Enter the Labyrinth Maze of Trouble

Their slide came to a stop and Baron hopped off first before helping Serene down as Yuki jumped down. They came upon a ladder and Yuki climbed up first and checked if the coast was clear. Once it was, she got out with Baron and Serene following.

"The back of the castle." Baron noted as he took a look at their surroundings.

"The door to your world is at the top of that tower." Yuki said as she pointed at something in the distance.

Serene was shocked by the structure of the place even more so that there's a maze and that the tower is in the very center.

"You've got to be kidding me? That's one tall tower." Serene said in shock. How the heck can the cats of the kingdom build that?!

"And the only way to get to the tower is through the king's maze." Yuki explained as Baron walked to the wall.

He looked at the maze to try and memorize the path they needed to take in order to reach the tower.

"Naturally." He said as Yuki prepared to leave now that her part is done.

"Good luck. And, Baron, take good care of Serene and help her." Yuki said as the two turned to her as she got down on her four paws.

"Hey, wait." Serene said but Yuki already left through a doorway.

"She's already gone. I haven't had a chance to thank her for helping us yet..." Serene said sadly as her ears drooped a little. She never got to even thank her.

Baron came up behind her since he seemed to have a theory on how his friend found the bureau for help.

"Serene, does her voice sound familiar to you? Could it be possible that she's the one who told you to seek help at the Cat Bureau?" Baron asked curiously and he noticed how her ears perked up.

Serene's eyes widened as she put Yuki's voice and the voice before together and it all made sense. Yuki was helping her!

Flashback starts;

"Serene, go to the Cat Bureau. You must find the Cat Bureau."

Flashback ends;

She turned to Baron in shock and surprise.

"You're right. That was her voice. I'm sure of it but... Why would she help me?" She asked in confusion and realization.

They both heard a crash and looked up just in time to see Muta crashing out the window with two guards chasing after him only to fall down as the big cat grabbed on the wall with his claws. Baron quickly shielded Serene behind him as the guards fell down and didn't get back up. Muta slid down the wall as Serene stepped out from behind Baron once the danger was gone. Once Muta was down on the ground, he glared at the two before walking towards them.

"Whose idea was it to leave me without me?! I nearly got killed!" Muta growled at the two as Serene shrugged.

Baron turned to Serene since they had to hurry.

"This is no time for finger pointing." He said as she nodded.

"Right." The two then proceeded to the maze while Muta watched them, dumbfounded. Are they leaving him again?

"You're leaving me again?" He asked but he followed along since he wanted to get out of the place.

The three of them then walked down the steps and entered the maze unaware that Cat King and his guards with Natori and Natoru were watching from their spot above.

"Are they going in?" Cat King asked as Natori was looking through some binoculars.

"Yes, they've just begun." Natori confirmed.

"Purr-fect." Cat King grinned.

"No one has ever come out of there alive, have they?" Natori said with a small grin.

The king then head towards a lounge chair which was set up in front of an orb

"We can watch them go nuts from over here." He said in a carefree tone.

With the trio, they were having a bit of trouble navigating through the maze as Baron went ahead and looked through each path to see which one they could go through.

"Hurry, we don't have much time." Baron said as he looked around.

"We'll make it. Though strangely it's still noon." Serene said in confusion. If she remembered correctly, it was already night time when she was taken.

Muta and Serene stopped behind Baron who was in thought.

"It's always noon here, kid." Muta informed her.

Serene turned to Muta in confusion. It's always what?!

"What? What do you mean it's always noon here?" She asked in confusion and surprise.

"That's what I said, kid." He said.

Baron turned to them and estimated on the time it was back to the human world.

"Back home, it's already after midnight." He notified them.

This made Serene panicked.

"What?! We've got to go faster!" She panicked.

Serene tried to see which path they could take but didn't know which one as she turned to Baron helplessly.

"This way? That way? Where should we go?" She asked helplessly with her ears drooping a bit.

Baron checked to see which way but Serene's ears began ringing again which made her wince and hold her head which Muta noticed.

"Baron, the kid is going through it again." Muta said as he looked at Serene worriedly.

"What?" Baron asked in shock and worry.

He turned and saw Serene leaning against the wall while holding her head as if in pain.

"Serene? Are you alright?" He approached her quickly and checked to see if she was injured or something. But there was nothing.

Serene didn't hear him as more memories were going through her head. The identity of the ones from earlier became clear and they revealed Baron who was smiling warmly and lovingly towards her. She blinked while shaking her head and Baron held her by her arms to steady her.

"Are you quite alright?" He asked as his eyes were shining in worry and concern.

Serene looked at Baron. Why was he in her memories? It doesn't make sense. What really happened to her?

"I'm starting to remember more about who I really was but there's still something missing that I can't remember." She told them shakily.

Baron and Muta looked at each other as Baron looked at her gently.

"Serene, whatever caused you to lose your memories of your past, I will do everything in my power to help you remember who you are. I promise." He vowed determinedly.

Serene looked at him and nodded. She trusts him to help her get home.

With the Cat King, Natoru was spying on them through a pair of binoculars with Natori.

"They're lost already?" Natoru noted.

"They seem to be doing worse than most of our victims. Pleased, Your Majesty?" Natori said as he turned to the king.

The king was enjoying the view as he ate some fish.

"Feeling good, babe." Cat King said as Natori turned to Natoru.

"Where are the guards?" He asked.

Natoru pointed to the maze.

"Right there." He pointed.

A group of soldiers were heading towards where the unsuspecting trio were as Baron had an idea that might just help them.

"Let's start with this path. If we're being methodical about this, we'll be sure to find our way." Baron advised

Baron and Serene both looked at the tower.

"Keep your eye on the tower. That will allow us to stay oriented." He said as Serene nodded.

"Good idea." She said before her ears twitched and turned to see that Muta was climbing up the wall of the maze.

"Muta, you're cheating." She told him.

"Gimme a break. You think I'll get in trouble?" He grunted as he hoisted himself up on the wall.

Muta was able to get on the wall but bad luck apparently was on his side when the leader of the soldiers spotted him.

"He's cheating!" The lead guard shouted with Muta gaping in shock.

Muta, with surprisingly perfect balance, was able to run on the walls with the soldiers running after him.

"She's gonna rub this in my face, isn't she?!" He shouted in annoyance while running away from the guards chasing after him.

Baron and Serene watched them run by from their hiding spot.

"Let's get out of here while Muta keeps them occupied." He told her as she nodded.

"Right."

The two quickly made a break for it to get through the maze while Muta was keeping the guards busy.

"Again, I'm tricked into being bait!" He complained in dismay.

Baron and Serene made a turn but instantly halted in their tracks when they saw two guards holding their hurting head or arm before the two guards noticed them. Baron quickly put his arm in front of Serene who quickly hid behind him as Baron held out his cane in defense.

"Stay behind me, Serene." He said as she backed up.

Baron timed the guards before ducking as the first guard swung his sword first. He went underneath the guard and lifted him up, causing the guard to fall. Baron then faced the second guard who was was about to swing but with excellent swordsmanship, Baron hit the guard's head first, then the wrist which made the guard to let go of his sword in pain, then Baron hit the leg which made the guard yowl in pain before Baron used that opportunity to shove the guard against the wall until he fainted. Serene watched the fight in amazement as another memory flashed through her mind as it showed Baron fighting against someone and came out on top.

"That was amazing!" Serene said in surprise and impressed.

She noticed that Baron was checking his cane which made Serene ask.

"Oh, how's your cane?" She asked curiously.

Baron swings the cane on his shoulder while turning to her

"Bent, but it's about time for a new one, anyway." He told her simply as she shook her head but smiled.

"I never knew they were so useful in combat." She said as Baron returned the smile.

The two quickly ran off to reach the tower. Meanwhile, the king was playing golf before he swung his putter and hit the ball which sent it flying.

"Nice shot, sire." Natoru commented as the ball went flying.

The flying ball fell down to the maze and ended up hitting a guard that was after Muta on the head. Muta looked back to see the guard falling off the wall and Natori saw the whole thing through his binoculars.

"Oh no, you hit one of ours." Natoru said in shock.

"I did? " Cat King questioned.

Natori turned to the king in dismay.

"Good heavens, Your Majesty, how could you?" He questioned.

The king just grinned at him innocently as Natoru, who was enjoying the sight, frowned curiously

"Let's keep that between us." He said innocently but Natoru just frowned.

"Excuse me, but I think there's a bit of a problem." Natoru said as he pointed to the maze

"What?" Natoru questioned.

Natoru pointed to the maze and Natori looked through the binoculars to see what was wrong and saw the problem.

"Our guards are scattered everywhere." Natoru said. They're gonna have to send in help to get those guards out of the maze.

"Don't tell me they're lost too?" Natori groaned in dismay but the king noticed someone missing.

"Where's my princess?" He asked in confusion.

Natori gave him another pair of binoculars and they looked through it and found the trio and was surprised

"She's already halfway through." Natori said in shock and surprise.
