Chapter Four
October 31st - 3001
"L O G F O U R - 'T h e C h a l l e n g e s'"
'Can you survive?' The sound echoed in my ears as the the rest of the people in the room just stared up at the screen. Their eyes glazed over as they watched and listened to the hologram. My eyes darting past several people in the room before landing on a male with dark chocolate colored hair, and tan skin. His jaw chiseled and defined while his cheekbones made themselves pronounced. He was very attractive that much was very evident as he looked towards the front.
Almost feeling himself being watched his eyes suddenly moved to me. His brows furrowed and his lips pressed into a thin line, instantly his gaze grew cold and intimidating. The thought and sight of such a male who looked like he could be so cuddly like a giant teddy bear amused me. Yes he was taller than me and more fit than some of the people here. But I just found it amusing that he saw the need to intimidate a small girl like me.
"Each of you have been chosen from a large pool of candidates. All of whom we have approved of to go into these walls. However you do not remember anything." She said this as if it was so blatant and obvious that some people chuckled, glancing around nervously as if she was just joking. Hoping that at any moment something would happen and they'd say 'suprise'. But something in my gut told me that this wasn't right.
I hadn't even noticed that I wasn't listening to what she was saying until I felt a sudden chill run down my back and a warm hand against the small of my back. Instantly my body flinched but did not move, as if it was prepared for something but not any danger at the sudden contact.
"For someone who seems so lost in the clouds I would have expected her to be more concerned about her life than what I look like." His voice was gravelly and deep, as if he was smirking.
A hoarse chuckle escape my lips, "For someone who's so concerned over their life you sure are awfully interested in when I scope out people."
He stayed silent as he pulled away and stood behind me, I knew his attention had moved to the screen as mine had to.
"You all were chosen from the best of the best. You have forgotten your skills, as the contract which you have signed requires. We are building a new society to replace the fallen of our old home. By completing these Challenges you will show the world that you are ready to handle the rebirth of this planet." As she spoke it was clear how much pride she had in these 'Challenges'.
"The Facility is now your home, it is your tutor in the time from when you train to when you are sent out on Quests for the Challenges," her voice became sudden sad and sorrowful. "Not all of you will survive. These will be rough times, however there is hope for you all. There is hope for our home. There is hope for humanity. These are the Challenges."
Her eyes fluttered shut for a moment before opening once more with determination. "Can you survive?" The hologram disappeared along with the woman, everyone was silent.
We didn't know who we were, and what we were fighting for in the very end. She hadn't explained that very much. But we did know one thing.
That we weren't going to die.

I looked at the male behind me who caught my gaze, before we both turned towards the separate TEBO's that whirred over to us, each carrying a separate vanilla folder on its head. I smiled gently at the TEBO which handed me one, "Thank you." I said.
The guy scoffed as the lights flicked back on, "They don't need to be thanked, they're just bots doing what they're programmed to do." He scowled slightly. My gaze turned back on him, more like a glare. "Manners are always good, however you need to improve on yours. Clearly."
Rolling his eyes at that he gripped his own folder and opened it. Hesitating I flipped mine open as well. Information about who I was written before my eyes. I didn't know where to start.
"My name is Alexandra." I whisper.
