Whenever Aurora closed her eyes to sleep,

BOOM!

A certain pair of blue eyes appeared behind her closed eyelids.

Aurora opened her eyes and groaned. She'd been trying to get the owner of those blue eyes out of her mind all day but failed miserably. Its like he was a huge tree rooted inside of her brain, refused to leave.

She buried her face into her pillow and groaned louder.

No one

Like literally no one

Had made Aurora's heart speed up like a Maserati before. Especially not a stranger at first sight.

She's drawn to him.

Just like a moth drawn to the flame. (who's singing? XD)

But why?

He's attractive, yes. But she had met hot guys and girls before, and none of them turned her insides into a butterfly farm like he did.

She's tossed and turned in her bed, finding it hard to fall asleep. A certain pair of blue eyes kept appearing every time she closed her eyes. She buried her face in her pillow and groaned, getting a little frustrated at herself.

Finally, she gave up. Reaching out to her bedside table, she grabbed her phone.

"Ah" Aurora dropped her phone and winced at the sudden bright light emitted by her phone.

She rubbed her eyes a little before picking up her phone again.

U up? I can't sleep.

She texted Renee and slumped against the headboard waiting for her reply.

Yup. Sup? Renee texted back a few minutes later.

Aurora silently thank the gods that Renee was awake.

Can I call? Dun feel like typing. Aurora texted back.

Almost instantly, her phone rang. The caller ID 'stupid potato' flashed across the screen. The corner of her mouth tugged up slightly at Renee's ugly contact photo. She slid her thumb across the screen to answer the call.

"Yes bitch," Renee spoke from the other end of the line in a bored tone.

"I can't sleeeeeeeep..."Aurora whined.

"Yes, you just texted me that, so what's up? " Renee asked.

"The sky."

"Haha what an ancient joke I forgot to laugh. No, seriously. What's keeping you up?" Renee asked again.

"Wellllllllllll... " Aurora said, dragging the 'l'. She's still contemplating whether to tell Renee the truth. She'll definitely freak out when she heard it.

"Mhmm please continue...." Renee said, her voice laced with impatience.

"So... Someone has been on my mind all day... " Aurora said slowly.

" Is it Theo?" Renee asked, getting a little excited.

"Wha-How did you know?" Aurora stuttered, her brows creased in confusion.

"Oh honey, your eyes were training on him all day girl. ALL DAY!" Renee exclaimed.

"Oh," Aurora was speechless. Her cheeks getting a little warm at the embarrassed revelation.

Am I that obvious? She thought to herself.

"Yes you were being VERY obvious," Renee said, her voice raising a little at the word 'very'.

"Opps didn't meant to said that out loud, " Aurora chuckled nervously.

" You know what? I also caught him starring at you, " Renee said, a smirked plastered on her face.

" Wha-Are you sure? Maybe he's just looking at another person that's in my direction. Maybe he's just spacing out. Or you are just hallucinating. Or-" Aurora started to ramble, her words flying out of her mouth faster than a bullet train.

"Bitch! Stop!" Renee whisper yelled, cutting off Aurora's rambling. "OMG your rambling is killing me."

Renee took a deep breath before continuing," Anywaysss I've been observing you two all day, and-"

"YOU'VE BEEN WHAT?!" Aurora exclaimed.

"LET ME FINISH!" Renee retorted.

She's sighed and continued, "So as I was saying, I've been observing you two all day, so I'm 100% sure he was staring at you." Renee stated confidently.

"Erm, evidence?" Aurora asked, doubting the new found information.

"Well first off, when he was looking at your way, you yawn and- " Renee stated.

"Oh god I must have looked like a seal," Aurora dragged her hand down her face and groaned.

"Yes, and he yawned too," Renee said, feeling proud of her 'investigation'.

Aurora blinked a few times, trying to relate the two things, "So......" she drawled, "How is that evidence?"

"Urgh, I have idiot friends," Renee complained.

"There's a thing called contagious yawning. Which is when you see someone yawns, you will yawn too. Haven't you heard of that before?"

"Nope," Aurora replied.

Renee sighed, "Whatever. Since I'm nice, I forgive your lack of knowledge."

"Wow thanks," Aurora deadpan.

"You're welcome." Renee giggled.

"Back to topic, it only happened once so it doesn't say anything right? " Aurora said.

" Nope, You're wrong gurly. It had happened 3 times."

"Oh god, "Aurora groaned.

Renee chuckled, enjoying her best friend's embarrassment," I think he likes you,"

"Pftt yea right," Aurora rolled her eyes.

"No, I'm serious! He had a smile whenever he's looking at you!" Renee exclaimed.

"Honey, I'm pretty sure you are hallucinating." Aurora said dismissively.

"Yea whatever makes you sleep at night," Renee deadpan.

"I think we should sleep," Renee yawned, "still got school tomorrow,"

"Yea," Aurora yawned too, "goodnight."

They bid each other goodnight and ended their conversation.

Aurora drifted into a deep slumber as soon as her head hit her pillow. But one name still echoed through her mind.

Theo Knight.

Aurora dragged her half awake body to join the stream of students heading towards the school gates. She tried to rub the sleep off her eyes with her fists and silently cursed Theo for her lack of sleep.

When she approached her locker, a dull ache bloomed across her chest.

Negativity.

For some reason, Aurora could detect other people's negative emotions. Whether it's anger, hate or sadness, she could sense them somehow. Its like she had a radar inside of her and the tightening of her chest is the indicator. She scanned the area, trying to pinpoint the source.

Then she spotted Aaron, staring at his locker with his shoulder slouched. His face displayed mixed emotions of sadness and anger. She crept up behind him and took a peek at whatever he was staring at.

'GO BACK TO CHINA LOSER'

Those five words were written in bold letters on a piece of paper, pasted on his locker door by a piece of tape. Those words suddenly turned into a viper and coiled around her heart.

"Hey, " Aurora placed a gentle hand on Aaron's shoulder, making him jumped slightly.

"Hey," Aaron hastily teared the paper off his locker door and balled it up.

"Pfft, I'm from Taiwan, idiots." Aaron laughed, trying to masked how much this bothered him but Aurora saw right through him.

"Hey, it's okay to feel upset you know?" she closed her hand loosely around his right fist that's holding the paper.

His knuckles had turned white from his tight grip. His eyes were casted down towards the floors, blinking away the tears that were threatening to spill. He took a deep breath to compose himself before looking back up at his friend

"Nah, I'm fine," he waved his hand dismissively.

"Let me walk you to class," Aurora offered, her brows creased with worried.

"No. I.... I wanna be alone," Aaron declined, his voice trembled slightly.

He grabbed his books and slammed his locker door shut. He left in a hurry, not wanting to crumble in the hallway.

Aurora sighed at Aaron's stubbornness. She wished he would talk to her instead of keeping it to himself.

Aaron was bullied a lot when he first arrived three years ago. The bullying lessened after Aurora and Renee included him into their little group.

Being the only asian kid in this small town is tough on Aaron especially when it's filled with closed minded people. Aurora could never understand why people couldn't accept someone just because of their skin colour.

She watched him until he was swallowed by the crowd of students. She blew out a sigh and dragged herself towards her locker, not willing to start another boring school day.

This whole time, they never once noticed a person lurking in the shadows, watching their encounter.

And that person's eyes were specifically glued on Aaron.
