Ch 6: mother

*Natsu POV*

I wish I was home right now. Luce made me look like a human mage. It disgusted me. I watched as light flickered through the small window on the right of the cage. I watched as it spilled over the floor like water. I heard the guild start to become noisy. I knew a lot of their names by now. Mirajane, Gray, Erza, Levy, Gajeel, Romeo, Wendy, the list just kept going.

Its been three weeks now. Every time a dragon attack came they used me, but Lucy and her friend Levy told me a way around it. Apparently it can only control me when in dragon form. It can only make me use my magic in dragon form anyway. However, in human form it can only stop me from escaping by shocking me or paralyzing me.

Despite that I haven't found a way to get out of it. Now I have killed maybe hundreds of my kind without intending to. I hummed to myself a tune that i heard from Luce. She said it was a tune her mother taught her at a young age. A sort of prayer to dragons. One that asks for peace and friendship.

Luce always was good at getting to me. Little by little. She is still a human though. I guess, no wait I'm the son of the dragon king! I should hate humans! I do, but not her. She's not like the others. She, I was cut from my thoughts with a familiar strawberry sent. My senses perked as I just took in all of the sweet smell. I snapped out of my trance as the door creaked open and the morning light spilled into the room. I winced a little and covered my eyes. I heard the door creak shut.

I slowly opened my eyes. It was Luce. "Hey Natsu" she walked over to me. I no longer growled when she gets close. Just when she gets too close. She is always so happy. I just don't get how normally such a cruel creature could be so happy. She sat down beside me and smiled. "I have a job I want to go on with you." It caught my interest so I looked at her to show I was listening.

She grabbed a piece of paper and showed it to me. "We have to go to a town not far from here and take care of some bandits. Not too hard." I nodded and turned my head away. She sighed. "Natsu please!" I grew silent. I saw the town name on the paper. I didn't want to go there. "Dracarys is a dragon worshipping town. I'd rather not." I didn't like speaking, but she would make me, one way or the other.

"Well too bad! We're going. Wendy and Erza are coming too." I flinched at the last name. 'The Scarlet haired woman wasn't a threat but she was very unpredictable.' I don't like when something is unpredictable. I wasn't going to argue though cause then she would start crying and that's the last thing I want.

I watched her walked happily down the side walk and laughed as she was told not to fall into the water. I subconsciously smiled, but quickly turned that back to a frown so Lucy didn't see. Too late. She was looking back at me and giggled. I looked away. I felt a small blush creep on to my face. 'Her giggle is so cute. Wait, what!?' I mentally scolded myself for the rest of the walk.

We arrived at what I assume is her house. She hasn't taken me here before. I sniffed around as she took me inside. The place smelled so much like her sweet sent it drove me crazy. I walked over to her bedroom and opened the window, sighing in relief as the cool outside air calmed me down. "Strawberries" I mumbled to myself. I could feel Lucy curious gaze on me as she walked in.

"Everything alright Natsu?" I didn't answer her. She sighed "I thought we were past that," she paused for a second before continuing "I guess not" she said sadly. My heart twisted in my chest. I glanced back at her. She was grabbing a few final things as she was packing up. She had a hurt expression on her face as she worked. 'Dammit I mad her upset.' My stomach ached as I watched her. I faced back to the view out the window. "Sorry Luce" she stopped moving. "It's fine. Let's just go." She said with no emotion.

My heart sank as I heard her speak. She seemed very happy all the time, but... humans are very fragile creatures. Why does this feel so familiar. I froze as flashes of a woman appeared in my head. A woman I had never seen before. Yet, she seemed so familiar. She had long pink hair and beautiful blue eyes. So elegantly beautiful as she reached her hand out to me.

Pretend she's reaching out her hand (I do not own any of this story's images. All rights go to their respective owners.
I took it and all of a sudden I was in a field. A field with just her. A field with a cool breeze blowing by. A field of gold.
