It didn't really turn out to be the excuse she was expecting but - still - she tried to take it in her stride.

By throwing a COMPLETE tantrum, cursing everything under the Sun and generally and unsuccessfully trying to stop herself from punching Asher in his handsome and beautiful face.

Let's just say the last bit didn't turn out that great.

Asher stumbled back, the black blood of his kind flowing from his newly broken nose.
"Sorry." She growled, through gritted teeth, "I don't usually punch idiots, but I had a reason to this time."

Since he was a vampire, the blood slowed quickly and then stopped all together.
"Thanks." He said, "I THINK I might've deserved that." He stepped forwards, "I don't even know your name."

She raised an eyebrow, NOW he was flirting, and she LOVED it.

"I don't have a name." She said, and it was true, she'd never been called ANYTHING by her mother and no one else wanted to know her name.

"I will call you Kali, then." Said Asher, "It means Dark Goddess. Like you."

He stepped forwards, he LOOKED as though he was going to kiss her, but she was one step ahead of him.
She stepped back and he stepped forward.
Then the idea came to her; it was a piece of advice that Evie had given her AGES ago.

"Play hard to get and they'll love you more."

"Look." She said, "We've just met and I'm REALLY busy, right now, trying to resist."

He cocked his head at her, white teeth and fangs flashing as he gave her a snarky grin, "Leave it too long and you'll find I've already been taken."

"Oh I know." She whispered, opening the window, "Can you come with me?"

"Kali..." he tested her name, "What are y—"

But she had already grabbed the front of his cloak and yanked him out the window with her.

It didn't take them long to get to the roof.
Ducking behind a chimney stack, they waited for the Sun to dip behind the horizon.
