The Funeral

Renae Djar and her father were decked in black. Mr. Djar could not hold back his tears, while his daughter was in too much shock to cry. Daisy Djar was a cellist for the local symphony and a beloved mother. She used to have two children. One was in collage and couldn't make it to the public funeral. It was too heartbreaking for him. Renae didn't want to come either, but she was only fifteen and she didnt have a phone. This was the worst day of her life.
"Daisy was taken young from this world." Said the priest. He was sad as well. His sister had just died of terminal lung cancer.  She was only fifty-four. A whole life of retirement ahead of her. He knew that Renae would fair good. So would Daniel. He gave his brother-in-law a look full of sadness.
Renae finally let herself cry. The strange emotions that had swelled inside her burst. She let go of her father's hand and let herself fall to the ground. Why, why her? Her sobs were loud and her throat was choked with tears. Renae cried her heart out. Her father soon joined her. Daisy was the sweetest person in the world. Why did it always seem that the good was being taken away, leaving the bad behind? Renae knew her once happy family would never be the same. Even if the students went to school. Even if the teacher went to work. Even if the graduate got his degree, nothing would ever go back to normal. The tears would flow until there were none. The sadness would swell until it burst. Renae cried with her father. She cried until her auburn hair was dark with tears. Her father sobbed until his suit was soaked. Her uncle let tears roll down his cheeks. Rain started to fall. Renae looked up. She would always remember that day as the day the world sobbed.
