Natsu POV

"M-My mother was human!?" I could barely believe what I was hearing! Zero must be joking. My mother could transform into a dragon which makes her a dragon! The last photo made me question his words even more. "See she's a dragon!" Zero shook his head. "No Natsu, she WAS human." Zero sighed. I knew that sigh. A story was coming next. Wonderful. "When they found out about you your mother was still human. Over the course of her pregnancy she grew incredibly weak. He looked over at me with sad eyes. "You were killing her from the inside." I felt my heart skip a beat, but then focused in on what he was saying. "Your father had a choice. Let things go along normally and possibly loose her and maybe you too, or turn her into a dragon and give her a fighting chance. You can guess which one he chose. She agreed and when you were born your human traits were eliminated due to the dragon blood now in her, forcing it out."

"Why? Why did you dragons except a human as your queen!? Dragons are supposed to hate humans!" I said a little too loud. "Natsu? Are you okay?" Lucy's voice sounded from the kitchen. I didn't respond and looked at Zero for an answer. He smiled and as he disappeared into the shadows he gave me it. "Why does it matter? If you love them, then that's enough of a explanation." I froze in shock as he said those words. 'If you love them, then that's enough of an explanation?' The words rang in my head. "Oh, I won't tell your father about any of this, but you need to decide. The sooner you do it, the less of a mess this will become." With that he completely melted into the shadows of the night. The great shadow dragon king, Zero. Gone.

"Natsu! Dinners ready!" Lucy yelled from the kitchen. I heard her loud and clear, but didn't move an inch. I was watching. Watching this couple down by the water. "My eyes must be tricking me!" I peered closer. It was the girl Levy. Lucy's friend. With a dark haired man. His sent is familiar. He smelled like burning metal. The image of me in the cell a while ago with some of the Dragonslayers flashed into my head. Realization hit me like a hammer. That's Gajeel, the iron dragonslayer. He was holding the small girl close. As she had a book in her hand. "Look Gajeel he's not so bad. If Lucy can get him to be calm I'm sure we could all be friends." Gajeel didn't seem interested in that idea. I was bored so I jumped off the window sill down to them. My landing startled them both and I was greeted by an iron club which I swiftly dodged.

"You!" Gajeel said angrily. I couldn't blame him. My father was the one who killed many mages across Fiore. He has every right to be this way. "Oh hey Natsu!" Levy greeted me cheerfully. Since she was Lucy's friend I gave her a nod and softened my gaze. "What do you want?" Gajeel demanded. Levy gave him a glare and slapped him. It hurt him and surprised me. I didn't think she could do that much damage. I wanted to laugh but I felt as if it would be out of character. "You're staying at Lucy's place right?" I nodded. "Luce made dinner. I'm not hungry. Would you like some?" I offered in the most emotionless tone I could manage. Levys eyes sparkled. "Really! Thanks! Come on Gajeel." She raced off to Luce's apartment and Gajeel was still on the ground. I growled and picked him up and put his arm around my shoulder. He looked at me confused, but I didn't acknowledge it.

"Lu-Chan thank you for the food!" Levy exclaimed excitedly. We all ate in the living room. Happy had his fish and Lucy had made some spaghetti and for desert is cupcakes. Gajeel went straight for the cupcakes, but Levy stopped him. I watched as the small girl once again put the large man down. 'That bag must be powerful.' I shuddered a little and walked over to the living room and sat down on the couch. Lucy sat on the chair near it, eating a cupcake. I just stared off into space silently.

"Lu-Chan, isn't it kinda cold in here?" Levy yelled over from the kitchen. "Really? It's not cold in here." Levy gave her a devilish smirk which slightly scared me. "Thats because your right next to a walking fire place. Natsu!" She directed her attention to me with that last word. I was a little confused, but Lucy's face was as red as a tomato. She must be embarrassed.

Levy talked with Lucy for what seemed like forever. Then "Lu we should watch a movie!" Levy said excitedly. "A horror movie!" "No, you both are going to be creeped out and scared for the rest of the night just by the first 10 minutes" Gajeel  snapped. They didn't listen and sure enough that's exactly what happened. Luce had set up the movie lacrima and we watched The Shining. The girls were whimpering and hiding under the blankets and Gajeel was staring wide eyed, not moving at all. The axe bathroom scene came on and Lucy screamed. I felt warmth around my waist and on my chest. I was laying down on the couch and Luce is on top of me! She hid her face in my chest, but from the wet warm sensation on it, I could tell she was crying.

"Alright thats enough." I said to myself silently. A turned off the movie and shooed Gajeel and Levy out. "Take her home Gajeel." He nodded and they both left. I came back onto the living room and saw Lucy still crying on the couch. It felt like my heart was twisting in my chest. It hurt, a lot. I gently picked her up and carried her over into her room and placed her gently down on her bed. I closed the window and covered her up with her blankets. She's so beautiful. I sweat dropped at my own thoughts. "It'll never happen" i said to myself.

I sighed and left her to rest. But before I could leave, i felt something grab my hand. I looked over my shoulder and it was Luce. Her teary scared face looked up at me. Her chocolate brown eyes melted my heart more and more every second I looked at them. I looked away trying to retain my emotionless gaze, but i couldn't. 'What is wrong with me!?' She tugged on my hand weakly gaining my attention once again.

"Natsu, I'm scared." 'Well then thats the last time you'll watch a horror movie!" I yelled in my head. She weakly tugged on my hand again. "It's so cold." She said hugging the blanket. She was shivering so much I could see it. 'My bad, I left the window open.' "Could you stay? Please? Just come lay next to me." I felt the warmth rush to my face. Good thing its dark. I gulped and walked over. She scooted over so I could lay down. I did and she scooted over right into me. I felt extremely embarrassed. "Take your vest off." "What!?" I was really surprised. "Your warmer if you take it off." 'Yeah that's a survival tactic, but I'm sensitive!'

I took it off and she cuddled into my chest. I tried my best not to react, but I still did and I hissed a little at the feeling. She put her hands on my chest tracing my dragon marks which sent shivers down my spine. "Sorry, its just, I've always been obsessed with dragons. Everyone says their terrible, cruel, monsters, but..." she looked up at me with her mesmerizing eyes "you've shown me that they are some of the most beautiful creatures in Fiore. All you have to do is be friends." She said with such a sweet voice and an even sweeter smile. "Natsu, don't ever leave me and I wont ever leave you either."

At that moment my whole world stopped. My view point completely changed. I felt, wanted, loved, cared for. Just like how I felt when my mother was alive. My chains that I used to lock my heart up, at that moment with such few words she shattered them to pieces. All my emotions that I've hidden for years came back to me in a flash that was almost overwhelming. All because of this girl. Memories in my head of the past two months flashed in my head. Her kindness and warm heart was in every single one. Her warm heart melted my once cold one. For the first time in a long time, I felt truly alive.

I gently put my hand on her shoulder. She looked up at me wide eyed. I smiled a gentle warm smile and touched my forehead to hers. My heart was pounding in my chest. I could hear hers beating fast as well. "Natsu?" "Thank you Lucy," I paused and pulled back so I could see her eyes "you have given me my heart back. I promise that I will never leave you." I pushed a piece of her golden hair behind her ear. "Go to sleep." She nodded and snuggled into my chest. Her breath tickled me a little, but I didn't react. I was calm. I knew this would be hard for my dad to except, but he did it too. So he cant blame me. I sighed and whispered silently to myself so she didn't  hear "I've fell in love with a human. Just like you did father. And she is the purest creature i have ever known."
