Bonus chapter: Resurrection

(Velvet)

Burning buildings, blood curdling screams in the distance, and the occasional corpse scattered in the streets as the shattered moon illuminates the city. This is all that the remaining three members of team CFVY experience as they try to escape after the death of Velvet, one of their more shy teammates. Shot dead from behind by a nameless member of the White Fang. As Yatsuhashi carries their fallen friend, Coco leads the team down the dark streets of Vale.

Fighting off Grimm no longer their main priority, the small team just try to find a means of vacating the city. Possibly a bullhead or even a car that hasn't been torn to pieces with blood coating the inside. Even worse when there's a baby seat in the back.

After several minutes of walking with nothing happening, surprisingly, Coco decides to have her team rest for a moment. Spotting an abandoned dust shop, From Dust Till Dawn, she leads them over to try and bunker down for a moment. Maybe even restock on dust as well. Regardless, as a pack of Griffons fly over head, she signals her team to head to the store.

Following close behind, the blind telepathic known as Fox takes a moment to let his guard down. Just to wrap his head around, well, all of this. The attack on the Vytal Festival, White Fang and Grimm swarming the city... Velvet-

"Roar"

Oh, and that giant Grimm dragon just flying around, spawning more Grimm across the city. Fox is reminded of said beast as he hears it roaring in the distance. How in the hell is anyone going to be able to kill that?

Regardless, although blind, he uses his semblance to try and "look" at Velvet once again. Glancing over to Yatsuhashi, a tall and bulky aura of green, Fox glances down his arms and sees... something that isn't Velvet. Instead of her familiar aura, or nothing in general, he sees a grotesque amalgamation of black and gray in the shape of his dead friend. Some of it seeping out of the bullet wound in the chest. Its fingers twitch as the head slowly turns upward.

Panicking, Fox yells out for the first time in days to his large friend. Turns out he's not mute. Go figure.

Fox: YATSU!

The giant swordsman with the giant sword, man, quickly snaps his attention to his teammate. The sudden outburst from the usually quiet Fox catches Coco's attention as well. Noticing him "looking" at the corpse Yatsuhashi is holding, they witness her head slowly turn. Her head suddenly snaps all the way and just stares at him with pale eyes.

Completely caught off guard, with a slight bit of defecation, Yatsuhashi accidentally drops the now living corpse of Velvet. With a muffled thud, the faunus lies there motionless on her back for several seconds. Appendages twitching every so often. With a sickening snap, one of her arms quickly launch out and slams against the ground. In a grotesque motion, her upper torso twists around as her other arm is planted on the ground as well.

Velvet's hair, now fading from brown to white, falls over her face like a curtain as her rabbit ears remain standing out. The lower half of her body soon follows suit, both legs bending to allow the feet to gain traction. In a somewhat janky motion, she soon stands to her full height. Albeit with a slight slouch. Her face still shrouded by her now snow white hair.

She jolts forward a bit as a stream of crimson is spewed from her gullet and onto the ground. Gurgling is barely heard as the faunus tries to take in air past her fits of blood vomiting. After three or four mouth fulls of blood, it begins to turn from a healthy red to a disturbing black.

Her hands soon begin to form a bone like cover from the tips of her fingers to halfway up her forearms. The tips of each digit ending in a dangerously sharp point.

After finally puking out what might have been half of the blood in her body, Velvet takes in several deep disgusting breaths of air. An old habit the body is trying to keep up out of reflex.

Throughout that whole ordeal, Coco and the remainder of her team watch in absolute horror from the sickening display. Two of whom feeling somewhat nauseous from the blood vomit bit. Velvet, the center of attention from her transformation, now lifts her head up. Her hair now moving out of the way to reveal a bone like mask. Similar to what happened with her hands. What stands before the remaining members of team CFVY is a horrifying mockery of what was once the most gentle being in Beacon Academy.

She--it--just stands in place as it stares off into space. Coco, showing great concern for her thought-to-be-dead friend, slowly steps forward and reaches a hand out.

Coco: V... Velvet?

With speed that could have, should have, broken most people's necks, the corpse of Velvet snaps its head towards Coco's direction. The three taken aback by the janky motion. Somewhat unsure of pulling out their weapons on their friend.

Velvet just... stares at Coco. Not with joy, worry, or even sadness. But with malice, venom, animosity...

And hunger.

As Penny's sight and hearing finally return to her, she is met with what appears to be a somewhat crowded room filled with all sorts of machinery. A low humming emanating from all around.

???: Well, not really heart to heart. More like half assed power core to empty void of oblivion. But the concept still stands.

Incapable of movement, she hears a voice to her left that catches her attention. Suddenly, a tall figure in black walks into her vision. A fine crafted mask being the only thing that pops out from the rest of the design. Said mask peers down to Penny's synthetic green eyes. This tall, menacing, figure that is almost glaring at the android turns out to be you.

Glancing around, Penny sees that she appears to be hanging from some cables connected to her shoulders. The sight of several cords leading up to where her lower body should be can almost be seen. Her mouth opens and closes to form words that do not escape her.

You: Don't bother trying to talk. I didn't activate your voice so I don't have to hear you ask stupid questions. This is all you need to know, however...

You grab the broken android and rotate her around to face a table. Laying on it are what appear to be... her limbs. While some seem to look as though they were sliced in half, several others appear to have been finely removed with tools.

Sitting on the same table is a computer. A very old model to be exact. Protruding from the back are some of the same cords that are connected to Penny. You walk over to the computer and glance back at her. Hovering a hand over the keyboard.

You: I am going to be making a few... modifications to your personality. As well as fix up and improve your broken ass body. Now, the second half won't be that much of a problem. The first half, well, I'm not sure if you can feel pain. What, with you not being a real girl and all.

Penny suddenly remembers back to the Vytal Festival. When she was facing off against someone named Pyrrha. At the last few moments of the match, her wires were used against her. Maybe by accident. Over all, however; once those wires dug into her, she felt it. She felt her arm and abdomen be slice and torn apart as her very weapons were used against her. And before she shut down on the stadium...

She felt pain.

You: But, if you can, I'm sure it won't be a big deal.

You hit a few buttons on the keyboard. The sound of humming soon intensifies.

You: You probably won't remember it by tomorrow.

The cords suddenly emanate a red glow from the computer and quickly shoot across to Penny. The moment they reach her, she begins to convulse in pain as electricity dances across her form. Her eyes bulge out of her sockets in torment. Her soft green eyes shifting to a glowing crimson every so often. Her gaping maw trying its damndest to make a sound.

(Pyrrha)

Numbness. Physically, mentally, and even emotionally, Pyrrha can feel nothing in what might possibly be an ever expanding void of black.

What happened to her? She remembers a burning pain explode in her chest before... literally nothing. Wasn't there someone involved in that? Yes. Yes, there was. A woman in red. Amber eyes almost burning. And... that woman killed her.

Her name was Cinder. Cinder Fall. She did something before that, though. What did she do? Pyrrha had to do something before she fought her. What was it again? Protecting someone? No. Not just someone. Not just one person. She was given something. A responsibility. She was given something--or was going to be given something--that she had to be responsible for.

Pyrrha was hesitant of it. But Cinder wanted it. By force. A woman in a cage. She used to have that responsibility. Responsibility to keep something. She was dying, or unfit, to keep it anymore. So they wanted to give it to Pyrrha. What was it? It wasn't a weapon. Or something you could hold even. It wasn't knowledge. It barely mattered if she knew what it was. They just wanted her to have it.

They put her in the cage next to the woman. Hollow noises. Can barely hear anything. Except the humming. It made the cage feel smaller. Did she except the responsibility? Was she forced? Was it the right thing to do?

Why is it hard to remember any of this?

There was an attack. The woman in the cage died. Humming stopped. Strange light flew into the dark. Out came Cinder. Eyes burning. Started fighting. Did Pyrrha fight as well? Doesn't mattered. Cinder took the responsibility. That was a bad thing. Very bad. Had to fight back. Had to take back what was stolen.

Ended up on a tower. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Fighting started. Ticking stopped. Night sky glowing in fire can be seen now. Blade broken in fight. Had to keep fighting. Had to win. Had to stop Cinder. Had to... Didn't win. Pain in ankle. Struck by arrow. Can't get up. Not fast enough. About to die. Not ready. Doesn't matter. She says something to the failure. Promised a power. Take comfort. Could never have imagined. Said something back. Something that Pyrrha had to say before death.

"Do you believe in destiny?"

That's it... That was all Pyrrha could remember in this void. Responsibility. Failure. Death. Cinder... The last few moments of her life replay in her mind. Being struck down by an unworthy foe. Failing to stop them. Those thoughts running through her head filled her with... anger. Not only in Cinder, but in herself for losing to such a cretin. Whatever use she had for the responsibility, she didn't deserve it. Only the stinging taste of Pyrrha's blade.

As Pyrrha continues to exist in this void, thinking back on those thoughts, she soon feels something. Several things to be exact. She felt the same burning anger from before boil inside her. The more she thought of ways to win her fight, the more her anger rose because she didn't thought of them sooner. And as her anger boiled, she soon feels something else.

Pain.

Not the kind you feel from failure. But the kind you feel when you jump into a fire. This was physical pain. If she's dead, why can she feel anything?

Regardless, with anger and pain coursing throughout her body, Pyrrha wanted to do nothing more than scream.

And so she did.

Lying on a cold table, Pyrrha jolts awake as she sucks in a lung full of air and bellows out a guttural scream. Her screams echo across the metal walls as they reverberate throughout the room.

Anger subsiding for now, she now screams over the excruciating pain. Although both her eyes are open, she can only see out her left eye. The right just barely making out blurs. Looking down, she takes a good look at her body. At least, she thinks it's her body. A small blanket covers her torso. But what limbs she could find on her are what disturbed her.

Her right leg seems to be fine. Her left, however, seems to just be a stump to the knee. No signs of it being cut.

Left looks fine. Hurts though. But the right... The right arm is an extended thin black mass with fingers at the end. Almost twice as long as her normal arm.

Besides the constant pain from everything, Pyrrah screams at the horrid display her body is in.

*bamf*

The sound of a small explosion momentarily catches her attention before the sound of footsteps makes her look to the side. Walking towards her is what appears to be a man in black robes and a strange mask. Coming at her with a needle no less.

Fearing for her life, Pyrrha yanks at her restraints to free herself. This causes more pain, but she manages to free her abominable arm as the leather restraint snaps off. The appendage feeling extremely alien to her, all she can do is flail it around in self defense. All the while grunting in pain and fear.

The stranger easily grabs hold of the arm with ease as he jams the needle into her neck. This causes Pyrrha to gasp in shock. The sharp yet small prick in her neck is soon replaced with numbness... Pleasant numbness. The feeling soon travels throughout her body. Ridding her of the constant pain she has been feeling since she "woke up".

The contents of the needle soon have an effect on her mind as she suddenly feels drowsy. Still letting out a few whimpers of fear and confusion as her eyes soon grow heavy. The stranger gently sets her arm down on her chest as he places a hand on her head. Stroking her hair.

You: Shhhh. Don't fret, little one. I'll make it all better.

Pyrrha's whimpering soon turns into slow breathing as she draws closer and closer to slumber. The stranger's voice somehow calming her nerves. Than again, it could be the drugs coursing through her veins.

Never the less, she soon loses conscious as she falls to sleep. Unaware of her new found destiny. Forged by the very being that brought her back to life...

That's you, by the way.

----

Warlider: Wait. Explain it to me again.

Tollgerr: "sigh" Your group's task is to infiltrate enemy lines, discreetly ascertain intelligence on the whereabouts of something called Project "Vytal Remembrance", and return back here undetected.

Warlider:............ I'm-I'm sorry. You keep losing me at certain places.

p0zi0ner: Yeah, like discreetly and undetected.

Warlider: Exactly! What the hell even are those words?

Regret: I think the first one is a topping?

Tollgerr: I'm actually questioning the Pastor's judgment on this.
