Zombie Apocalypse
I finally finished...never again 😀🔫

Rockabiee sat lazily on the couch, Kiyochi lying her head on her lap. The two stared at the TV, bored out of their minds. Sketches was in the kitchen kneading some dough when a small *ding* came from her phone. She quickly washed her hands before picking it up.
It appeared to be a news feed notification. It read:
Possible Zombie Apocalypse?!
Scientists say that an incredibly dangerous yet unidentified chemical has been released into the open, causing people to transform into disturbing creatures, resembling zombies.
Her eyebrows raised as she walked out of the kitchen. "Hey, you two, check this out." She motioned to her phone. The two girls glanced at the paragraph on her phone, Kiyochi having to sit up a bit to read better.
Their eyebrows raised simultaneously. "I wonder if this shit's real." Kiyochi mumbled. Rockabiee shrugged. "Probably not, I mean, I saw an article about how Miley Cyrus was secretly an underground fish alien so-"
Kiyochi gave her roommate a confused look. "Wait...who?" "Ok, you know what, nevermind." Sketches raised her eyebrow at the two and rolled her eyes playfully. Then a thought came to her. "Hey, where's Hybrid?" She asked. "He went to get takeout for us." Rockabiee answered, her and Kiyochi returning to their comfortable positions.
Sketches mouthed an 'oh' and returned back to her baking.
After a little bit, the doorbell rang. Sketches walked towards the door and opened it, revealing Hybrid, who seemed to have a frantic expression on his face. "Did you guys hear the news?!" He asked as he walked inside, setting the takeout on the dining table.
"About the zombies? Yeah." He gave her a bewildered expression. "AND YOU'RE NOT WORRIED?!!" He shouted. Kiyochi, who by now was half asleep, groaned in annoyance out of the noise. "It's probably some dumb conspiracy theory to get people all worked up and pressed, I mean, come on, this America we're talking about." Rockabiee said.
Hybrid still looked unsure. "Whatever you say, anyway, who wants dumplings?" Just hearing the word 'dumplings' woke Kiyochi right up. She sat up from Rockabiee's lap and ran towards the carryout plates filled with warm food.
Rockabiee, who was hungry but too lazy to get up, asked groggily, "Can you get me a dumpling?" "No!" Kiyochi retorted. "I let you sleep on my lap?!" "I WASN'T ASKING FOR YOUR PERMISSION!" Sketches and Hybrid just picked out their plates, letting the two bicker as per usual.
That was 4 hours ago
Sketches pushed the large couch towards the door, which was already barricaded with large pieces of wood. The gross gurgling groans caused her eyes to widen. Long story short, that whole zombie thing was true.
She was about to grab a chair when she noticed something. Rockabiee was busy typing on her laptop while Hybrid was focused on a large fish trap. And Kiyochi? Who knows where that girl wandered off to. "What the heck are you guys doing, and where the hell is Kiyochi?!" She exclaimed, clearly frustrated.
Rockabiee looked up from her laptop, seemingly coming back to reality. "I'm taking notes on how the zombies act, and Kiyochi's probably in her room." Sketches rubbed the bridge of her nose. Taking in a deep breath, she asked, "Ok, can one of you at least help me with these chair-" A loud bang coming from upstairs interrupted her.
The trio downstairs looked upstairs, all with distraught looks on their faces. Kiyochi's collective curses caused them to run upstairs into her room, Hybrid entering first. "Yo, Kiyochi, you good?" He asked, the two girls peaking from behind him.
Kiyochi looked up at them, an awkward smile on her face. She was holding a large shotgun, and a large hole was in the wall next to her. Rockabiee blinked. "I was just testing it out.." she tried to reason. Rockabiee glanced at Hybrid and Sketches, then back at her. "You got anymore?"
All four of them were now holding incredibly dangerous weapons. Kiyochi held large knives, Rockabiee with hand grenades in her pockets and an AK-47 in her hands, Sketches with a large baseball bat and a Colt M1911, and Hybrid, holding two very unnecessarily large axes and an MP5SD.
They all looked at each other. "We look weird." Rockabiee said. "We look badass!" Kiyochi exclaimed. "It doesn't matter how we look, as long as we're prepared for the shit that's outside our house." Sketches said.
They all nodded. "Oh, wait shouldn't we have like masks or something?" Rockabiee asked. Everyone looked at her. "Oh yeah-" Kiyochi said. "I think I have like 5 bandanas." Hybrid said. "You sure that'll keep the chemicals from entering our nostrils?" Sketches asked
He shrugged. "I'd like to think of it they way I think of covid." She sighed.
They were now currently facing the door, the bandanas nearly covering their entire faces. "You guys ready?" Rockabiee asked. They silently nodded as she carefully unlocked the door. Just as she fully opened it, loud groaning filled their ears.
A big zombie was flailing it's arms, about to attack. The quad screamed as Rockabiee quickly shot it to the ground. As it fell, they all stared at it, eyes wide. "Holy shit..." Kiyochi whispered.
"We're so dead."
"Yup"
"Definitely"
"Mhm"
Somehow, they were able to get out of the house and onto the street, where they were currently walking. The air had a yellowish green fog that didn't help with the seeing. It was possible to see buildings and houses, but only about a few feet away.
There was also occasional killing, mostly from Kiyochi. Finally, Sketches, who was practically leading everyone, stopped in between an alleyway. "In here." She motioned towards the alleyway.
As everyone crept inside, Hybrid let out a sigh of relief as he leaned on the wall. Sketches was also leaning on the wall opposite of him, one leg up against it. She seemed to be deep in thought.
Kiyochi and Rockabiee were in their own little world, as usual; Kiyochi fiddling with one of her knives, while Rockabiee was typing rapidly on her laptop that she somehow managed to bring along with her.
Sketches then spoke, breaking the silence, "Ok, so here's the plan, Hybrid you and I are going to attack any zombies in the way. Kiyochi, you and Rockabi- ROCKABIEE!" She exclaimed. Kiyochi flicked her forehead, causing the girl to yelp in pain.
"Ow, what the hell?!" She pouted, rubbing her forehead slightly. "How did you even bring your laptop with you?! And why?!" Rockabiee looked at her as if she asked the dumbest question in the world. "For research of course, I need to know exactly how zombies act, die, speak, for this thriller story I'm making-"
"ROCKABIEE!" Everyone shouted. She rolled her eyes. "Ok, alright, I'm listening." Sketches continued. "Ok, so while we kill any zombies your way, you and Kiyochi are going to grab all the food you can get in that Walmart over there."
She pointed towards the large store diagonal from them. Everyone else nodded to her direction. "Ok, on my lead-" Before she could say anything else, Kiyochi had bolted towards the Walmart, dragging Rockabiee behind her.Sketches' eyes widened as she quickly got up too, Hybrid behind her.
The two pairs entered the Walmart, looking around carefully. Kiyochi grabbed a shopping cart and jumped inside. Rockabiee rose an eyebrow. "What? This will be easier for me to get the food we want." She smiled innocently. Rockabiee laughed softly as she grabbed the handles.
"We'll start at the fruit section, we'll meet back up here in about 10 minutes." She said. They nodded and headed towards the canned food section. Rockabiee turned to Kiyochi. "Ok, here we go"
"3"
Kiyochi tucked herself away in the cart.
"2"
Her excited smile grew bigger.
"1"
Rockabiee ran as fast as she could, then put her foot up on the bars below the shopping cart. Kiyochi grabbed all the fruits and vegetables she could get, screaming in the process. As they reached the end of the isle, Rockabiee grabbed onto the side of the fruit isle and turned the cart sharply.
They were now in the candy section, their speed still the same. Rockabiee laughed out loud as they moved, grabbing random sweets as well as Kiyochi. They then turned from isle to isle until they finally came to a stop.
The duo was breathless, still trying to process what the hell had just happened. "That was fucking awesome!" Kiyochi finally exclaimed. Rockabiee giggled at that. "Well, what did we even get?" The cart was almost overflowing, Kiyochi practically buried under it. It was filled with different cereals, candy, crackers, fruits and vegetable, juice boxes, and a few condiments, and canned food.
The two looked at the cart and back at each other.
"This should feed us, right?"
"Right"
Meanwhile...
Sketches and Hybrid were in the cookware section, hoping to find frying pans that were strong enough and forks and knives that were sharp enough of any sort. So far they had gotten some flashlights and trap nets. "See anything?" Sketches asked. "I did find these incredibly large frying pans." Hybrid said, holding them up. Sketches playfully rolled her eyes. "I suppose we're following in Rapunzel's footsteps." They went back to comfortable silence.
Suddenly, a bloodcurdling scream filled with loud laughter came from across the store. They snapped their necks in the direction of the sound.
"Wanna bet that that's Kiyochi?"
"You're on."
After about ten minutes, everyone regrouped back at the entrance. "Ok, what'd you guys get." Sketches asked. Kiyochi, who was still in the cart, gestured to the food around her. Sketches deadpanned. "Is that cereal...?" "We would have been able to get some meat if Kiyochi wasn't screaming at the top of her lungs." "Shut up, you screamed too!"
As the two bickered like siblings, Sketches glanced at Hybrid, smiling triumphantly. "I expect $20 from you when all of this is over." She said, patting his shoulder. He playfully frowned. "Should've known..." He muttered.
As the team exited the store, they thought about their next move. "We still have lots of more places to cover, and we can't just walk all the way-" Kiyochi interrupted her once more, "A CAR!" She hollered. Sketches thought about that for a moment.
"I suppose we could use my car, it should still have a full tank of gas." Kiyochi grinned. "Let's go!" She exclaimed, already running down the street. "Wait, Kiyochi, be careful!" Sketches said running after her, Hybrid and Rockabiee behind her.
The roommates were now in the car, Sketches obviously driving, Hybrid on the left; behind Sketches, Kiyochi in the middle, and Rockabiee on the right. "Seatbelts?" Sketches asked, turning her head slightly. They all gave a thumbs up, signaling that they were ready.
Sketches then stepped on the peddle, causing the car to zoom through the neighborhood. Rockabiee held onto the handle above her, while Kiyochi held onto both Hybrid's and her arms. "Ok, I think there's a mall just down here." Sketches spoke softly, talking to herself.
In the meantime, Hybrid decided to look out the window, looking at the now damaged world around him. The buildings were now either abandoned or demolished. Lost in his own thoughts, he almost didn't notice the spur of green that caught his eye.
"ZOMBIES!!" He shouted, alerting the others.
"Oh for the love of Christ himself..." Sketches said, spotting the deformed creatures running towards them from the rear view mirror. Kiyochi quickly took off her seatbelt, pressed a small button, and looked out from the car roof window. "Hell yeah, eat shit you freak demons!" She shouted, throwing her knives at them, a maniac smile on her face.
Hybrid and Rockabiee winded down their windows, and started shooting rapidly at the zombies. Sketches stared at them from her rear view mirror, a bit concerned that they were either going to shoot themselves or the car.
A few zombies kept resisting the knives and bullets being shot at them, causing them to fall over mid-groan. As Hybrid tried to shoot again, he realized the gun was out of bullets.
He quickly put his head back inside the car.
"Head for the police station, we need gun re-fills!"
Sketches took a sharp turn, almost causing Kiyochi to jump out of the car. By now the zombies had died down to five. Rockabiee, who knew Kiyochi would kill them off, put her head back inside the car and took a deep breath, and looked out the window.
Merely seconds after she did that, she noticed a familiar teal colored skirt on the sidewalk. She quickly winded down her window. "ALYSSA?!" She exclaimed. The said girl turned in the direction of her voice.
"Oh my god, Sketches, stop the car!" She quickly screamed to her roommate. Sketches harshly slammed the breaks upon hearing the word 'Alyssa'. Alyssa ran towards their car, getting in the front passengers seat.
Kiyochi got back inside the the car just in time to see the familiar face. "ALYSSA!" She exclaimed. Alyssa smiled through her eyes, her mask covering her smile. "I thought you guys would be dead by now." Everyone deadpanned at that.
"How dare you, I'll have you know that I killed off those zombies that were chasing us!" Kiyochi pouted. Alyssa giggled slightly. "Hey, do you have any weapons?" Hybrid asked. Alyssa shook her head.
Rockabiee gave her a shocked expression. "Wait- then how the hell aren't you dead yet?!" She asked, to which the girl shrugged. "I was rarely attacked anyway, they literally just ran right past me." She said bluntly. Everyone in the car deadpanned. "So you mean you've just been walking around freely without any attacks?!" Kiyochi exclaimed.
Alyssa nodded. "I mean, I'm not complaining, who would want rampaging zombies after them in the first place." Kiyochi shrugged. "That's fair, I guess." Sketches then continued driving towards the police station, which, like the rest of the town, had been abandoned.
When they arrived, the station was in ruins. Windows were broken, a few walls were gone, and the door was open... The group looked at each other, all feeling the same thing. Uneasiness. Rockabiee walked up and fully opened the door. She turned her head and tilted it towards the entrance, signaling them to follow.
As they entered the building, the room was pitch black. It took a bit for them to adjust.
"Why the heck is it so dark in here?" Hybrid asked
"What the fuck am I touching?" Kiyochi demanded.
"My fucking face, dumbass." Rockabiee answered.
"Oh, lol sorry."
Finally, Sketches turned on the flashlight she had brought with her, letting everyone see their surroundings a bit more clearly. As Sketches moved the flashlight around, they all got a glimpse of the room they were in. The walls had been tattered, some of the paint peeling off. Papers were scattered everywhere, as well as chairs that were knocked over.
Sketches noticed a cup of coffee that had fallen over. "What a waste of coffee.." she mumbled. "Tell me about it." Rockabiee replied. A sharp shriek caused their breaths to hitch. They all unconsciously got closer together, fear engulfing them.
Sketches sighed. "Ok, let's scan the area, Rockabiee, you and Kiyochi are with me, Hybrid, you go with Alyssa. Try and find as many weapons or tools as possible, and if you see a zombie, you know what to do."
He nodded and took Alyssa's hand in his as the set off in another direction. Sketches sighed and turned towards her companions. "Come on, this way." She motioned. They opened a door to a long hallway, all the lightbulbs dead. Sketches lead all three of them as they slowly walked down the hallway.
Just about halfway through, the loud shriek returned, only this time it was closer. The trio stopped momentarily, scanning the area for anything dangerous. When they were certain that there wasn't anything, they continued.
As they walked, Kiyochi softly hummed to a song, a habit of hers that she unconsciously did. When they reached a turn there was another door. Sketches tried to peak through the door window. Two large silhouettes were inside the room, one crouched down while the other looked at the ceiling.
The familiar groaning and moaning confirmed her theory. Rockabiee cocked her gun while Kiyochi grabbed another knife from her pocket. Sketches motioned from one to three with her fingers and then slowly opened the door.
Unfortunately, the sound of the door opening alerted the hideous creatures, who turned to the source of the sound. Their groans increased as they charged towards the girls only to be shot twice and stabbed in the chest. They trio watched as they fell to the ground.
Rockabiee looked at Kiyochi. "How many knives do you have?" She asked. The shorter girl only stared at her and smiled. "A lot more than mentally necessary." She said as she stepped over the lifeless zombies, her friend following suit.
The room seemed to be a surveillance room, where policeman would roll back tapes and play them when needed in an investigation. There was a pistol on the table, but that seemed to be the only weapon there.
Rockabiee sighed. "You'd think they'd have at least three guns per room or something." As they turned towards the door, it slammed shut. Their eyes widened as they rushed to unlock it, but to no avail.
"Shit, someone's here."
"Oh really, what was your first clue?"
"Both of you stop, we have to figure out a way to get out."
Sketches looked around desperately as well as the other two. Then, Rockabiee glanced at Kiyochi, more or so scanning her body, and then looked down at her own, and then towards Sketches'. Kiyochi raised an eyebrow. "I know we're hot but now really isn't the time, girl." She said.
"Just checking to see if..." She trailed off, as she looked at another direction. Kiyochi followed her eyes and landed on something that made her own eyes twinkle with excitement.
Above them, hung an open ceiling vent. "Are you sure that's safe?" Sketches asked, a bit concerned. "We should be be fine." The two simultaneously said. Rockabiee brought down large boxes around the room, and created a short stairway, just enough for them to climb into.
First went Kiyochi, then Sketches, and finally, Rockabiee. The experience alone was incredibly uncomfortable.
"Oh my god, you're so slow."
"I'm trying to fricking adjust to this goddamn vent!"
"Oh god I just felt something graze my foot!"
"That was a fucking rat!"
Finally, after what seemed like hours, they were able to find an opening. Kiyochi pounded on the vent until it broke, causing all of them to pile out and onto the floor. Kiyochi came face to face with a gun pointed towards her head, and familiar blue eyes that softened after a moment.
"Oh, it's just you guys." Hybrid said. "I told you, I'm surprised you couldn't recognize their quarrels echoing through the vent." Alyssa said as she helped Sketches from the ground. "I was in a stressed mood, can you blame me, we're in a zombie apocalypse." He retorted, flailing his arms around.
When the girls had regained their posture, Hybrid asked, "Why were you girls stuck in the vents anyway, in case you haven't noticed, this isn't really the time to play among us." Kiyochi snorted at the joke. "Something or someone locked us in the room, did you guys find anything?"
He shrugged, "Not much, other than this weird chemical room." He gestured to the room they were in. The room had large test tubes, each filled with a green goo like substance. There were large wires connecting from tube to tube.
Some tubes appeared to have humans in them, only they looked more like corpses than live humans. Everyone looked around in wonder. "What the hell..?" Hybrid whispered. They unconsciously walked around, examining the test tubes up close.
The corpses' eyes were closed and their bodies seemed to be darkening, green veins spreading all around them.
"Could this be..."
"The real cause of the zombies? Most definitely."
"Then what about all of that yellow-green air?" Kiyochi asked, turning her head towards her motherly friend. "These masks can't keep us from inhaling the air, there are still holes in them, the chemicals could have gone up our noses and we'd either be dead or zombies by now."
The loud shriek filled their eyes once more, this time it was just outside the door. Everyone's eyes widened as they backed away, clutching their weapons. The knob jiggled, increasing their anxiety.
The door then slammed open, revealing a large creature. The group stared at it in awe. It has no eyes, no face, only large teeth. It had furr coated all over it's body, as well as claws for hands and feet. The terrifying creature stood on its two legs.
Everyone stared at it. It was horrifying. The large shriek that came from it brought them back to reality as Rockabiee started shooting it, while Kiyochi aimed her knives directly into its chest.
Though it staggered a bit, it was still resistable to the bullets and stabs. "Screw it." Rockabiee said, as she took all of her grenades. "Kiyochi, here!" She said, quickly handing one to Kiyochi as well as everyone else.
She pulled the string and quickly threw it, everyone else following in the process. The room erupted into a fit of explosions, and a bright light consumed everything.
"The end." The older lady said as she closed the book.
Her younger kids stared at her in astonishment. "Wow! That was so cool, Nana!" One of them spoke.
"I wanna be just like Rockabiee, her grenades are freaking awesome!"
"Nu uh, Kiyochi's knives were way cooler!"
"What about Alyssa?"
"Alyssa came in late though."
"So? She's amazing like Hybrid and Sketches."
The elder lady smiled at the children, and stared at the small picture frame filled with smiling roommates. She smiled sadly as she put her hands on her teal skirt.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed this, I sure as heck didn't
