Chapter 14

The room is big. I can't see the end of it and it appears to have many floors. It's like those old laser tag arenas that we used to hang out in back at home.

The pathways are lighted and there are obstacles and twists and turns everywhere. Stefan elbows me in the ribs before pointing forward. There's that girl from the Canteen. The one who could make a soldier piss themselves. She's standing beside a boy who has brown hair and brown eyes and idly reminds me of a puppy. He looks innocent but I have a feeling he's anything but.

Before Aurora was established, long before World War Three, there was this famous author named Suzanne Collins, who wrote this amazing book trilogy called the hunger games. Needless to say, it went on to be one of the greatest classics of all time, next to the Harry Potter series and the books by Cassandra Clare, but reading that book series definitely taught me that most people aren't as trustworthy as they seem. So when I look at "puppy-boy" I think about how he's probably not as harmless as he seems.

"You are to battle in teams against your opponents. Use your abilities. You fight until someone collapses."

The robotic voice says and then a strange horn sounds. Stefan grabs me by the arm, pulling me behind him until I start running.

"What's going on?"

"Shh. They're our opponents. do you know how to use your abilities?"

"No shit Sherlock."

"Great. Because you're going to have to use them soon." He says, ignoring my attempt at sarcasm.

"I can feel the atmosphere changing" He says looking around, "Both of them are definitely part, if not completely Statics. So, we have the upper hand here. Not to mention you're a kin so you are worth two other soldiers."

Just as he finishes his sentence, two bolts of lightning strike in front of us and our two opponents make their entrance.

"Ooh, someone's feeling grand today." I say, before outstretching my hands and lifting the both of them up off of the ground.

Stefan shoots jets of electricity-infused water at them and a canon sounds as the lights come on.

"Prisoner Team STEF-ASIA. Point one."
