8. LOST
It's been a week since my stay in this Kingdom. Everyone has been friendly and both me and Emily has been catching up with the Elvish standards. We still don't know how to speak elvish and I don't think Faeranduil wants us to.
Now that we stopped the manners class, we have a free period in the morning I think you could say. I and Emily would roam around the vast Kingdom and people would give us warm greetings and free amazing stuffs which we would turn down kindly.
'Do you remember the time we were offered a jewel ring. I would have taken it if you hadn't stomped me y'know' said Emily wistfully. 'It was too gracious of the elf vendor. That thing looked hella expensive. But you did get a small clip' I said. Emily took out the pure gold clip and admired it. 'True but I wouldn't be too happy about it cuz look.... the king just gave you an 'effing amethyst necklace. It looks so... fab. I mean they do not look ordinary'.
I pulled out the necklace from my robes and held it to the sunlight which was now glowing red?
But this was a deep plum coloured. 'The hell....it changes colour too....oh I'm jealous' exclaimed Emily. Yeah maybe it really changes colours I thought shrugging.
We walked into the kitchen for food. The chefs had already collected a few pastries for us cuz they knew we used to sneak food. Guess no tricks go pass Silvan Elves. We collected our share and went to our hiding spot.
'Dont you think the bush has grown a little bushier than before?' asked Emily while pulling at the small twigs that were in her hair. I nodded. From afar I saw Airen sword fighting Luthiann. Both were skilled and I don't think their fight would soon.
He not only has my attention but also the other elven ladies and Emily's too. I almost looked at him wistfully. Emily might have realised the look cuz she said 'Girl I don't know why your so shy to say to him you like him. I mean c'mon... he's like obviously crushing over you'.
I smirked and replied 'Yeah right. The kings personal assistant slash bodyguard slash friend is crushing over me'. 'Bitch you were never good with sarcasm in the first place so I advice you to be as non cocky as possible' she said with a side grin. I playfully shoved her into the bush. She groaned with anger while again pulling the twigs from her hair.
Then she said 'Well what I said is true. Airen does like you. While you were dancing the whole night with Daemeon, Airen was calculating the next person he had to dance with and positioned himself to have you. But Daemeon did not let you go and poor Airen did not have a chance to dance with you. He actually stormed from the ball after that. Honestly I think your both dumb and lucky. I mean c'mon how often do you get to have two hot elf boys drooling over you'. 'Shut up they are not drooling over me' is said blushing. She shrugged. I hadn't yet told her about the incident with Daemeon. I mean it's better I don't cuz I don't want the whole Kingdom to know about.
We walked towards the fight which hadn't even ended. Airen and Luthiann were gracefully swinging and smashing swords. But when we reached there Airen suddenly looked at me and might have gotten distracted and Luthiann suddenly pointed the tip of the sword at his exposed neck.
Airen grunted defeated and walked away without a second glance at anyone. Luthiann turned around to see us. She realised me standing there and smirked knowingly. 'So that is why Airen lost his concentration' said Luthiann grinning at me. Emily looked at me with Told - You - So expression. I blushed again and rolled my eyes.
We thought of going to the kingdom for another walk. So we asked Luthiann's permission. She agreed with a "come before the evening" curfew. We packed a few sweets we took from the kitchen. But instead of going straight out of the palace gate, we roamed around the garden taking in the unusual sights and rare smells of unknown flowers and plants.
We walked together to the palace gate and the guards opened it for us. We walked out to the Fae market holding each others hands. The ladies in the market waved the exotic clothing materials at the passing elves. The Elvish vendors were calling out the passer byes for buying the unique food items. I was checking out the the utensils section while Emily was talking with the Elvish boys.
My eyes caught a spear hanging on top of the shop. I leaned closer to it to examine closely. It was really old from what I could gather. The spear wood was breaking slightly but the spear stone was still glazing and sharp.
I admired the complex designs and the smooth features of the spear when someone behind me boomed, 'Ah....admiring the legendary the spear of Golgorial are you my lady'. I turned around to see an elf man looking proudly at the spear. 'Yes. It looks quite majestic' I said politely. 'Fine taste but this is not for sale young nissë' he said looking at me with interested eyes. 'No I was just inspecting it and quite want to know about this spear's history' I said bowing.
He looked at me with keen eyes and said 'This spear is Dwarf made. It is not as elegant and strong as an elf made but this spear according to the legends says that the creatures killed by the spear is roaming in the craftship of the spear. If you hold it for more than a minute you could hear voices and could go insane. This spear was used in the battle against the wave of Orcs. The late king of Dwarfs was generous enough to pass it to my former generation and now to me' he said looking at the spear foundly. We stood there admiring the spear when Emily rushed at me and pulled me with her.
I turned to look at the elf man but he was still looking at the spear.
We roamed around admiring the shops and when we reached a distance we saw the high boundary wall. 'Well this is all we could go further' I said and tugged slightly at Emily's hand. But she did not budge. 'What are you doing? It's getting late, we are supposed to be there before sundown' I said. 'Hey... Josie... Is a hole in the boundary wall a good sign?' Em said pointing at the wall. I squinted at the wall because it was getting dark. And I made out a big hole in the wall which was carefully hidden by bushes.
Emily walked towards it. 'What the hell do you think your doing?' I asked pulling Emily back. 'We have to find who did this. It's not exactly safe for the kingdom. It might be spies or orcs' she said carefully. 'Yes exactly, it might be. And just imagine we would have the opportunity to bump into an orc. "Oh... Your the kids who killed our other mates aren't you... We would very much like to welcome you with a big hug" ' I said sarcastically.
'Just stop with the dumb sarcasm' she snapped. And ignoring me she went closer to the hole. I followed. She bent down to reach the height of the hole. 'Its been punched down' she said slowly moving her hand around the uneven jagged surface. Saying so she went through it.
'No. No. No. You are not going through there. This is a matter of life and death. We can go back and tell Daemeon or someone about it and that's it' I said firmly. She shook her head and went on. 'I'm going back' I said to her, 'Whatever' she replied. I turned to leave but i couldn't.
'Ah...shit' I shouted and followed her. It was dark. We were walking at the forest not knowing where we were going. Emily says she was following the sounds.
The sounds. The 'effing sounds. The forest is filled with thousands of sounds and she's following it. What if she finds an orc or something more. If I die... I'm going to kill her.
We walked quite a mile. The moon was shinning really brightly and it was peeping among the leaves of the trees. It was getting creepier by the minute. Then we reached a removed camp site like place. 'I think someone camped here' said Emily slowly 'And they might be here somewhere'.
'Oh Hell No. Where the fuck do you think we are right now? Do you know the way back?' I whispered angrily. Emily turned around quickly and looked past me. Her eyes went wide. 'Weren't you keeping watch?' she asked horrified. 'Keep- wait you didn't ask me to keep watch' I replied trembling. Emily began sweating. 'Oh...'
We sat down trying to calm our nerves. Emily was sobbing. 'You should have been keeping watch' she said with her voice trembling. 'No stop it. I'm sick and tired of your childish stubborn behaviour. I told you not to come here. But did you listen? No. I told you not to go into the fucking cave in the first place. Did you listen? No. And now you have the audacity to blame these things on me? I shouldn't have followed you anywhere'
We were silent. The leaves were bellowing with wind. It was so creepy out here. 'Hey I'm sorry I said those things' I apologized. 'No what you said were all true. So I'm sorry' Em said quietly. 'I wish I were home' Emily said crying 'Josie I'm scared'. I went near her and gave her shoulder a squeeze. I didn't talk because I knew I would start bawling too. We heard a lot of noices but we were keeping our heads down and praying. Praying nothing would come to us. It was truly terrifying.
We heard someone coming near. 'I think it's an orc...' whispered Emily. 'No it's just a bunny' I whispered back hurriedly. 'Bunnies don't have heavy footsteps' cried Emily. 'Nothing.... It's nothing. Your doing nothing to increase our morale' I cried. 'We're gonna die Josephine' she whispered 'The blood thirsty Orcs will hunt us and tear our limbs to-
'What are you two doing here' someone boomed behind us. I and Emily screamed in the top of our voices. 'No be quiet. You never scream in the middle of the forest. You never know what's here' the voice said.
We calmed down and the figure came to the light.
'AIREN!!!!' I screamed and rushed towards and hugged him. 'Oh you don't know how glad I am to see you' I whispered happily. I turned to look at Em. She looked back at me and raised her eyebrows with a side grin. I realised I was still hugging Airen so I let go immediately. He cleared his throat. 'What are you two doing here?' he repeated.
Emily and I filled him with everything. So Airen took us back to the destroyed wall. He was shocked. 'This is impossible' he mumbled 'You both have to go back to the castle. It's not safe for you two to stay out here anymore' he said and guided us back to the palace.
We reached the palace door and Airen waited us to get in. I turned to look at him. But he was avoiding my gaze. 'You go on I have to do something' I said to Emily. 'Yeah sure' she said smirking.
I walked towards him. 'Your supposed to go inside' he said looking right at me. 'I know but I just wanted to thank you for helping us out of that forest' I said slowly. 'It's fine' he said back.
I stood there a moment and looked at him. This time he didn't avoid my eyes.
I held his collar and pulled him closer to my face. I kept another hand on his broad chest. I felt his heart beat faster. I smiled to myself. I slowly went for his lower lips and kissed it. Wow... I really did evolve from my comfort shell...
When I was about to move away he caught me and pulled me closer for a deep kiss. We were so focused on the kiss, that we didn't mind falling down on the grassy ground.
He started biting my neck. I moaned hard. This just made him go harder. I gasped I pulled his hair. He resumed kissing me passionately. He didn't care that we were out of breath. He was on top of me and he was gazing at me with so much want and longing. We sat there in the moonlight. My head on his shoulder and our fingers intertwined.
'I love you' he said suddenly 'You should know that those words were burning in my tongue the moment I met you. I want you. Every inch of you' he said moaning in my ear. Hearing him groan in my ears made me moan in fluttering ecstasy.
He kissed me one last time and guided me back to the palace.
I walked smiling to my bedroom and saw Emily sitting there.
'So..... Tell me everything'.
