing your hand slowly and moving it around to make sure you're not hallucinating...this seems to throw everyone off even more. "How on Remnant is my arm completely healed?"You say to yourself Glynda takes a moment to think this over before sighing

Glynda:"If you truly feel up to the challenge then I will not hold you back mister (F)." You nod at her then give a thumbs up to Emerald. You both go to the arena and you look to where Ruby is to see that she seems worried...

Your eye courses with it's blue flames as you Conjure your Marasuma and switch it into it's HF-Engine Blade mode and Emerald smiles as she Emerald swings around one of her Kusarigama's chains. She wastes absolutely no time as she swings one of the chains over her head and brings it down on your head. You phase out of the way and throw your Marasuma at her. She deflects it as it flies upwards and you warp directly to it and throw it down at her again. She jumps back before you warp down to your weapon and she fires at you repeatedly with her semi-auto mode. You have to phase shift through them and immediately warp to her before kick flipping her as you land on your feet.

She slides back with a small grin on her and she swings both of her Kusarigama's chains around her before dashing at you quickly and wrapping the chains around you. She doesn't do anything though as you struggle and warp out of the chains. After you warp you realize that she has thrown one of the chains at you, you dodge to the left but then realize that her other chain has gotten around your foot. Before you could react she pulls back and you fall to the ground, as you're on the ground you use this chance to grab the chain and swing it around using your feet and it causes Emerald to get slammed into the wall as she was holding onto it. She gets up and dusts herself off and you switch your Marasuma back into it's trident form and place a Fire Dust crystal into the Trident and slam the hilt into the ground causing a massive fire trail to head towards Emerald, she dodges out of the way and as she is distracted by the fire trail you warp to her and grab her arm and throw her over you and slam her into the ground, causing the ground to break and chunks of the arena fly upwards.

As she slowly gets up from the ground, you feel the same heat returning to your arm during the events of the Paladin and you see flames engulfing your arm, Emerald seems pleased. You build up your energy and explode very high into the air as particles form behind you due to your speed. You ready your arm as you are flying downwards and right before you can use your Flare Smash. Emerald speaks...

Emerald:"Yeah, sorry but I'm gonna forfeit this one." You just barely have the time to move dodge to the left of her and miss her, but you instead can't stop and have to slam your fist into the ground and the entire arena shakes and breaks and...blue flames fills the cracks of the arena...that's new. You look at your arm to see...that it is completely black and charred again. But then you notice that blue flames are surrounding it still and are...healing your arm...that's VERY new.

You:"I'll uh...fix that." Glynda sighs

Glynda:"No need." She takes out her Riding crop and all of the flames are dowsed and the cracks and missing pieces are restored. As you let go of your Marasuma as it disappears with Blue particles forming around it, you notice that everyone looks at you surprised, even Emerald in fact.

Emerald:"Yeah, you see, if that had hit me I'd be in trouble, so...congrats (F)." Glynda seems annoyed. And you are confused.

Glynda: sighs "Fine, (F/L) is the winner of this match." She types into her tablet and the screen displaying your name and face shines green as Emerald's glows red.

You:"Uh...well...thanks? You fought good as well?" Emerald does a weak wave as she walks off and...your mind feels foggy...before you can really wonder why you hear the buzzer of the class ending and Glynda speaks, cutting off your train of thought...you're starting to feel like whenever something important happens that it gets conveniently cut off... You walk back up to the seats where Team RWBY are...all of them are looking at you oddly...well more specifically your left arm...It's completely healed now.

Glynda:"That is all for today. And remember the dance is this weekend, but you all have your first mission on Monday. I will not accept any excuses." You and the rest of Team RWBY exit the classroom and you see Emerald by the door...she seems to staring at you in curiosity...there's something about her and Mercury that you can't trust. As you exit the building you notice that Blake (Who is reading a book) is slowly lagging behind.

You:"Blake, you good?"...Blake doesn't even respond, you notice that Sun is running up behind her and taps her shoulder, stopping her

Sun:"Hey Blake! You uh, doing okay?"

Blake:"I'm fine." Blake did not seem fine.

Sun: Clears throat "So I hear there's a dance going on this weekend, sounds pretty lame. Ah, sounds pretty lame but, you and me I'm thinking not AS lame, huh?" ...You ship it.

You:"I ship it." Both Sun and Blake look at you confused before Blake looks at Sun confused

Blake:"What?" You just realized that she has very dark bags under her eyes.

Sun:"The dance, this weekend, you wanna go or what?"

Blake:"I don't have time for a stupid dance. I thought you of all people would get that." Blake storms off and you look at Sun to see he seems crushed by that... You approach him and...TRY to place use him as an arm rest, which doesn't work to well considering your small size...you want to get taller...anyways you awkwardly use him as an arm rest and he looks at you confused

Sun:"What are you doing?"

You(Whispering):"You like her don't you?" Sun goes...red? You didn't think he could ever lose his cool.

Sun:"What!?" He steps away from you as you lose your balance and fall over. You get up quickly and dust yourself off.

You:"No worries dude, Blake..seems...kinda interested in you...I think, reading that girl is so difficult at times, you think she's being funny one second and the next she's trying to run away from the cops because she's secretly a very skilled Cat burglar but no one wants to admit because that'd be racist..."

Sun:"Oddly specific..."

You:"Anyways, just let us handle her...mood situation and we'll get you two to go to that dance, no problem."

Sun:"You'd do that?"

You:"What are friends for, right?" He smiles and gives you a thumbs up

Sun:"Thanks, man." You walk away from him and see all of Team RWBY (Excluding Blake) looking at you.

Raiden:"What was that about?"

You:"Oh, nothing...just that we need to get those two to go to the dance together."

Raiden:"Speaking of which...Yang, do you want to go with me?"

Yang:"Pssh, duh? Who else would I go with?" she kisses him on the cheek and they continue walking and Ruby follows along...Weiss stays back and slides over to you

Weiss:"So...you gonna ask Ruby out or?"

You:"...Why do you ask?"

Weiss:"Because I know how much of an idiot you can be when it comes to romance."

You:"Okay I'm not THAT bad." Weiss looks at you blankly

Weiss:"...Remember the Forever Fall perfume you gave her?"

You:"WE DON'T SPEAK OF THAT! IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT I FORGOT GRIMM WERE ATTRACTED TO THE SMELL!"

Weiss:"Listen, you know that I'm not exactly the most...romantic individual of the group." You laugh. "But I think you should try to make the night of the dance special for her."

You:"...I'll try...wait, why are you getting involved with this? I never expected you to try to HELP us."

Weiss:"Because everyone on this team is a good person, and all of you deserve the best, including you and Ruby. Oh and we need to talk about Blake, we're getting her to that dance whether she likes it or not" She walks away and...you can't help but smile, she's grown quite a bit from her selfish past when school started.

Later in Team RWBY's Dorm

As you are in the room with all of Team RWBY you are sitting with Ruby and Weiss on the Weiss's bunk with Blake, Yang, and Raiden on Yang's bunk...You're all looking at Blake...she seems tired and angry...well more than usual you should say.

Blake:"What?"

Ruby:"We want you to go to the dance."

Blake:"That's ridiculous."

You:"Well not to sound rude but you're becoming very hostile and on edge."

Yang:"What he means is that we're worried about you. This investigation is starting to mess with your head."

Weiss:"You can't eat, you hardly sleep, and to be honest, your grades have been suffering."

Raiden:"Don't forget that you're becoming more angry and unpredictable, like with that little incident with (F) back at class."

Blake:"I said I was sorry to (F), which I really am (F), but do you honestly think I care about grades? People's lives are at stake."

Yang:"We know and we're all still trying to figure out what Torchwick is up to."

Ruby:"Thanks to you and Sun, we know they're operating somewhere Southeast Vale."

Raiden:"Mountain Glenn to be specific, And thanks to evidence left behind at Torchwick's abandoned facility, we know that many White Fang and Torchwick's goons are going to be gathering around Southeast Vale next week." You look at Raiden confused...you don't remember gathering any evidence...other than figuring out that the location is in Mountain Glenn...

Weiss:"And the Schnee company record singled out Vale as the primary target for dust robberies over the last few months."

Yang:"Don't forget about their missing military tech too."

Blake:"But there are still unanswered questions."

Ruby:"Blake you won't be able to find anything if you can't even keep your eyes open."

Yang:"All we're asking is for you to take it easy for one day."

Raiden:"I mean I was part of Torchwick's gang as much as you were once apart of the White Fang and you don't see me losing sanity over it."

Weiss:"Not to mention, it will be fun. Yang and I will make sure of it."

Yang:"Yeah! We're gonna be planning the whole event." She says while hopping a little on the bed.

Blake:"Excuse me?"

Weiss:"Team CFVY's away mission lasted longer than expected."

Yang:"So Weiss and I were asked to pick up where they left off. And now we can make sure you have a perfect night."

Weiss:"And once it's all over we'll return to our search, rested and ready."

Ruby:"So what do you think?" You all look at her and wait in anticipation.

Blake:"I think this is a colossal waste of time." You feel disappointed as Blake gets up and opens the door "I'll be in the library." She exits and closes the door behind her

Yang: Sighs "Great." You lay back on the bed, exhausted. Ruby lays her head on your shoulder

You:"...You know...why does it seem some big important thing happens to this team every few days or more? Like I feel like we should have our own show..."

Raiden:"Pssh, who would watch a show about attractive teenagers wielding huge bad-ass weapons as they learn how to protect a magical world filled with deadly creatures..." Everyone goes quiet.

Weiss:"Pssh, that sounds idiotic."

Yang:"Yeah no one would watch that." Ruby for no reason in particular bites your shoulder.

You:"Ow, Okay, I think you may need to get your brain checked." She laughs and you kiss her on the forehead. You were JUST about to ask her to the dance before you get interrupted by a knock on the door. Weiss walks to the door and opens it to see...Jaune holding a guitar, playing it. You all are curious and look at the door.

Jaune(Singing):"Weeeiiisssss." He sings while strumming a guitar. He stops and winks at her...Weiss automatically slams the door. knock knock knock "Oh come on." knock knock knock You see Weiss face palming "Open the door...I promise not to sing." Weiss opens the door "I liiiieeeeddd!!!" Jaune sings as he strums his guitar You and Ruby try to hold in your laughter. "♪Weiss Schnee, would you accompany me, to the daaaannnncceeee oooonnnn........Suuunnndddaaay?"

Weiss:"Are you done?" You feel like this isn't going to end well

Jaune:"Um...yes?"

Weiss:"No." She slams the door and crosses her arms...you knew this was gonna happen but damn...Ice Queen sure is cold. She notices that all of you are staring at her "What?"

Yang:"And that is why they call you the Ice Queen." Ruby realizes she's not on the bed anymore and falls over. You pick her up and she does a defensive karate move for a second.

Weiss:"All my life boys have only cared about the perks of my last name. Besides I already have a date in mind."

You:"Is it Neptune?"

Weiss:"Wh-what!? I-I! I don't need to answer that!" You broke her, congrats.

You:"Well I guess I'll talk to Jaune about this later..."

Ruby:"Well date or no date, none of this will matter if we can't get Blake to go."

You sigh...this is gonna be an interesting dance alright...
