Chapter 37

"You all have a good night, thank you for coming," the Sun bidded the party guests farewell as they exited the house. The graduation party had finally drawn to a close. Shutting the door, the celebrity star cat called out, "Okay kiddos, let's get this place cleaned up."

"Sweet! I'll start in the kitchen!" Uranus meowed, making a beeline over there. Frowning in confusion, Jupiter leaned over towards Neptune and whispered, "What's he gonna do, lick the plates clean? He doesn't know how to use a dishwasher." Meanwhile, Mercury and Mars chased down Uranus. "No way man, you're gonna help us with something else," Mars pointed out, "Venus and Saturn are on kitchen duty."

"Come on Saturn, you dry while I wash," Venus spoke softly as she led the way. Nearby, Pluto hopped up onto the Orbit and cried, "I'm on vacuuming duty!" The others laughed quietly as the small planet kitten set off on his voyage aboard the little vacuum cleaner. Watching his kids, the Sun felt someone rub up against his paw. Looking down, he found the Moon. Meeting his gaze, the tiny moon kitten squeaked. The star cat chuckled softly and gave her a gentle nuzzle as Earth trotted over. Giving her adoptive father a big old hug, the terrestrial planet cat purred, "Thank you Dad."

"You're very welcome Earth," the Sun replied, returning the embrace. Earth's purr grew louder. It was so loud that almost no one heard a knock on the front door. Looking up from where he was cleaning up the confetti with Mars and Uranus, Mercury turned to the former and asked in a hushed voice, "Do you think it's Vega?" Shrugging his shoulders, Mars whispered back in response, "No idea, I haven't been able to call her. Went right to voicemail."

"I got it!" Earth announced, padding over to the front door. Unlocking it, she opened it up. Standing there on the doorstep were two terrestrial planet cats. Their fur was a burnt gray with reddish orange lines zigzagging all over. Their eyes were a fiery yellow and their noses were black. One would think that they were siblings but something was telling Earth that wasn't the case. "Hello, were you guys on your way to the party?" The female planet cat teared up yet a smile was on her face. The male comforted her as he rasped, "Actually, we were looking for you Terra. We've been looking for you everywhere."

Terra. There was something about that name that rang in Earth's head like a bell. It sounded familiar to her. In fact, these two cats looked familiar to her as well. A blurry image formed in her mind, a lovely day at the park. A picnic set out on the grass. And two cats standing over her, cats that looked like the ones before her right now. She didn't know their true names so she had made up ones of her own, like all kids did for their parents. Trembling slightly, Earth quietly mumbled, "Mom? Dad?"

She was suddenly pulled into a warm hug.
