(Volume 1) Part 11: The Nightmares/Defenders of the World

Ruby's POV

I wake up to see (F) still asleep...he's so cute when sleeping...and his massive bedhead makes him cuter somehow I look behind him to see Weiss, Blake, Yang, and Raiden all poking their heads up, looking at us...I feel my face blushing.

Ruby:"Uh...h-hey guys..." (F) is still asleep.

Yang:"Hooowwww cute!!!" She says while taking a picture of us on her scroll "I'ma send this to dad."

Ruby:"N-no no no no no no no no no!!!!" I try to grab the scroll from her hand but she pulls it away and holds me back with her hand

Yang:"Don't worry little sis, it'll be our little secret...he didn't do anything to you, right!?" Yang says sternly

Ruby:"N-no it wasn't like that at all! Ugh...look he was having a really bad nightmare and all I did was try to help him."

Blake:"By sleeping in his bed?"

Ruby:"IT WAS THE ONLY THING I COULD THINK OF!" I yell and I see (F) slowly open his eyes I squeal and he sits up and rubs his eyes and runs one of his hands through his crazy bedhead hair

Raiden:"Morning bro."

You(Sluggish):"Mornin' Rai-..." he first looks to the rest of team RWBY "Uh...why are all of you watching me sleep?" they all point to me...he slowly turns to me, he jumps back a little and suddenly turns red, as if he didn't see me last night...

Your POV

You(In mind):"HOLY CRAP BASKETS THAT WASN'T A DREAM!?" You try forming words in your mouth but it turns into stuttering...you aren't good with this whole romance thing... "I- uh h-hey Ruby." You are burning red with embarrassment and you can see she's also red...you couldn't help but think how cute she looks in her pajamas...

You:"Y-you didn't...see me doing anything...w-weird last night did you?" she looks at you confused and all of Team RWBY also looks at you weirdly...

Ruby:"...I mean I saw you were having a really bad nightmare...you woke up with your Semblance activated and everything and you..." she stops..."I what?" you asked. and her face flushes red. "S-said that you-" Before she has a chance to finish Weiss interrupts

Weiss:"Wait...class starts in 8 minutes!" You scramble out of the covers of your bed and end up falling off of the bed, all of team RWBY looks down at you.

Ruby:"You ok, (F)!?" You give her a thumbs up...you then realize that you're going to have almost no time to change...You conjure your Uniform clothes and stutter

You:"Um I have like no time here so everyone PLEASE look away." All except Raiden blush a little and turn and face the wall. You change insanely fast but then hear a whistle from Yang...only to hear Raiden cover her mouth. You finish changing into your uniform."All right done um...you can look now" Other than your Super Saiyan like hair which you know won't be able to go down without showering, you look fine. You see that Ruby has also changed into her Uniform...how she managed to do it so quickly lingers in your mind a bit.

Yang:"Pssh, Nice boxers by the way." You hear Raiden snicker and Ruby yell at Yang

Ruby:"YANG!"

Blake:"Uh it's 8:54 so we better go now." We all nod and burst through the door

A few weeks later

You look up to the spar occurring between Jaune and Cardin...You really hated that guy..his discrimination to Faunus and simple barbaric nature made you hold a special hate in that guy...which is weird since you usually don't like holding grudges and hating on people you don't know, hell you don't HATE your father, but you are disappointed, hate was never really in your blood. Well...accept for only one other person...

As the battle continues, you try to remember about...that night but...you don't remember much of it. All you remember is seeing...the Cloaked Man as his eye was flowing with Dark Purple fire...he was standing over the corpses of Weiss, Blake, and Yang. You remember trying to Conjure your Marasuma but it wouldn't work even though your Blue Flames were flowing. You jumped at the Cloaked Man with such rage only to not be able to hit him at all. You couldn't move as he stepped away from you...your mother appears and the Crooked Man takes out a Black crooked and shattered spear and...slits her throat...You wanted to yell but nothing came out. She falls to the ground and her body disintegrates at your feet. You fall to your knees as tears start falling from your eyes...

You look up and see Raiden and Ruby...standing side by side. The Cloaked Man stretches his hand out and the spear then turns it into an axe. He hacks Raiden in the chest and you want to reach out and save him but you can't move at all...your stuck witnessing his death...as he collapses and Particles flow up from his body...and he vanishes as the particles fade...You look at Ruby...you're terrified. You can barely think, you look at her with tears stained as she looks at you and says...'I love you...'. Your eyes widen as everything goes silent...as the Cloaked Man spear...goes through Ruby's heart...she collapses to the ground.you can feel yourself move again and dash to her and hold her in your arms.

She smiles softly at you as blood escapes from her mouth. She then starts gasping...little, small hiccups of breath...desperately trying to get air...you hold her in your arms as you wanted to yell, kick, scream, shout, cry...but all you can do is watch...she looks at you...as her Silver eyes close...and she falls limp and you hold her in her arms...before she disintegrates slowly in your arms. Everything goes dark as you collapse to your hands and knees and you sob...the Cloaked Man stares at you in silence. You can't...breathe. You're heaving and want to throw up but...you can't...you want to yell out to someone...anyone to help...But nobody came.

After that you remember waking up...and seeing Ruby...though you thought that it was just another dream...but you were so revealed either way...After that...you don't really know...your mind just shut off, the stress that happened messed with your mind big time...You look at Ruby, Weiss, Yang, and Raiden as they're all watching the spar, Blake isn't here oddly but still..."As Chronicle I will NEVER allow that to happen" You say to yourself... "I swear on my life".

You hear a buzzer go off and see that the fight is finished...with Cardin hanging over Jaune. You see Glynda Goodwitch approach the front

Glynda:"Cardin, That's enough. Students as you can see, Mr Arc's Aura has now dropped into the red. In a tournament style duel, this would indicate Jaune is no longer fit for battle and the official may call the match." she looks to Jaune. "Mister Arc, it's been weeks now please try to refer to your scroll during combat, gauging your aura will help you to decide when it is appropriate to attack or move to a more...defensive strategy. We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now would we?"

Cardin:"Speak for yourself..." he says while he lifts his Mace and starts walking away...You start to go to walk up to him to knock some sense into him but you feel an arm grab you, you look to see Ruby where those beautiful Silver eyes of hers which you have come to adore, staring at you.

You:"Ugh, fine...can I at least break his legs." she smiles smugly at me

Ruby:"Hmmm....no."

You:"Awww..." You noticed that Ruby has been with you much more often ever since that night...(In mind)"Well maybe now one day I'll be able to ask her out but..well...lets think about that when that day actually comes..."

Glynda:"Remember students, the Vytal Festival is only a few months away, it won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing." Ruby, Weiss, and Yang look excited...meanwhile you and Raiden look slightly bummed due to the whole 'Won't be able to participate' thing Ozpin told you. "Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale." The bell rings and now comes your favorite time of the day...LUNCH TIME! You look to Jaune...You look over to Pyrrha who's next to you

You:"...How is Jaune doing, Pyrrha?"

Pyrrha:"He's a great leader...just still working on his fighting abilities."

You:"I see, well, maybe you could try to help with that, your a great fighter and he does seem fond of you." Pyrrha nods at you

Pyrrha:"That sounds like an excellent idea (F), thank you for that advice."

You nod to her then smile and rush off to the cafeteria with the rest of team RWBY following behind

At the cafeteria

As you were inhaling 21 plates of food with Team RWBY sitting across from Team JNPR, Ruby -sitting next to you- looks at you still astonished you can eat THAT much. Before looking at Jaune in thought, You notice Pyrrha is doing the same as Jaune...isn't eating. You glance at Nora who is telling a story about her adventures with Ren.

Nora:"So...there we were...in the middle of the night..." Yang looks hooked onto her story while Raiden is trying to nap on the table but Yang keeps waking him up by squeezing his arm whenever Nora says something.

Ren:"It was day." Ren interrupts

Nora:"We were surrounded by Ursai!"

Ren:"They were Beowolves."

Nora:"Dozens of them!" she yells while slamming the table waking up Raiden fully

Ren:"Two of 'em." You kept thinking in your mind that they would be the perfect couple for each other.

Nora:"But they were no match and in the end Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs." she says while sitting down

Ren:"Ugh...she's been having this reoccurring dream for nearly a month now..."

Raiden:"I mean at least it ain't Night terrors like (F) gets..." You glare at him because you didn't want anyone outside of Team RWBY to know that the nightmares kept repeating...though you never actually told them WHAT it was about...it kinda took a toll on your sleeping and education...until Ruby started sleeping in your bed to help you sleep...and it did.

Pyrrha:"Jaune...are you okay?" Pyrrha asks Jaune which stops your food massacre and you look at him.

Jaune:"Uh...Oh, yeah,why?"

Ruby:"It's just that you seem a little...not okay."

You:"...Is it because of Cardin?" everyone stops talking and looks at Jaune...

Jaune:"W-what? N-no, guys, I'm fine...seriously, look..." he fails at faking a smile...

You hear Cardin and his team at another table...making fun of some poor Faunus...You see Jaune clench his fist...You've just about had enough of Cardin and start to get up,your eye slightly starting to catch fire. You stop before feeling Ruby's hand hold your arm.

Pyrrha:"Jaune, Cardin's been picking on you since the first week of school..."

Jaune:"Who? Cardin Winchester? Nah...he just like to mess around, you know? Practical jokes."

Ruby:"He's a bully."

You:scoffs "That's putting it lightly..." you glare at Team CRDL

Jaune:"Oh please...Name one time he's 'bullied' me..."

You:"Knocked your books out of your hand, extended your shield through a doorway making you stuck aaaannndddd he launched you OFF OF CAMPUS USING A ROCKET-PROPELLED LOCKER..."

Jaune:"I didn't land far from the school..."

Pyrrha:"Jaune, you do know if you need help you can just ask..."

Nora:"OH! WE'LL BREAK HIS LEGS!"

You:"GREAT IDEA!"

Jaune:"Guys, it's fine, besides, it's not like he's only a jerk to me; he's a jerk to everybody..."

???:"OWW, that hurts!" You look to see Cardin grabbing the Faunus's ear, which pushes you past your limit

???:"Please stop..." Team CRDL is mocking the poor Faunus...Ruby sees your glaring and shakes her head slightly

You:"One. Second..." You get up from the table abruptly and everyone stares at you as your eye ignites with Blue Flames as you march off to their table.

Cardin:"I told you they were re-" You grab Cardin's wrist and crush it to make Cardin release his grip on the Faunus's ear.

Cardin:"GAH! The hell!?" Cardin's team all circle around you. as you let go of his wrist

Cardin:"Oh, you are so gonna pay for that you little $&*!" Cardin launches himself at you, you dodge out of the way and look at him

Cardin continues to try to hit you but you dodge repeatedly.

You:"What gives you the right..."

Cardin:"What?"

You:"What gives you the right to just walk up to some girl and pick on her..."

Cardin"Pssh she's a Faunus, a filthy animal." You laugh a little as you get closer to him

You:"Since WHEN." You gut punched him and use your Aura to power up your punch. He flies up "DID YOU." You elbow him down smashing him into the table, breaking it. "DECIDE WHO IS MORE IMPORTANT IN THIS WORLD!" You slam your foot down onto his chest and Conjure your Marasuma in its Trident form and aim it at his neck.

You:"We're supposed to be the defenders of the people...THAT INCLUDES FAUNUS AND IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE, WHAT RACE YOU ARE OR WHAT SPECIES YOU ARE...IT DOES NOT DETERMINE YOU ARE HIGHER THAN SOMEONE ELSE...Defenders of the people...ALL of the people, because if we're not going to be there for them...who will. You let go of your Marasuma as it dissolves into Blue Particles. You look at the rest of CRDL

You:"Anyone else?" you look at them to see them terrified. "Good." you smile and look down at Cardin who's in a angered and terrified state. "Treat her or anyone like that again and I'll beat your ass again, and I won't go easy on you next time." You take your foot off of his chest and approach the Faunus girl.

You:"Hi, my name is (F/L). It's a pleasure to meet you miss..." you wait for her to say her name

???:"O-Oh my name's Velvet..."

You:"A lovely name Miss Velvet. If he ever gives you any trouble just tell me, m'kay?"

Velvet:"O-okay..." Your blue flames fade from your eye and that's when you realize that all of the cafeteria is staring at you...a bit awkward.

You walk back to your table and sit down smiling. Everyone is staring at you surprised, Blake seems particularly surprised

You"...What?" After a long pause Blake finally speaks

Blake:"W-why would you do that for a Faunus?"

You:"Because it doesn't matter what they are, if someone's in trouble I will help, no matter the consequence to myself. Not to mention I think that being a Faunus must be bad-ass." Blake smiles at you and you notice your Bow twitches again.

Nora:"Weeeelll it wasn't breaking his legs but IT WAS STILL EPIC!"

Pyrrha:"Well, I guess if you hadn't done anything then Cardin would still be going around thinking that he's better than anyone...thank you (F)."

You:"It was my pleasure. Trust me." You pound your fists together, mimicking Yang's signature move.

Yang:"Seems like you've been taught well."

Raiden:"Nah, since he was young he was always into Mercy and kindness and helping others, heh you should've seen him trying to help in 'Negotiations' back in Menagerie which basically consisted of him giving food to all of the kid Faunus in the neighborhood."

You:"Hey I was 5 at the time ok!?"

Raiden:"You've done questionable stuff..."

You:"Oh yeah! Like what?!"

Raiden:"You somehow 'accidentally' made cookies and milk for Santa..." (Eh...this happened to me when I was 7 actually, I wanted to put out cookies and milk buuut my family always had a tradition where we did it together...I didn't listen that year so when they saw it I panicked and said I "accidentally" did it...yeah...almost 16 now and they still won't let me forget that)

You:"I...yeah..." Ruby bursts out laughing

Blake"...You grew up in Menagerie?"

Raiden:"Yeah our dad and mom moved there and raised us there." Blake goes quiet...

Blake:"Oh..." She looks down, looking lost in thought

You look at Jaune and see that he's walking away from the table...

You:"Jaune?"

Jaune:"Yeah (F)?"

You:"When I was in Menagerie I was bullied a lot by the Faunus kids...most of them said I deserved it, a way to pay for the crimes against Humanity...I didn't fight back because I truly believed I was guilty...As much as I want to treat everyone with kindness...that isn't how our world works sadly...we have to be willing to fight for the people we care about...You aren't guilty in this situation Jaune, Your friends are here to support you, so don't shove us out when times are rough. We only want to help..."Jaune goes silent for a bit

Jaune:"Thanks (F)." Jaune walks away

You look at Ruby to see that she's smiling at you before she leans her head against you. You smile and continue eating.

(Somehow managed to make a 5 minute episode into all dis...yay? It's 2:32 am jeez I gotta stop doing this so late ._.)
