Part Six: Spearhead to Gunner
Gunner faintly remembered a chloroform rag being pressed over her face and her handcuffs being unlocked. Sirens were sounding everywhere that irked Gunner. She felt someone carrying her and throwing her in the trunk of a van, that was where she was knocked out cold.
Gunner was startled awake by the van door opening and the blinding sunlight hitting her directly in her eyes. It was raining as well, Gunner loved it when it was raining and the sun was out. She had assumed she was in that van for hours driving to some unknown location.
Gunner looked at the person who was driving and Zero stood there, dried blood was caked around a wound near his eyebrow but other than that Zero escaped the station unscathed.
"Wasn't surprised you'd turn yourself in, if you wanted to stop you could have just said so I would've understood," Zero chuckled. "I guess you don't really know me, huh?"
Gunner was relieved, and it was true she really didn't know Zero that well. "Where are we?" Gunner asked. She saw a muddy trail and thick foliage up ahead. She knew that a few miles from here was a military camp but she didn't know the correlation.
"Don't worry our package is en route and once we collect em' we can leave, I have a feeling you'll like Canada it's beautiful there. But first, we're gonna have to have your hair bleached, maybe get you a couple of tattoos since you so stupidly turned yourself in."
Gunner smacked Zero on the arm playfully. Up ahead there was the sound of boots squishing in mud, Gunner could see a man was running toward them.
"Is that the "package" you were talking about?" Gunner asked.
Zero didn't reply and the man running toward them stopped to stare at Zero in disbelief. Gunner was incredibly confused but Zero seemed to know the guy since he also had on a smile too big for his face.
"Zero?!" the guy shouted.
"Hey! Haven't seen you in forever!" Zero answered. The guy ran into Zero and gave him a tight hug.
He noticed Gunner standing behind Zero and nodded at her. "Hey, aren't you that bank robber that robbed 45 banks?"
"That would be me." Gunner answered. She didn't want to be forever known as 'that bank robber.'
Gunner extended a hand toward him. "I'm Gunner, and you are?"
"Spearhead."
fin.
