Shitty Judgement

In the room was the parliament, where old men were seated in a 'C' formation with Cendra in the center. She rested her wrists on the bar so that the soldier could attach the cuffs there, rendering her unable to escape. She looked around to see aristocratic old men eyeing her in silence. She gulped loudly before lowering her tense shoulders to appear normal.

"She should be executed!" One yelled.

'Oh boy' she thought as more began yelling nonsense.

"She must be burned!"

"She knows too much!"

"But it wasn't her fault!"

"We should give her a chance!"

"She should be exiled!"

"She should be killed!"

"She should be-"

"WILL YOU SHUT UP?!" she yelled, quickly silencing the men. Soon enough the elder stood up and said in a stern yet curious tone:

"It is not your right to speak."

"Then how am I supposed to defend myself?" She retorted. The youngest member, also known as the announcer, began to speak.

"What is your defense then?"

"If this is about the apple I didn't steal it, the horse let me have it. And while that may seem like a stupid defense it's true. You can apparently ask him yourself. As for the sword-"

"Where is Jenta?" One of the parliament members asked.

"Who?"

"The sword," answered the announcer. "Jenta is the sword of the soldier whom you defeated in battle. No one has ever managed to defeat him, let alone unsheathe Jenta. How come you were able to?"

"I don't know, it's not like it was rusting or anything. Anyone should be able to do it."

"No, you see Jenta is a special sword created many years ago. It holds special abilities that only the wielder can use. Because of this Jenta can only be unsheathed by its chosen wielder. It chose Sanzo, and yet you are also able to unsheathe it. There's also the matter of the disappearance of Jenta."

"I don't think I have any special powers, if I did I wouldn't be a peasant now would I? And as for the disappearance of the sword I threw it in the forest while the soldier was still there. He could have easily went in that direction to retrieve it but instead he went back to try and get more slaves."

"So he did not apprehend you upon first meeting?"

"No, I beat him up then ran off. However he stalked me and took my siblings! Where are my sisters anyways?" That is when another member stood up, his demeanor more serene than most.

"Rest assured child, they were being interrogated while your brother was still unconscious. They should be back in their cell."

"...Alright. But I would like to be released along with my siblings please."

"What about your parents? Where are they?"

"They were taken as slaves when I was ten. I haven't seen them since."

"But the law declares only single peasants without children can be put into slavery."

"Well then I guess you have a few liars." This left the entire room silent.

"I am deeply sorry for the soldier's mistake. Do you remember what your parents look like?"

"....Are you going to release them from slavery?"

"Yes, seeing as how your siblings are still somewhat young and it was our mistake we must release them."

"My father's name is Herda and my mother's is Ginsa. He has black hair usually in a ponytail. My mother has silver hair like me. Can you please release us then?"

The eldest member stood before saying "We have many questions left unaswered girl. However it would be unjust to leave you in the dungeon. Does the counsel agree to keeping this family as guests in the palace?"

There were several murmurs echoing in the room, leaving Cendra uneasy. After a minute or so of discussing the announcer stood up and beat the drum three times to signify a verdict. The announcer cleared his throat before saying loud and clear:

"The defendant Cendra of Salgo shall remain in the palace along with her family as guests of Parliament until the sword Jenta has been retrieved and we understand why she was able to weild Jenta. Court adjourned."

Once the verdict was laid out the members of Parliament began filing out through their entrance doors opposite of Cendra. She looked around confused unt she was left alone in the court room. Soon enough the kind soldier reappeared with keys in his hand, more than likely to uncuff her. She smiled softly while rubbing her wrists once they were freed.

"So I guess we'll be seeing each other more often then. My name is Len, I'm a soldier of the court of the king."

"Nice to meet you, I'm Cendra, peasant and sister to three." She laughed before following him up to the guest corridors.

"Well, at least for a few days, you won't be a peasant." He said with a genuine smile. Something about him was sincere, and it confused Cendra. Were some soldiers not assholes? Odd. He must be new then.

"Also, if anyone gives you a tough time let me know, remember that here you're a guest, not a peasant. Here you're an equal to everyone except the Royal family."

Oh boy.
