Heaven is Real
Sky's POV
I am feeling much better. I haven't felt this strong in forever. Michael, again, hasn't left my side. I am so lucky to have him. I don't know what my world would've been like.
Michael is sitting next to me, struggling to keep the book he's reading steady. I can't believe a cop shot him while he was carrying me!
I look at the title: The Picture of Dorian Gray. I take the book from him. He looks at me and laughs.
"Hey, give that back!"
I scoot over and pat the space next to me.
"I see you having trouble with it. So come up here and read to me."
He smiles and lays next to me. I open the book on the page he was on. He kisses my cheek and continues reading.
" 'I suppose you have heard the news, Basil?' said Lord Henry that evening, as Hallward was shown into a private room at the Bristol where dinner had been laid for three.
'No, Henry,' answered the artist, giving his hat and coat to the bowing waiter. "
I hear the door open and look up. Doctor Davison walks in and smiles at us. He's caring my file. The news must be good.
"How are you feeling, Sky?"
"I'm feeling better than ever."
"Wonderful. We ran many tests and I'm happy to inform you that all your cancer is gone."
My eyes water. I can't believe it!
"Really?!" Michael exclaimed.
He nods and smiles. "Sky, all we have to do is check your vitals and you'll be able to go home."
I begin to cry happy tears. Michael sees me and hugs me. He's smiling so big.
"I love you, Michael!"
"I love you more, Sky."
Doctor Davison smiles and walks out of the room.
Later that day, Michael is helping me get dressed. I feel better, but my body has been laying down for so long, so I'm having trouble standing on my own.
While Michael helps me with my socks, he asks,
"Sky, did you see anything while you were....gone?"
I thought about it. "I don't remember, but I do remember being revived. After I slipped into my coma I had the craziest experience."
"What happened? "
Michael was looking up at me like a child. He was so intrigued. I run my hand through his hair and say,
"I saw my mother. We talked about old memories. She told me so much about Heaven. She told me that I'll be happy there. She asked me if I was ready to leave my world and join her. She was giving me a choice. Then, I heard you talking to me about your dream. I heard you singing to me and I knew right then, that I couldn't leave you. We aren't done yet, Michael. So I told her I'll stay here a while longer. She told me to hold on to you. She said we have a good thing going and to not let anything small get between us. I hugged her and saw her walk up bright white stairs to a room of light. Then I woke up."
Michael was blown away.
"Are you serious, Sky?"
I nod. "I would never lie about something like this."
"That is amazing! Heaven is real! My faith has grown stronger because of you, Sky."
I smile and kiss him. "Mine too. "
I stood up and held Michael's hand.
"I'm surprised you told me I was under for four weeks. When I was with my mom it felt like an hour."
"Well, that was the longest hour I ever went through. "
We laugh. Before we make it out the door, Doctor Davison comes in.
"Sorry, Sky. You have to leave in a wheelchair. Hospital policies. "
"I can walk fine though. "
Michael made me sit down.
"Hospital policies, dear."
I smile. Michael pushes me to the elevator.
