The Moons Deal
Capituló 20
Dimitris POV
Something inside of me snapped, got torn into smaller pieces, stepped on, and then douched in gas to be set up in flames. The one organ in my body stopped beating at the exact same time another one did, but the only difference was that mine continued on...
I could not, for some reason, remember what had transpired the last day since I gave myself up to him. I remembered being outnumbered, since the humans began to join the rouges and hunters, but after a glance at a horrified Alex, I remember a sharp pain and then nothing. But that pain was nothing compared to the pain that was going on in my heart.
I quickly looked around, trying to find the reason my heart was in so much pain. The half injured warriors who were standing immediately fell down to their knees, all of their faces and even scents reeking of horror as they stared at something straight ahead of me. With slow, deliberate movements, I turned my neck to see what they were seeing and gasped.
"No."
I didn't realize the word had escaped my lips until it repeated over and over again. Familiar black hair was displayed all across the concrete road, and an immovable body was underneath it. The face that I was supposed to wake up every morning to was staring off into space, but her pupils were not dilating back to normal. Blood that was supposed to be pumping her heart was over her lips and chin, and slowly beginning to drip over the ground she was laying upon.
The world seemed to get smaller as my knees gave out, and I plummeted down to the floor. My vision began to blur, and it took me many seconds to realize why.
Tears. I was crying.
I, the vampire King, was crying.
My knees began to think faster than my brain. I was already crawling towards her before I even registered I was moving. No one stopped me as I bounced up, and began to run, getting to her in seconds. My hands hovered over her still body as Max howled next to her, while more shrieks of pain were thrown out into the wind many feet away from us.
"No..." I whispered as the tears continued to roll down. "No... no... you can't be gone." I wiped my eyes with a quick swipe of my palm and then picked up her body. My fingers trembled as I moved her hair away from her face, and then softly patted her cheeks, as if she was just sleeping. "Emilee... Emilee please!"
"No." The small whisper of a female voice brought my head up, and I immediately hissed as I saw Tatiana on her knees, two feet from us. Her eyes were trained on my beloved, and they brimmed with unshed tears as she continued to whisper. "I thought... I thought she would do it... I thought... I thought she had a chance with you... Emilee..."
"We were wrong and now she's gone." Alexs' hard voice spat at her. I barely paid attention to them as I looked back down at my love, my girl. "...we thought she could do it, but Dimitri was just far too gone for her to be able to do anything."
My head snapped up at the sound of my name and I hissed. "What the fück did I do!?"
"YOU GAVE HIM CONTROL!" Alex roared. I knew if I wasn't holding his daughter, I would have probably be meeting his fists as my back met the floor, but he held himself back. "WE MADE THE MISTAKE OF TELLING TATIANA TO GIVE HER SOME ENERGY TO TRY AND SAVE YOU BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE." His head hung down and his knees gave out underneath him as his voice broke out into a whisper. "We made the wrong decision."
"WHY THE HELL DIDNT YOU CHANGE HER INSTEAD?" I snarled, looking over at the witch who had promised she would not let my beloved die. "WHY DIDNT YOU?"
"Changing her would have taken a few days Dimitri. A few days of constant energy being taken from me. I barley had enough to give her so she could stand up and try to get you back. Half of me was in her, so I was drained as well."
"I dont give a flying fück about myself. Why the hëll didn't you change her?"
"I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO SNAP OUT OF IT IN TIME AND CHANGE HER YOURSELF. YOU MADE HER A PROMISE THAT IF I DIDNT DO IT YOU WOULD."
I looked down at my angels face and cursed myself. I did didn't I... and I failed...
"But-"
Before I could begin my own sentence, it seemed as if the whole world brightened up twice as much as it usually did. My vision turned nothing but to whiteness and it took me a few minutes for it to focus back. When it finally did, I sensed an immense power radiating behind Tatiana, and my eyes quickly snapped over there. My breath hitched, and even two others gasped as we all saw who was standing there.
The Moongoddess.
Delilah's pov
It was dead silent as we all stared at the person who had turned the world white. From what I could see from this distance, her rich, mocha skin glowed, even though there was no spotlight on her. I knew she was a female, since she slowly turned to face us, and smiled. Her feminine features were perfect; not a single flaw, and I briefly wondered who she was.
"Delilah. Please come here." My mouth dropped at the sound of my name, and the arms that were around my waist quickly fell, freeing me. At the fall of... Emilee, I was ready to bounce back, but one of the warriors held me back. Dimitri was still a full blown demon, and I was in danger. But now, I was free to run and I did so, quickly running into the arms of my mate before the tears began to leak again.
"I know baby...I know..." he whispered into my ear as I cried in his chest.
"Delilah, child. Don't cry anymore please. I am here to bring happiness."
"How?" Dimitri beat me to the question, but I didn't mind. My throat was thick, and it would have been a few moments before I could speak without breaking out into tears again.
The woman smiled again and raised a covered hand. Her long sleeve rolled up slightly as she outstretched her hand, and then out of thin air, produced some clothes. "Alex, my son." Alex didn't hesitate. He even apologized and dressed quickly before he had me in his arms again.
"She's the Moongoddess Delilah. She's our God." I hadn't realized I had asked my question out loud until Alex answered it. My eyes widened and she laughed, winking at my expression.
"It's fine child. You didn't know. But now, on to my business. I am here to make you an offer." She waited for a response, and I nodded as Alex begged of her to go on. "What would you say if I told you I could bring back your daughter."
I gasped as Alexs arms tightened around me. Dimitri quickly stood up, bringing my daughter up with him and he took a step forward. "We will do anything. Please bring back my beloved."
She shook her head as she stared at him and then turned back to us. "It is their decision Dimitri. As there is a consequence that is bound to happen once the child is brought back."
I don't care. I want our daughter back Alex.
"We will do anything. Please, what must we do?"
With a wave of her hand over Dimitris direction, Emilee disappeared and we all gasped. Dimitri growled, but stopped himself and hung his head as he apologized. "I will bring her back... but you all have to make a sacrifice. Too much blood has been shed today and I did not like watching my children fight one another. But the fight had to go on to ensure a future I knew would happen, where there would be peace with supernaturals and humans."
"What is... the sacrifice?" Alex whispered out, his voice quivering once.
She was silent as she looked at us, before she opened her lips and spoke. "Your mates."
A snark escaped from Alexs mouth and I was immediately shoved behind him. I gasped at his reaction and gasped again when Dimitri hissed at her before he joined Alex. "WHAT? What do you mean our mates?"
She didn't seem bothered by their actions. She stared straight at me as she spoke. "Mates are someone you love deeply. Don't you love your daughter deeply as well?"
"Of course!" Alex spat out. "But isn't there anything else you insist on having? You can not take my mate from me."
"I am afraid the scale must be even Alex. One side cannot be heavier than the other side, or else there will be even further consequences to uphold."
"So we won't have our mates anymore? Emilee will be alive, but we both won't have them by our sides?"
She shook her head. "That's right. But it won't be just you two. Your entire family has to give up their mates." As they began to protest again, she raised a hand and stopped them. She began to step forwards, and I was confused as both Alex and Dimitri stayed still while she walked around them. "I froze them Delilah. It seems as if whatever I say, they won't listen, but I know you will."
I gulped as she stopped behind me, making me twirl around so now my back was to Alex's back. She stared at me for a few seconds, before she gave me a wide smile and lifted her hand again to sweep her almost white hair behind her shoulders.
"So, Delilah. Would you give up being Alex's mate, and the queen of all werewolves, just to get your daughter back?"
I didn't hesitate to answer. "Yes. I know Alex will never agree with it, but this is our child. He should know I will always go with our children first before I think of us." I looked down at my hands as I bit my bottom lip. I slowly looked up, feeling a tear leak from the corner of my eye as I whispered, "Although I do love him with all of my heart. He is my soulmate and it will break us to be separated. So even if my mind is telling me yes, I will do it, my heart is telling me no."
The moon goddess was silent as she absorbed my words. "What if I promise you something else. What if I promise you that there is a chance for you to be with Alex again, even without the mate bond."
I quickly cleared the tears away and gave her a confused look. "What... what do you mean?"
"If your love is truly powerful, you won't need a mate bond to find one another once again. True love is the most powerful thing of all, something I cannot break, even if I do end the gift of mates. A mate bond is just something that tells two people they are meant to be. It's a push, an advance head start in their life, so they know that other half is who they will be spending the rest of their lives with. Think about your parents, sweetheart. Did they need a bond to realize they were meant with one another?"
I quickly shook my head. "No."
"So you two shouldn't." She took a step forward, placing a hand on my shoulder and gave it a soft squeeze.
She dropped her hand and I slowly turned, So now my back was to nothing and I could see both her and the still frozen Kings. "Do we have to make a decision now? Or do we have time?"
I didn't stare at her as she spoke. "I'm afraid it must be now. There are no times for goodbyes. Your daughters spirit is already ready to move on to the next stage, and even I can't get her from there."
A soft cry escaped my lips as I stared at Alex's back. "So what exactly will happen if we agree to this?" I managed to whisper.
"I will bring back your daughter, as a vampire. She has always been meant to be one, but a series of unfortunate events prevented her from being one. I will take you, and all three of your daughters, and move you to another location. All mate bonds in the royal family will cease to exist from here on out, but that doesn't mean you won't be able to love." She took a soft, deep breath as she continued her explanation. "I will erase your memories-" my head snapped up at this comment, and she gave me a small smile as she raised a finger up to halt the words from my mouth. "-but you will get them back. Once Alex marks you as his again, you shall remember everything. Although you won't feel the sparks like you do now, if your love is truly real, you won't need them to live happily ever after."
"What about my daughters? Eve is pregnant. Ari hasn't found her mate yet. And Emilee..." I trailed off as she gave me another soft smile.
"All will be revealed soon, Delilah. Everything will be fine. As for Emilee and Dimitri... well only she can decide that now. It is still her choice whether she wants him or not."
My eyes were blurring as I stared at my family, who were still standing in the same spot I left them a few minutes ago. I could barely make out their expressions, but I could see Noah holding on tightly to his sisters. All the other wolves were either staring down at the floor, or hiding underneath their paws, making soft, whimpering noises that even I could hear.
"Can I give him one last message?" My voice broke too many times to count. I saw her nod once, and then both guys unfroze, quickly whirling around to face us.
"No. Absolutely no Delilah." He gathered me into his arms and held me tightly as I buried my face on his chest. "Please don't do this. I can't lose you. I just can't."
I sniffed and strained my neck back, wiping the tears I saw that were rolling down his cheeks. "It will all be ok Alex. It won't be forever. I need to do this, for our daughter."
I don't know how, but his arms tightened even more around me as he buried his face against my neck. "But it will feel like forever. I won't know how long it will take me to find you."
I ran my fingers through his hair, before I pulled his head back and smashed my lips to his. He responded immediately, lifting my feet up and off the ground, never breaking our embrace. When I broke off, I pressed my nose against his and gave him a smile. "I trust you to find me Alex. I trust you with all of my heart. How many people can say they fell in love with their soulmate for a second time? I will be able to say that. Make me fall for you all over again Alex. Make me say I love-" His mouth pressing into mine again stopped me from finishing off my words, but this embrace didn't last long. I could tell our time was up, as the moongoddess gently cleared her throat.
"I'm sorry. But it's time."
I somehow yanked myself away from his grip, and shook my head when he tried to pull me into him again. I took the dreaded three remaining steps away from my mate, and gasped when my remaining two daughters appeared in front of us. They quickly ran to Alex, who gave them both a proper hug, and then slowly let them go.
The tears never stopped running down his cheeks as they joined me.
"I love you."
"I love you more my little dandelion." And then everything went white.
