Michael Aiden - Challenge Two

"I'm sorry! I-I just need to..." My young self stammered for an excuse, an escape, staring into the glare of my father. No, not my dad- the one I got stuck with. The shadow of his palm sent me from my peaceful, unconscious state. I cried out, my voice a cross between panic and aggravation. Recovering immediately, I searched for the officer, anxious to se his reaction. Letting go a sigh, I realized I was fortunate enough to receive a less than responsible policeman. "All staff and student must meet in the theater for an assembly, now," Blackwell's voice stalely drained through the speakers. Silently obeying, my gaze met the lifeless hallway. Boy, was I this slow? Humming Longview, I rounded on the Theater's corner, noticing a door was hanging open. It absorbed a steady flow of students, who seemed especially stricken by anxiety. A hand grazed my shoulder, sending me spinning around, curious as to who the culprit was. Joan. "Oh my- shouldn't you be in the theater?""I believe you should be in their too, Mr. Aiden," She smirked. Damn, some of these kids are clever. Guess I can't take the actually intelligent ones for nothing, they seem rare, even in such a high ranking, educational establishment. Oh, the irony."Don't tell me you're going into the tunnels as well, sir?" Her eyebrow rose."Might as well..." I mumbled," The school is better off having someone watch the hooligans that are down here.""Good enough for me!" She jeered, and my mind finally made the connection that there was a tagalong behind me. We both entered the infamous Theater Passageways, which were much more complex than I previously had recognized. We traded conversation you'd expect a teacher and student may have, but were interrupted by a sudden loud whirr. Then came the lights. Joan clutched my shoulder, taken abroad by the complete darkness. "We should get out of here," She muttered quietly, sensing my quick nod. Using the walls to guide our way, eerie laughing reverberated from thin air. It never manifested in a physical direction, causing the paranoia to heighten. Now, I practically shielded Joan, standing in the near middle of the hallway. Those who chose to slaughter were down here, and that became obvious with the sudden animalistic screams of students being mercilessly put down. A glint of sheer metal caught my attention as we neared what I hoped was an exit, only to be violently rammed in my side. "Argh-" My groan turned into a flurry of blind defense, Joan shuffling away until my attacker slunk off, believing I was a lost cause.I pressed the gaping wound that imprinted the lower part of my torso, which would prove to be fatal if given enough time. Blood spilled steadily, seeping in between my digits. My subconscious struggled to form entire words, let alone sentences. They all devolved into unintelligible cries of pain. "Oh my god- Michael!" Joan exclaimed, now equally as worried for me and my...state. "Be quiet, I think its up here, somewhere," She assured me relentlessly, beginning to waver in the mission of supporting my increasingly weak form. This might just be the end.
