Oreostar

The wind ruffled her black and white fur. She looked at the sky as clouds drifted on. Her mind wondered to the battle and she frowned shutting her eyes. She flinched as cats yowling echoed in her ears she shot her eyes open. She walked back to camp her gaze on the forest floor as she staggered on.

When at camp she forced past cats who tried to step forward and talk to her. She flattened her ears ignoring every cat and just padding into her den. She sat in her marshmallow nest. Her eyes were cold, as they had been for the past few days. She turned her head to the den entrance as her deputy padded inside.

"Oreostar?" He asked knowing she was in the den.

"Yes Cookieclaw?" She meowed knowing he deputy would not come into her den unless something very important needed discussing

"Is it Dinnerclan?" She asked, she had been uneasy of their return since they fled during the battle even though they would never fight so close after the battle.

"No, there has been no signs of them at all since the battle." The loyal deputy assured. "But we have scented bacon badgers on the territory line. We think they are advancing in the territory..."

Badgers. The clan isn't ready for badgers. She frowned even forgetting her deputy was there. Badgers could kill the whole clan.

"What should we do? This needs to be your call Oreostar." He said to her concern showed on the toms face.

"Investigate carefully. Check the scents every day or so but never follow it. We can't afford to lose any more cats. Not until we get back on our paws again." She meowed surprising herself with her stern and confident response.

"I'll warn the clan." Said the deputy before leaving the den.

She watched his tail tip slip out of view and his paw steps echo out of the den. She was glad this cat was her deputy and that she still had a deputy at all. He didn't question her or try and comfort her out of her den. If any cat could lead the now broken Dessertclan it was him, probably even better then her. She'd make him the leader if she could but she would have to die to give him nine lives and she still had six.

She left her den at dusk and took a gummy bear. This was one of the rare times she left her den. Usually she only left at dawn and dusk and the occasional walk she took. She could tell the only kit was looking at her. She got use to the kits eyes on her fur. She knew he didn't see her as a leader, she didnt either.

Not anymore.
