Laxus vs Alexis
The two of them got into their fighting stances. Everyone waited with bated breath as they began to speculate who would make the first move. "Alexis will attack first, there's no doubt about it," Arthur commented from the stands. The rest of his teammates thought about it, before sighing in agreement.
Sure enough, Alexis charged forward, his hand beginning to glow as it crashed into Laxus's torso. The older man clearly didn't expect his punch to be so strong, as he was taken aback, both physically and mentally. He took a few seconds to regain his composure before gathering lightning in his palms. He fired a large beam of lightning towards the teen.
"Lightning Dragon Demolition Fist!" Alexis' eyes widened at the word 'Dragon' before quickly casting a spell to counterattack. Laxus watched as his attack was thrown off the course, hitting the walls of the arena. Alexis stood there, unscathed, with his arms outstretched towards the direction of the damaged wall. "You use Lightning Magic? This will be awesome!" Alexis exclaimed excitedly, a wide grin on his face.
"No way, he uses some sort of Metal Magic!" Lucy exclaimed. Laxus would've been fine if he had been pitted against anyone else, but a Metal Magic user? Lucy started to have a bit of doubt cloud her initial judgement as she watched the fight continue.
Laxus took in a deep breath, gathering magic energy into his mouth. "He probably can't divert the whole spell if it uses too much magic power," Wendy surmised. Alexis recognised the spell and quickly prepared a spell of his own. Almost everyone in the arena gasped as they saw the stance Alexis was getting into.
"LIGHTNING DRAGON ROAR!!!"
"GOLD DRAGON ROAR!!!"
A blinding light that had resulted from the two attacks clashing corruscated brightly across the arena, making most people shield their eyes. "So you're a Dragon Slayer too, huh?" Laxus said once the light had died down. "Yup! I'm the Gold Dragon Slayer!" Alexis nodded in affirmation. "Looks like you're gonna be even more of a pain than I thought," Laxus sighed as he ran towards him.
"Lightning Dragon Jaw!" Laxus slammed his lightning clad fists downwards. "Gold Dragon Plate!" Alexis made a golden block appear in between them. The plate was crushed by the weight of Laxus' attack, but Alexis had escaped with minimal damage. "Gold Dragon Uppercut!" Alexis swiped his gold plated fist upwards, colliding with Laxus' chin. The sharpness of the gold drew blood from the man. "This is so much fun, isn't it? Come on, give me your best shot!" Alexis laughed.
"Lightning Dragon Heavenward Halberd!" Laxus yelled in annoyance as a bolt of lightning shaped like a halberd flew towards Alexis. The teen tried to deflect the attack with his magic, but a part of it still hit him straight on. Alexis fell over from the force of the attack, but he quickly regained his bearings and got up. "You're really good at this, you know?" He swiped off the dirt on his shirt before gathering golden energy in his hands before sending it flying towards Laxus. "Gold Dragon Rush!" Laxus managed to counter and dispel the spell by firing one of his own.
"Raging Bolt!"
The spells mostly countered each other out, with a stray lightning bolt or two hitting the walls of the arena. Alexis closed his eyes, seemingly trying to concentrate. "Oh, he's finally getting serious now?" Logan chuckled. "It's about time," Arthur nodded.
"It was fun playing with you, but it's time to end this!" Alexis said. A giant golden magic circle appeared before Alexis. Laxus encased himself in lightning immediately to try to shield himself from the spell before his opponent fired his spell.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art! Heroic Gleam: Awesome Mega Boom!!!" A large golden beam shot out from the magic circle, covering the entire area of the battlefield. "Awesome Mega... Boom...?" Michelle repeated, wondering if she heard it wrong. "No offence to him, but that's kinda lame..." Lucy felt bad for both saying that and laughing. "Is Air Cleft Cannon a lame name too?!" Wendy demanded, tears welling up in her eyes, looking at Lucy. The blonde quickly reassured her that it wasn't.
"We should really get him to change the name, shouldn't we?" Logan sighed. "He insisted that he keep it. I mean, it is his spell after all, not to mention one he came up with all by himself, we don't really have the right to tell him what to do," the brunette man, the one who greeted Lucy with a smile during the inauguration, said. "We know one thing for sure, Unicorn will never let us live this down," Arthur deadpanned.
Alexis panted, trying to catch his breath, clearly exhausted from using that much magical power. Laxus was badly injured, but he was still trying to get up. "Give it up, dude, it's over for you," Alexis said, his arms crossed over his chest. Laxus glared at him, and without warning fired one last spell at him, putting all his remaining magic power into that last attack.
"DRAGON SLAYER SECRET ART: ROARING THUNDER!" The attack hit Alexis head on. Arthur cursed loudly from the stands as his other teammates watch the damage the attack caused in horror. The lightning and smoke cleared out, giving them a clear look of the outcome of the battle.
"And it looks like, ladies and gentlemen, we have a tie!" Chapati announced as the paramedics went over to help out the unconscious Alexis and Laxus. "Both Fairy Tail and Wyvern Horn score five points!" Wyvern Horn let out a sigh of relief. A tie was better than losing, at least.
"I can't believe that boy held his ground against Laxus like that!" Lucy exclaimed, amazed. "I didn't know Wyvern had someone like that on their side!" Wendy heard Makarov shout from the stands loudly. She kinda wanted to ask that Alexis boy about his dragon, and if it disappeared seven, no, fourteen years ago.
"Moving on to the next round, we have Ren Akatsuki of Blue Pegasus versus Araña Webb of Mermaid Heel!"
"Oh, it's Ren! Good luck, Ren!" Wendy shouted as the man walked into the arena. "Wow, you seem pretty close to him. I wonder how much he's improved in the past seven years," Lucy said. "You've never seen him come to the guild before?" Chelia looked at Lucy strangely. "I mean, I'm out on jobs pretty frequently so, no," Lucy shook her head. "He's engaged to Sherry! He's my future brother in law!" Chelia exclaimed. "What?!" Lucy gasped. How did she not know that? "They got engaged two months ago, and Sherry moved out to live with him," Wendy explained. "I should really spend more time in the guild hall, shouldn't I?" Lucy muttered as the match began.
Araña was quite a formidable opponent, being able to be on an equal footing against Ren throughout the match before Ren finally did her in with his Aerial Phose spell. Sherry cheered loudly for her fiancé, with Chelia and Wendy joining in as well. "Not bad," Wisteria commented. "Woah, Wisteria just complimented someone! The end is nigh!" Chelia yelled dramatically. Wisteria didn't look annoyed, and said nothing. She really was a tough enigma to crack, wasn't she? Michelle thought as Ren was announced as the winner.
The third battle was about to begin, and it involved Sabertooth, so it should be quite interesting.
I'll usually skip through battles that are canon in the actual story, but all battles involving Lamia Scale, Wyvern Horn and Unicorn Mane will be described in detail, or at least, I'll try to do so. Imagining battles is so much more easier than writing them, I've come to realise.
