Chapter 8-Goodbye Geraldsville
Phil and Denny checked out of the hotel. Phil released Craig to put his leather harness on. He and Denny began their trek to the edge of town. Phil decided to let all of his Pokemon follow behind him.
"Ok, guys, come on out and get some fresh air." After releasing his Pokemon he turned to Denny, "Denny, if I have Aura powers, then why have they not appeared before?"
"It usually takes a prick or a lot of focus. I can supply you with the 'prick' to stimulate your Aura. Stimulating your Aura will allow your powers to begin to shine."
"So, do I start training tonight?"
"We will stop once we get to a good location, and train for a couple weeks. This will allow you to get control of your Aura in a calm environment."
"What happens if you lose control of your Aura?"
"Think of Aura as a kind of self-replenishing energy field around every conscious being. People and Pokemon with a strong enough Aura can project it in many shapes and forms. It can be quite difficult to control the amount of aura energy put into a task if untrained. This can lead to you using so much of your Aura that it kills you. With endurance training most users can use up to eighty percent of their aura without side effects, other than needing a good long nap afterwards. More than that and you may have health issues. If you use more that eighty-seven percent of your aura energy, then you are almost guaranteed a slow, excruciating death. If you use more than ninety percent of your Aura you will die," Denny snaps his fingers, "Just like that," Denny continued to explain the ins and outs of Aura Phil's Pokemon had their own discussion.
'Hey, Blazer, why does Phil use you so much?' Jes asked.
'He trusts me. I have been with him for a long time. He knows me and I know him.'
'Then why did he use Craig over me in the final turn against Kleve?'
'You suffered in battle last time against him. Phil will most likely train all of us in the near future. Phil wants to become the very best. Enough of this talk though. I want to get to know you, Craig, and Evie on a more personal level. Hey! Craig, Evie! Get over here.'
'What is it? Is it a threat?' Craig asked. He looked around.
'What! A threat? Like a Staraptor! Eeeeeeeeek,' Evie panicked and hid under a bush. Jes rolled his eyes.
'No, no threat, no Staraptor. I just wanted to talk to you,' Blazer said, attempting to calm Evie.
'You sure?'
'Positive and if one comes, the four of use can handle it. Now I wanted to talk to you guys. I know you all a little bit, but, other than Jes, I know very little about any of you.'
'So, you want to be friends?' Evie asked, sounding surprised.
'Yes, why do you sound so surprised?' Blazer inquired. Evie looked at her feet. 'Did the other Eevee bully you?'
'Yes! They cussed me out, they would call me a...' Evie went on like this for a while.
'It's ok Evie we are not going to make fun of you. Are we?' Blazer gave both Craig and Jes a fierce look like, "You will not bully her on my watch." 'Did Edward bully you?'
'No, none of the ones he gave to Phil or any of his friends were ever mean to me. They were bullied themselves.'
'Hey, don't worry Evie. Just because I was stuck in stone for a few thousand years doesn't mean I am hard on the inside.'
'Yea, Evie, we will have all kinds of electrifying adventures together,' Evie then ran and gave each of them a big hug around the neck.
'Thanks guys.'
'You're most welcome,' they all said.
"Wonder what they were talking about?"
"Phil, who knows? They could be talking about anything. I do not have a strong enough bond to link with any of them."
"What about Sir Kane?"
"Oh, good idea Phil. Sir Kane I have need of you," Denny released his first Pokemon.
'I was having a good nap in there. It had better be important.'
"We just wanted to know what the other Pokemon were talking about."
'Ugh.... Ok.' He went and talked to the other Pokemon. After a minute he patted Evie's head and hopped back over. 'She was bullied by the other Eevee Mr. White had. The only ones who were nice to her are the ones you, Henry, and Railyn received.'
"Wow."
"What is it, Denny?"
Denny repeated Sir Kane's tale.
"Denny, maybe we should let out Edward."
"Sounds like a good idea." Denny released Edward and sent him over to the other Pokemon. They traveled for quite some time, passing trees and bushes in full fall colors of red, orange, and yellow, before they came to another trainer.
"Hello, would you like a battle?" he inquired.
"Sure, I am Phil."
"Jase, pleasure to meet you."
"Denny, would you referee?"
"It would be my pleasure."
"Jase, how many Pokemon you have?"
"I have four Pokemon."
"Then how about a three on three?"
"Deal!"
"I just need to check one of my Pokémon's moves. I just realized that I have not scanned it."
"Okay, sure."
Phil called over Evie and pulled out his Pokedex.
'Eevee the evolution Pokemon. Thanks to its unstable genetic make-up it can evolve into many forms. This Eevee is female and knows the following moves Sand Attack, Swift, Quick Attack, and Iron Tail.'
"I didn't think Eevee could learn Iron Tail?" Phil wondered aloud.
"It can be taught Iron Tail. Sometimes if a parent Pokemon knows a move it can be passed down. That could explain it."
"Phil, are you ready to lose yet!"
"Bring it! Evie lead off."
"An Eevee, let's show what it could become, Georgia, I call on you!" Georgia was a Sylveon.
"Evie, Quick Attack." Evie darted forward at speeds much higher than normally achievable.
"Georgia, use Swift." Georgia summoned a set of stars and set them on Evie. Evie attempted to dodge but the stars followed her.
"Phil, Swift can't miss! You should use Evie's surprise move. It will do extra damage."
"Evie, use Iron Tail to return Georgia's gift." Evie's tail glowed silver before swatting away the stars. They then hit Georgia.
"Georgia, Fairy Wind!"
"Oh, no you don't. Evie, Sand Attack." Georgia began to focus to summon a magical gust, but Evie kicked dust in her eyes. This caused her to lose focus.
"Georgia, get back in the game!"
"Evie, Iron Tail!" Evie's tail glowed silver once more as she used Iron Tail. The attack shoved Georgia's head into the ground, rendering her unconscious.
"Phil, you may have won that round, but you can't handle this, Fred, come on out."
"So you have a Staravia."
"That would be correct. Now enough chit-chat, Fred, Quick Attack."
"Evie use you own to evade then use Swift." Fred swooped, close to the speed of sound at Evie, but she dodged, barely. Evie turned to use Swift, and shot a set of stars at Fred.
"Fred combine Aerial Ace and Quick Attack to get behind that Eevee." Fred, in the blink of an eye was behind Evie. She then took the full force of her own Swift.
"Evie!"
"Fred, Aerial Ace." Fred responded immediately. Evie was rendered unconscious.
"Evie, return. Jes, shoot that bird down." Jes rushed forward, calling a battle cry. He proceeded to follow his instinct and used Spark, leaping into the air. Fred was hit dead center.
"Good aim, Jes."
"Fred!" Fred attempted to rise, but Jes used Tackle. He was down and out for the count.
"Fred, return. Jerry, Finish this battle." Jerry was a green Grovyle.
"Jes, Spark attack." Jes cloaked himself in electricity before charging off. He smacked into Jerry who just took and dished back a Seed Bomb.
"What attack was that?" Phil asked.
"Seed Bomb, a guy from my hometown taught it to him when he was little."
"Jes, Spark didn't do so well, try Tackle." Jes ran at Jerry dodging Seed Bombs. He Tackled Jerry, but....
"Jerry, Leaf Blade!"
"Jes, watch out." Jes was hit, hard. He went flying through the air and hit a tree.
"Jes, re..." He began to glow a bright and brilliant white. The brightness of it forced everyone to turn their heads.
Jes roared loud and proud. Jerry flinched at the sight of him.
"Jes you evolved!" Phil scanned Jes with his Pokedex.
'Luxio the Spark Pokemon. Its claws loose electricity with enough amperage to cause fainting. They live in small groups. This specimen has learned the new move Bite.'
"Alright! Jes, Bite attack." Jes leaped forward jaws opened wide. His Bite attack went hard and deep into Jerry's arm, causing him to flinch.
"Finish it with Tackle." Jes used the commanded attack and won the victory.
"Wow, you're good, Phil, surprisingly so."
"Thanks, you're not so bad yourself, Jase."
"I had better get going. It will be dark soon."
"Yea, us too."
Phil and Denny set off. They began talking avidly.
"Phil, don't worry about your Pokemon. I can fix them up as soon as we set up camp."
"Thanks a lot Denny. Where are we going to camp?"
"I have a place. We will have to go through a cave, but we can do it!"
"You're right. No cave can stop us."
