Harlow King - Task Two

Police escorts had been called due to the  countless deaths of students. It was frustrating, being followed everywhere you went...really got on the nerves...pushed my buttons. All of the staff and students were on edge and it showed. People jumped at every loud noise.

Nothing in the school was running to plan, schedules were all jumbled.

And so was my hair.

I arrived at the school, flustered and sleepy.

Heres a tip: don't trust bloody alarm clocks...

The police escort that walked me into the school was obviously trying not to stare. I knew I looked like death and I didn't need their conformation. After giving the police officer a glare, I stepped into the long, lonely hallway. It was silent. I was appreciating the personal space until I noticed more officers lined against the sides. Of course.

I didn't like to be watched. It made me feel...restranied and crowded.

I made a bee-line for the staff room and dumped my stuff all over the desk. Now was not a time for neatness. Being usually organised, i was kind of annoyed that my schedule had been thrown off balance. My first class was at 9:00am and I now had to hastily set up the gym for training.

I easily found my way to the gym, avoiding the police escorts. I didn't like feeling as if I was a small child needing help to walk down a short hall to the gym.

I pulled open the unlocked doors and walked over to the storage cupboard.

I tugged on the handle, expecting it to open up easily.

It didn't budge.

I looked down and realized it was locked.

I didn't have time to run around looking for this stupid key! It was ready 8:39am and time was clearly not in my side, the minutes ticking down as I stood there cluelessly. My first class and I had already stuffed it all up.

Without a second thought, I pulled the bobby pin from my hair, evidence that i had tried to contain it, and looked at it thoughtfully.

I had seen people pick locks like this before. Of course, these people had been in movies but...details details. It was worth a good go.

I knelt down, feeling the cold, hard basketball court again my knees.

Pushing the bobby pin in the flimsy lock I wiggled it around, pushing, taking it out, replacing it.

I heard a faint click.

Half expecting nothing to happen I pulled the handle downwards, suddenly causing the door to push inwards.

I fell with a harsh bang into the open store room.

I looked around, proud that I had re enacted a movie scene...until i heard the creaky opening if the gym doors.

"Ma'am what are you doing?" I stood bolt upright and brushed imaginary dust from my clothes.

Ahh I didn't need this right now! I panicked and looked at the watch loosely clipped around my wrist.

8:45am

"I-I was really just trying go get the store room open. You see I don't have a key and-"

"I can see that you don't have a key, ma'am, because you've clearly broken in." The police offiver stated blandly "you'll have to come with me."

I froze up.

8:47am

No no no no!

"I have a class!" I blurted.

"I understand that but we have to treat all matters seriously with the current happenings."

I followed him slowly, clearly defeated.

"Missing this class is going to get me fired..." I said under my breath.

The police officer stopped walking and so did I.

"Okay, I'm not supposed to do this but I can see you didn't mean to cause any harm. Why don't you come and talk to me in the office after you've taught your class?" He smiled.

"Really?! Thanks! Thankyou!" I slowly backed away and ran over to the store room, pulling out equipment and flinging it behind me.

I smiled. He was pretty sweet to do that for me.
