Tess's hands were on fire. Out of all the crazy things that had happened today that had freaked me out the most.
In her palms she held two bright orange fireballs that were swirling and flickering dangerously. I don't know who was more surprised, Tess, me or Frost. She was stumbling around, waving her hands trying to swat the flames out but they didn't seem to be hurting her. I heard the machines start beeping more rapidly as my heart rate rose.
Frost recovered from his shock and yelled at the guards: "Get her!" I managed to muster enough strength to topple out of the bed, on top if one of the guards, pinning him to the ground. The wires ripped and tubes and ripped off of me and I moaned in pain as the drip disconnected itself from my arm, sending a wave of fresh blood . I looked up from my fight.
"Tess, look out!" I screamed as the other guard pulled out a drug gun.
"Shoot her!" Frost shouted. The guard let a dart fly towards Tess. I watched in slow motion as she raised her hands to protect her face. Suddenly a jet of flames shot out from Tess's palms and melted the dart instantly. The guard had to dive out the way to avoid getting burnt himself. Tess fell to her knees, her hands shaking but the fire extinguished.
I scrambled off the guard, who let out a grunt, and threw my arms around Tess's shoulders. She was breathing in deeply, sucking in oxygen. "Hey, hey its okay," I whispered as I rocked her. "Its okay. Shh, I'm here, don't worry." Frost stood there, bright red with fury.
"Get him back in bed," he said jabbing a finger at me. "And get her to a room. I'll deal with this tomorrow." Two of the nurses gently prised my arms from Tess and got me back into bed. I didn't resist. I knew that if I did it wouldn't mean anything good for us and plus, I was way too weak to do anything more anyway with all my adrenaline gone.
The two guards yanked Tess to her feet and half walked, half dragged her out of the room. I watched her go. "I will get to see her tomorrow, right?" I asked Frost. "It won't do any good to keep us apart." Frost turned to me. He looked pretty angry and his hard eyes stared into mine.
"We'll see," he finally said.
"Do you really want to risk her setting fire to everything?" I said. "Without me there, she won't calm down. It's better that you keep us together." Frost seemed to think about that for a moment while the nurse wrapped a bandage around my arm where the drip had been ripped out.
"Fine," he said. "I can see how that can work."
"Thank you," I sighed.
"But just to make sure there are no mistakes..." He pulled out a white circular tube and pulled it apart. As quick as a viper he clamped it around my wrist and a blue light flickered on.
"What?" I cried.
"If you go outside a certain perimeter then this little thing here will electrocute you. There will be one for your sister too, don't you worry, but this will make sure that you don't try anything stupid," he said. I tried to tug the bracelet off me but it was no use.
"It will only come off with my key. And just to be safe, your sister's key is with someone else," he said cruelly. He held up a thin, blue circle, like a counter, that was on a chain around his neck. I realised that it would fit perfectly on the bracelet and must be how it unlocked.
Frost nodded to one of the nurses who came up with a syringe. "I think it's time that you got some sleep, Mr. Halister," Frost said. The nurse jabbed me in the arm with the needle and I instantly felt sleepy. "You have a big day tomorrow."

My nightmares were bad again. Very bad. I was in a grey ocean in the middle of a storm. My boat was leaking and lightning blasted down from the heavens in jagged purple streaks. The waves were like mountains towering over me, crashing on top of my little boat, almost pulling me out.
Suddenly, I heard screaming from the dull waves and I saw Tess's head bobbing in the water, her long black hair being whipped around in the ferocious wind. She kept being dragged underneath and coming up spluttering. I tried to dive in the water but the wind pushed me back into the boat.
"Edward!" Tess yelled.
"I'm coming!" I shouted. I fought against the wind desperately but no matter what I did I couldn't get to her. I watched as she was dragged under once more but this time she didn't come back up. A massive wave, bigger then the others, crashed on top of me. The boat flipped up and I sank into the depths, my lungs burning for air.
***
I sat bolt right up, gasping and in cold sweat. When I realised where I was, I put my head in my hands. "Escaped out of one nightmare, straight into another," I muttered. I noticed that all the tubes and wires were all gone and that I felt so much better. A brown haired nurse came up to me carrying a plastic tray with a plate of toast and eggs on.
"You should count yourself lucky," she said kindly. "You don't know how hard it is to get eggs these days."
"Thank you," I said gratefully, taking the tray. She nodded but then walked away towards the other nurses who were all having a chat on the other side of the room.
I ate in silence thinking about what would happen today. After what happened yesterday, I wasn't sure if I wanted to find out. I finished my breakfast and set the tray on the end of my bed. I threw back the covers and stretched my legs out just as Frost came in the room, dressed in an identical grey suit to the one he was wearing yesterday. "Ah, good you're awake," he said. "How did you sleep, Mr. Halister?"
"How did I sleep? Are you kidding me? You drugged me. Again!" I said angrily.
"It was necessary," was all he said. "This way to the showers then." He gestured to the door and walked out, not even bothering to see if I was following.
Two guards met me at the door and escorted me behind Frost. I could see the blue key hanging on the chain around his neck which only reminded me of the electrocution bracelet on my right wrist.
We arrived at a door. Frost placed his hand on the wall to let me in. "You have half an hour. There are new clothes in there. When you are done you can go and see your sister. I will meet you in the test centre," Frost said to me. The guards shoved me inside and the door closed behind me.
The shower block had six silver showers with a couple of sinks and a giant mirror covering all of the wall in front of me. There was a stool with a fluffy white towel and a set of fresh clothes that were the same as the ones I was wearing.
I peeled off my clothes and dumped them on the floor, twisted the shower handle and jets of hot water rained down on me. I immediately felt relaxed and my stiff muscles eased out of the tensed position that I had been in since we arrived. I was slightly worried about how the bracelet would react to the water but it was totally fine.
I stayed in the shower for a good twenty minutes before the water shut off automatically. I towelled myself off and slipped on the loose fitting clothes. Again, there were no shoes so I had to go bare foot. I stared at myself in the mirror.
Once the sixteen year old in front of me had been happy. He had a family, a home and everything that he needed. He didn't have to worry about his sister or if he'd survive the next day. His only problem had been school work. The meteorite changed all that for me.
One of the guards thumped on the door. "Are you ready?" he called. I sighed and turned away from the mirror. I knocked on the door to signal for them to open it. The door hissed open and the guards escorted me away to the training room, my black hair dripping on the freezing white tiles.
